Towards Eternity

Towards Eternity
Ch 656's. Lin Mei (I)

Just a moment ago, inside the explosion of green light.

Lin Mei stood fixated as a green light hit her face and then her entire body.

Different from what he thought, the green light turned out to be cold. It was not a stinging cold, but rather a coldness that Lin Mei could not explain.

He felt, peaceful.

"Ah....so it feels like when death comes to you," said Lin Mei in a soft voice.

His eyes stared calmly at his hands that were beginning to show signs of cracking like a thin glass that would shatter into pieces when touched just a little.

He watched as his hands turned to ashes bit by bit. Starting from the tip of his finger, until it reaches his upper arm. Lin Mei could no longer feel her hands completely, even though that had shattered into dust just her upper arm.

"Maybe I am a useless child, just like my sister told me."

A sad smile appeared on Lin Mei's face.

A flash of memory appeared in his head. It was a memory of when he was still on Black Sand Island, when he had yet to meet Weng Lou in the Northern Heavens Sect.

Lin Mei was only eight years old. He stood face to face with his Big Brother who was three years older than him. She was a beautiful woman and was admired by Lin Mei.

But within that beauty, there was a cold and humbling dark feeling as she stood looking at Lin Mei.

"What do you want? I'm busy, just call your father or mother to accompany you to play" her brother said in an exasperated and cold voice.

Little Lin Mei looked unperturbed by her brother's remark, she felt her brother did indeed have such a nature so she did not take issue or feel strange. He cheerfully took out a fan hidden behind him.

"Here, I made it for brother! I collected some of my father's Vermilion Bird feathers that fell out every morning and put them together and made a fan out of it!"

With his machete Lin Mei walked towards her brother and thrust the fan from the feather at him. Big brother Lin Mei looked at the fan coldly and then turned her gaze to Lin Mei who was holding it.

Instead of being happy he showed an increasingly unfriendly face.

*father!*

He brushed the fan away from Lin Mei's hand and made the fan flung to the side.

"I've told you over and over again, don't act like you're familiar and close to me. We are brothers and sisters, but our relationship is only limited to status. You don't have to act like we're real brothers and sisters, I ignore you and you ignore me too. It's so easy, why don't you do it? Did you deliberately act familiar like that to lure me? What if you have a complete Phoenix bloodline?! You're nothing more than a bully fly to me!"

With annoyance big brother Lin Mei pushed Lin Mei's body and made her stumble down onto the floor.

He then walked past without even turning his head to look at Lin Mei.

When he had already left, Lin Mei who was on the floor immediately got up to her feet and walked up picking up the feather fan she made.

"Haaah. Though I've been working hard to make this fan with help from mom." Lin Mei sighed. He patted the fan slowly and cleaned the dust that was stuck because it fell to the floor.

"But I'm not giving up. One day you'll want to play with me like you used to, and we'll have fun spending time together."

The thought made the smile on Lin Mei's face become wider and she went to her room to save her artificial fan.

The memories then change.

Lin Mei was now nine years old. Based on his age, he was ready to be fully trained in martial arts and get lessons from his personal teacher.

Her brother, who had been disliking her all this time surprisingly invited Lin Mei to fight. At that time Lin Mei was already at the 3rd level Foundation Base even though she had never practiced martial arts before. This was because his complete Phoenix bloodline made him grow stronger as he grew older.

His twelve-year-old brother had been at the 11th level of the Foundation Base and would not be long after ascending to the 12th level of the Foundation Base and would ascend to the Soul Cleansing realm.

Because of this, many people disagreed with Lin Mei's brother's invitation, especially from Lin Mei's mother. But the Head of the Lin Family, who was none other than their father both surprisingly agreed to it with some requirements that big brother Lin Mei had to comply with.

The requirement was that he should not use his martial Practical Level strength, be it body strength, Deep Power, or Qi. He was only allowed to use the power of the Phoenix bloodline to fight with Lin Mei. Lin Mei would also only use the power of her Phoenix bloodline.

Lin Mei's brother supported her and she ended up fighting Lin Mei using her bloodline.

Unfortunately, Lin Mei's father did not take into account that letting this fight happen, would lead to destroying the fate of one of his daughters.

As for Lin Mei, she was able to shoot fireballs at her brother.

In her mind at that time, if she could defeat her brother, then her brother would acknowledge her and would be as kind to her as he used to be, unfortunately Lin Mei misinterpreted her brother's intentions and goals.

Although it differed greatly in terms of Martial Practice Level, Lin Mei was able to surpass her brother in fighting the bloodline power. Her brother continued to be cornered due to the fireballs fired by Lin Mei.

Just as her brother was about to lose, she took out something from inside her sleeve. No one was aware of this other than a few Elders and his father.

His hand was swung and his red flames suddenly turned slightly orange and hit Lin Mei's face.

Lin Mei cried out in pain as soon as she was hit by the flames. His face was burning, whereas before when his brother's fire hit him he would only feel a little warm. But this time it was different.

Lin Mei's face was burnt by dark orange flames and almost burned her entire face. Fortunately their father quickly took action and extinguished the fire from Lin Mei's face.

As the flames disappeared, there were considerable burns on the face around Lin Mei's eyes.

There was no sign of recovery from the burn, whereas the strength of his Phoenix bloodline was still active which should have healed him quickly.

The people watching were shocked by this and they started whispering to each other.

"You guys seen him?"

"Yes! Princess Mei's face did not heal after being exposed to that fire!"

"What does this mean?!"

"Stupid! That clearly meant that the power of the Phoenix bloodline belonging to Princess Mei was not as strong as her brother's!"

"But he has a complete bloodline!"

"Then? What if he had a complete bloodline? It's his strength that proves whether he's worthy or not."

"really so. His brother is much stronger than him. Having a complete bloodline didn't allow him to defeat his brother."

"Sadly. He had only made that complete Phoenix bloodline go to waste. It should be her brother who has it, why even her?"

The discussion was clearly heard in Lin Mei's father's ears, yet he paid no heed to it. All he cared about was his little daughter who was in his arms.

Lin Mei continued to grimace in pain even though the fire had been extinguished from her face.

Lin Mei's father's forehead shriveled. Of course he knew the cause Lin Mei looked so in pain. He looked up, and looked at his other daughter. Big brother Lin Mei looked nervous looking at her father's gaze.

"You've won. Now go and rest" he said.

He was about to say another lot more, but looking at the current situation, he could not. Not until everyone is gone.

"You've all been watching my two daughters fight. The fight was over, and Lin Nei had won the fight. Now you can go and get on with your work."

Everyone there was aware that their Head of Family was not happy with the discussion made by all of them. They quickly dispersed and left Lin Mei with her father and mother.

"Darling..it's....."

Lin Mei's mother walked over with a shocked face as she looked at her daughter's injured face.

Lin Mei's father was just silent. He released the Fire Phoenix Healer and burned Lin Mei's face. Recovery power immediately heals the burn. Lin Mei's grimacing expression started to subside and she fell asleep.

As his injuries were twenty completely, Lin Mei's father retracted his Phoenix Flame.

Instead of being relieved, her face turned gloomy as soon as she looked at Lin Mei's face.

"Which bastard dared to give Lin Nei the crystal powder with the will of destruction? I'll find him, and we'll see what you'll do when I burn his face." His hands were clenched and he gave the Lin Mei he had in his arms to his wife.

Lin Mei's mother's face looked much gloomier than her husband's. He took a cold breath and then tightly hugged the sleeping Lin Mei.

On Lin Mei's face, there was no longer her beautiful and innocent face. There was only a huge burn scar that damaged half of his face.
