Towards Eternity

Towards Eternity
Ch 626's. Mysterious Creature (II)

Lin Nushen's expression did not change in the slightest after listening to the man's report.

The giant creature resembles a human without a face that the man told him he had never heard or known at all. The creature was very strange in his ears.

Never had he heard of such a huge body creature for hundreds of years of his life.

His age had reached the age of five hundred years, during those five hundred years, there was no creature of that size that he had never heard of in the Mainland.

However, he recalled the location where the creature was found.

The man said there were many teleportation portals in the Life-Eating Desert that appeared all of a sudden and took people to unknown places.

"The hills of the land were dark gray, bones were strewn everywhere. Hmmmm....I'm like I've heard of such a place before, but where.....?" Lin Nushen muttered in a soft voice.

He looked at the man in front of him and asked, "Is there no other information?"

"There, the Head of the Family. One of my colleagues, who was also assigned to the Life-Eating Desert had decided to enter into one of the portals alone. He was inside the portal for several breaths, before then his figure was thrown out from within the teleportation portal and was already in a lifeless state. All the blood all over his body seemed to disappear, as if it was sucked out. The flesh also dries, leaving the skin with bones alone. Even his internal organs are completely dry. And also......" The man's explanation suddenly stopped.

Lin Nushen's forehead lifted next to and then frowned, looking at the man.

"And what too? Continue on!" he said in a cold voice.

*lek.....*

The man swallowed his saliva and continued.

"And so too.His heart completely vanished. Not dried up or crushed, but completely vanished without showing any residue. I thought he had been attacked by some kind of magic technique or something, yet there were no signs of assault on his body. His blood, flesh, and heart seemed to disappear and simply vanish."

Lin Nushen's expedition turned serious upon hearing this.

The man's explanation led him to think of a martial technique which is capable of absorbing the blood of his victims to strengthen himself. But the technique would not be able to make one's heart just vanish, without leaving even the slightest trace of injury.

"Don't tell anyone about this, do you understand?"

Quickly the man nodded.

"Good, you can go. Take your partner's body to the examination room. If anyone asks, say I told you to, so don't let anyone dare get close to him, or even check on him."

Once again the man nodded, and he hurriedly left the room after saluting Lin Nushen once more.

When the man left, Lin Nushen did not remain silent in the room either. He stepped foot out and went into the private room of Family Head Lin. This room had been passed down since ancient times, long before he was born, and had been occupied by the Lin Family Heads of countless generations.

In the room, there was a closet containing old books, as well as ancient paper scrolls.

All of them were the relics of the long-dead Heads of the Lin Family. They passed on their knowledge to the next generation of Family Heads through writings. This was an old custom in the Lin Family.

Even in the presence of memory jade, they still wore paper media.

Lin Nushen walked with calm footsteps towards the closet. Each step of his foot would cause a sound to echo in the room, although not too big. But because the room was not too big, his voice really echoed and did not stop reflected.

Standing right in front of the closet, Lin Nushen immediately picked up a few books from inside the closet which were all writing about the Life-Eating Desert inside. Controlling his Soul Power, he then made all the books and paper scrolls open before him.

This was a book written by the Patriarch of the Lin Clan about three thousand years ago. Back then, the Lin Family was better known by the name of the Lin Clan, and the Family Head was known as the Patriarch.

There was a reason why his vocation and mention had begun to change since the leadership of the two Family Heads before Lin Nushen. Lin Nushen did not know too much, but there certainly used to be no five great families, there were only three, the Weng Family, the Lin Family, and the Yang Family. The Ying Family and the Wang Family only appeared two thousand five hundred years ago, after two Soul Emperors had appeared within the two families and started to develop rapidly.

In the book written by the Patriarch of the Lin Clan, it is known that the Life-Eating Desert has existed since an unknown era. Its special environmental characteristics made it one of the Death Zones long ago.

There is a hidden paradise somewhere inside the Life-Eating Desert called Fu Lin Forest. In the forest, there is a small village called Fenmu Village that is inhabited by elderly people. But even so, all of them could not be underestimated, they were the number one people in when they were at their peak age.

It is said that they have skills in different fields and live in peace in the small village.

One of the Patriarchs of the Lin Clan was said to have once managed to find Fu Lin Forest and enter the village. After that, it was said that it had never been heard of again, and the leadership of the Lin Clan was taken over by his son.

Many rumors circulated about Fenmu Village that year, and it was said that there were terrible monsters living in it and were in a deep sleep.

If he wakes up, the world will end.

Lin Nushen stopped reading the book. There is no explanation for the land of hills and giant creatures, only the legend of the Fu Lin Forest that he found in the book.

"However, the deep-sleep monster in this story is most likely related to a human-like giant found inside a teleportation portal in the Life-Eating Desert" Lin Nushen said.

He immediately read another book.

Before long, he finally finished reading all the books and paper scrolls that were before him. But his expression was still the same as before. He still had not found any answer about the place where the land of hills with bones were scattered.

"No, these records contain only the knowledge of the Patriarchs and Heads of the Family until a hundred thousand years ago, none of which is beyond that time. Is there anything strange, where were the records of the previous Patriarchs kept? I just realized it today, it should be that the records the Lin Family has kept have been well preserved since the beginning of the Lin Family itself standing. The history of the Lin Family or Clan itself had existed for a very long time, it was even said to have existed since the martial system was first introduced."

If indeed the history of the Lin Family put up had been that long, then where were all the important records that their family had?

Lin Nushen's eyes suddenly reflected a strange light, and he immediately returned all the books and paper scrolls he had taken out earlier. There is no point in looking for information in this closet, because the real knowledge is not here, but elsewhere.

He had thought about it, if there was a place worth using to keep important records like family history, then it must be a place that was in his mind right now.

After returning everything to its original place, Lin Nushen started walking backwards and stood in the middle of the room.

On the floor, there is a carving depicting a Phoenix bird made from fine carvings. This painting has been around for a long time, and its age is as long as the age of the room itself.

Lin Nushen suddenly sliced through his wrist, and let blood drip out the blood of his iris wound. Blood dripped onto the floor and then began to fill the carvings of the Phoenix birds. The carvings were gray before, now turned into red-colored engravings due to Lin Nushen's blood.

After the entire image of the Phoenix on the floor was filled with blood, Lin Nushen healed his wound to the point of not showing any marks.

"I, Lin Nushen, the current generation Head of the Lin Family, requested permission for the Patriarchs and the previous Family Heads to enter the ancestral room," said Lin Nushen while twisting the power of the Phoenix bloodline within his body.

A dark red Phoenix appeared above his head. The Phoenix shrieked loudly, before then crashing into the Phoenix carving on the floor.

As soon as the Phoenix hit the carving, flames immediately flared up and covered the entire Phoenix carving.

Unexpectedly, the Phoenix carving turned into a teleportation portal that went nowhere. However Lin Nushen without hesitation immediately stepped his foot and jumped into the portal.

After he fully entered, the portal disappeared, and the Phoenix painting was again visible on the floor. However there were no traces of blood belonging to Lin Nushen. The floor was clean as if without any stains.
