Reyna POV.
This was my first day in Yogyakarta. For whatever the real reason, Papi asked me to temporarily hide from those who knew me. I just follow my in-laws. All for the good of me and Reynand, Papi said. Even to Mira I had to lie, and said if I asked to come with my in-laws to live in Solo. A little exaggerated indeed, but I ended up just according to what Papi ordered.
That night Windy's sister, Chaca, and her husband returned home to Solo, from the airport we separated. Me, Reynad and Grandma left for Yogyakarta. Grandpa's house is occupied by Mami and Papi. Because Papi had to take care of the headquarters, after the death of Rangga and Grandpa. The house in Solo was left empty.
Somehow the story I feel strange with Papi and Abi brother who lately look close. Brother Abi accompanied me to Yogyakarta. Abi even knew where I should stay after we got to the destination city.
With ushered by Abiyu, we finally arrived at the housing that would be my place to live, whether until when. All I know is someone sabotaged my husband's car until he got into an accident, so that me and Reynand might be in danger.
At 21:00 we entered a house. We occupy a modern minimalist house that is classified as elite. The housing was not far from the city and was quite close to the village where my aunt lived. There were only about five houses that were all facing the road. What I see is the impression of luxury in each building with its own characteristics. Arriving at my new home, Abi dropped off our belongings and helped to put them inside.
"Reyna, all your stuff I've put in. Here's the key to his house. Because it's late at night you should rest soon. I'll go home first. If you need anything, you can call me" Abi handed me the keys to the house.
"Thank you, Brother!" shortened kataku.
"Thank you, dear Abiyu for her help," said Grandma kindly.
"Yes, you're welcome, Grandma. Excuse me to go home first. Assalamu'alaikum."
"Wa'alaikumussalam."
My grandmother and I answered at the same time.
Abi's brother went to his parked car. He then started the engine of his car and left this residential area.
"Come on Reyn, we're going inside!" grandma precedes entry into the house. I followed him into the house and locked the door from the inside.
Luckily, Reynand slept soundly in my arms without being disturbed. Even on the plane this child is not at all fussy.
I looked in all directions inside the house. The house is quite comfortable and clean. The furniture is complete. Looks like this house has been cleaned and tidied up before I occupied it. I entered my room to immediately rest and put Reynand on the bed. A while passed I took out my suitcase and tidied the clothes into the cupboard.
Not felt, the clock on the wall has shown at 01:30. But I am still awake. My eyes can't seem closed. I am a stranger to this room and miss my room in Jakarta. A place where we spent beautiful nights together. Many memories have been etched between us there. However, I had to give up on leaving those most beautiful places and living in this strange place.
I missed you, By! I really miss you! Why did you have to leave me so soon, By! You haven't even heard Reynand call you Papa! Reynand needs you, By! My heart aches, remembering our separation in a different world. I won't be able to touch you and hold you when I need a backrest. I can no longer get a warm kiss on my forehead. I can no longer kiss the back of your hand to get ridho from you. Where can I find you, By? I need you so much! I love you so much and forever love you, Rangga!
Those thoughts just kept on shadowing me. I shed tears so badly.
Suddenly I felt a touch in my head. Something warm I've ever felt. I initially curled up on my bed, then allowed my sleeping position properly. I saw my husband in front of me. I was shocked and sat down immediately.
"Hubby!" I said as I hugged him.
I looked up and saw his face. Rangga smiled at me. Then I put my body back in his arms. He's pecking at my head. Rangga stroked my hair with great affection. I held my arms around her body to let go of all my longing. I don't want him to leave me alone anymore. I want to be with him always!
"Reyn.., Reyna!" it was like hearing someone call me.
"Reyna...!" call again.
I reluctantly relaxed my embrace with my husband.
I blinked open my closed eyes.
"Grandma!" peekkikku when he found grandma in front of me while carrying a crying Reynand in her cradle.
"Reynand, wept since!" granny Say.
I soared up from my sleep and took Reynand out of Grandma's hands.
"Sorry Nek, Reyna didn't hear Reynand's cries at all!" I said as I rubbed my wet cheeks, then sat on the sofa in the room and began breastfeeding my son.
"What's wrong, you must be very tired. Grandma's back in the room yeah, soon morning!" said grandma while rubbing my shoulder.
"Good, Grandma. Thank you!"
The grandmother who was about to leave turned to me and nodded, then resumed her steps.
Now I realize I was asleep. And the hug I felt from my husband was just a dream. This is the first time Rangga came to me in a dream. Although very disappointed, but I am happy to see him again even though a moment in a dream.
The next day Bi Lastri came with Dina. The distance from my aunt's house to the house I now live in is only five minutes by car. Bi Lastri came to bring food for us breakfast, also cooking vegetables and side dishes.
"Where do you know if I moved here?" I asked bi Lastri.
"Son Abi, three days ago came to Bibi's house and told her you were going to stay here. Nak Abi asked Auntie for help to have people clean this house and provide all your needs here. He said it was an order from your father-in-law" said bi Lastri.
"Sister Abi?" I was surprised and immediately looked at Grandma as if looking for surprise on her face. However, grandma looked calm like nothing had happened.
I wonder if Grandma knew?Is there something they're hiding from me that I'm the only one who knows nothing about all this?
I went through the same routine. Inside the house take care of Reynand and take care of the house. Chatting with grandma, and often auntie comes with Dina to invite Reynand to play.
There was a housekeeper who helped me take care of the house. That's also Abi's brother who sought it through the services of ART providers. I have long been annoyed by Abi's help and attention all this time. I'm afraid he's expecting something I can't possibly give.
"Sister, I'm very grateful for Brother's help all this time. But please, brother Abi trust me, let me take care of myself. Brother Abi also does not need to bother to come here often. I know Abi must be busy with Abi's job too?" I asked Abi's brother who looked at me in wonder, "If Papi asked just say Abi's brother has done what Papi asked. I'm sure nothing bad will happen to me in the future."
Abi kept silent listening to my words. There was a clear stroke of disappointment on his face.
"Alright, sorry if my presence bothers you. I wouldn't have come again if it wasn't you who asked me to come. Assalamu'alaikum!"
I feel guilty for him. My words must have hurt her heart. However, it was much better for her that she did not expect me anymore. As a woman, I could feel that her attention was more than my sympathy. And I won't let him get hurt any more. Brother Abi deserves a much better woman than me. Because I will never turn away from Rangga. I'm determined, just gonna focus on taking care of Reynand until he grows up.
Since then Abi's brother has never come to my house again.
"La, can you really cook and take care of the house?" I asked Lala, my new house assistant.
Lala is only 17 years old. He dropped out of school because his parents could not afford to pay for his schooling.
"Can, Mom. I've been working on ART for a year, too, Mom. A month ago they moved to Bandung. So that I am unemployed," said Lala.
"Call me Ma'am. Now you can start working. If there's something you don't know, you can tell me" I told the boy.
Turns out Lala did all her work well. Over time we got used to each other and were close. I consider him like my own brother.
I asked Lala to go after package C and I paid for it. Because I know Lala's a diligent kid and she's pretty smart. I hope one day he can get a much better job than he is now. Her future is long, and everyone deserves to live happily, and so does Lala.
It didn't feel like six months had passed, I went through the same routine. I was bored constantly being at home. But there's nothing I can do. Lucky bi Lastri and Dina often come to invite Reynand to play.
Reynand is now learning to walk and is very active. Grandma who is getting older can not take care of her own. So when I have to go without Reynand, I'll drop him off at Lastri's house.
That afternoon I rode a motorcycle with Lala holding Reynand, for a while in the house bi Lastri. When I got to Aunt's yard, it just so happened that Aunt was on the porch.
"Assalamu'alaikum's chat. Bi. Nitip Reynand huh, Bi? Reyna wanted to do some monthly shopping with Lala" I told my aunt.
"Wa'alaikumussalam's chat. Wow Grandma is very happy in the handsome Tengokin. Let's play with the cat, Nand!"
Aunty takes Reynand and holds him, then takes him inside.
"Be careful on the road, Reyn!" said aunt from inside the house.
"Yes, Bi," I replied.
Lucky Reynand seems to be in accordance to be carried with people he already knows. And usually aunty would take her inside so Reynand wouldn't cry when she found out I left her.
When I got on my bike, there was a car that stopped in front of my aunt's yard, and blocked my way. So I undo my intention to immediately gas, and wait first until the owner of the car comes out from the inside.
The door opened to see Dina who was about to get out of the passenger bench. A man came out around his car and wanted to help Dina.
"Do you want me to help you, Din?" said the man who turned his back on me.
"It can be, Mom," replied Dina.
The man finally let Dina walk alone then turned around and looked at me.
He and I were just as surprised when we realized we knew each other.
"Reyna!" said it.
"Hipe!" I said almost simultaneously.
"Mbak Reyna knows Dipa?" ask Dina while walking towards me.
"Ehh, your leg why Din?" I noticed Dina's limping leg.
"So Dina Kesrempet time to buy lunch in front of the campus, Ma'am. Fortunately there was Dipa mas nolongin," said Dina.
"Come on in first!"
Lala and I helped get Dina inside and left Dipa alone.
"Why, Nduk?" exclaimed the aunt who saw us enter the room, while memapah Dina.
"It's okay, Mom. Dina just blisters on the legs out of falling!" dina said while lying on the bed.
"I'm ahead, huh, Din? Maybe Dipa is still in front," I said as I moved out of the room.
I approached Dipa who was still waiting on the terrace while sitting in a long chair.
"How are you, Dip?" ask me while sitting at the other end of the chair.
"Well, Reyn. How can you be here?" ask Dipa.
"It's my Aunt's house, Dip," I answered briefly.
"So you and Dina are still brothers?" ask Dipa, then say, "The world is narrow huh, Reyn. It's good to see you again!"
"Yes, that's it. I've been living here for half a year, Dip!" Reyna.
"Old dong, Reyn! How come we never met? Where do you live, Reyn?" Dipa told me with her question.
"In the housing next to this village, Dip. I rarely go too, just at home just keep the same child taking care of the house," said Reyna.
"What else you want. Rich you tuh diem at home money has come by itself. Why bother going outside the house. Sultan mah's wife is free!" janda Dipa with a crisp laugh.
I just kept quiet and smiled and responded.
"Eh sometime I stop by the house you can't, Reyn?" ask Dipa.
Again I just kept quiet, confused as to what to answer. I don't want Dipa to know that my husband is dead. I don't want to invite sympathy or attention from other men.
"Can't you? Yeah, I won't stop by. You must be afraid your husband is angry!" said Dipa in a disappointed tone, "Yes I've come home first yes, Reyn. Please say the same, Dina and her mother. Assalamu'alaikum!"
Dipa went to her car.
"Wa'alaikumussalam!" answer's short.
I'd rather shut up and leave him with this misunderstanding. I've been pretty comfortable and happy living together with Reynand. I will be a mother and father to my son.
