Adinda POV.
Drrtt....
I just closed my eyes, heard a cell phone ringing on the nightstand. This net is still reluctant to open. I fumbled the nightstand with my eyes closed. However, by the time my hand reached the phone, the call was over.
I squirm lazily. Slowly I opened my eyes. Scroll clock on the nightstand, it turns out it's already at two in the morning. Though it feels like only a moment these eyes closed.
I breathe out slowly. I removed the sturdy arm that was coiled possessively in my stomach. Since that night, Devin and I have been sleeping in the same bed with the bolster as the barrier. However, again I woke up with Devin's position to make me as the bolster.
Drrtt.
Just now I wanted to continue venturing into dreamland, but again the ringing of the phone was heard repeatedly.
"Who the hell's calling these nights?" I'm pissed off.
I grabbed the phone I put back on the nightstand. I saw who called me in the middle of the night.
"Love," I muttered, "What's wrong?"
Quickly I slide the green phone handle icon up. Instantly my shadow caught the sound of a sobbing across there.
"Hello Sin, what's wrong?" much worry.
"Din, Din's boutique," said Sinta in between sobs.
"What's wrong with Sin's boutique? Why are you calling me crying?" my pedicabs.
"Butik why Sin?" ask me again when all I hear is a sob across there.
"Our bun-butik fires Din," explained Sinta.
"WHAT?" I was suffocated in shock at the statement Sinta made.
The phone I was holding fell into my lap. My body feels weak and powerless. I wish this was just a dream, but when I pinch this arm it hurts. Without feeling these tears flowing down the cheeks.
"Din, what's wrong?" ask Devin.
I looked at the origin of the voice. I found Devin sitting there staring at me. Maybe he woke up to my screams.
"What's up, hmm?" ask again.
"Butik Dev, my boutique is on fire" I replied.
"WHAT?" squeal Devin. It turns out Devin's reaction wasn't much different from mine.
"Can you take me there now?" my door with a sad face.
"All right" replied Devin.
I saw Devin get off the bed. He took his jacket hanging on the wall. Then head to the closet and get me a jacket.
"Wear it" said Devin, handing over my jacket which he had just picked up.
Devin snatched his phone, wallet, and car keys on the nightstand. Then took me out to the boutique. Devin and I are both still in pajamas. Where could we change clothes in a precarious situation like this.
I just kept quiet on the way. My mouth is locked tight. Only clear circles continue to drip on the cheeks.
Soon the car we were driving arrived. Devin parked his car a little away from the boutique. I rushed down and ran through the crowd. It appears in front of there the damkar officers and many residents are busy extinguishing the flames that spread. Not only did my boutique catch fire, some of the shophouses and houses burned down.
Immediately my body fell to the ground. I can't hold back the tightness that's lingering in my chest. Seeing the sight before my eyes made my cry even more. The boutique I started from scratch with my two friends is now ashes. My dreams since childhood are now devoured by embers of fire.
Someone thrust his hand in front of me. I looked up and saw Devin standing with his arms outstretched before me. My God, I was too panicked to forget Devin's whereabouts.
I received Devin's helping hand which invited me to stand up. I put my hand on Devin's waist. I leaned my head against the chest of the field which made me feel a little calm.
"Calm down" said Devin as his hand stroked my back.
"You wait there, Din. I want to help put out the fire" Devin said as his hand pointed to the spot where the women and children were.
Devin led me to where he had just shown me. I can't seem to step up without help. Then Devin sat me in the chair.
"Wait here, ok," said Devin who was only responded with a nod of his head by me. Then he went to join the others to put out the fire.
Shortly thereafter, the fire was extinguished. There were no fatalities in the fire, but losses ranged from hundreds of millions. Luckily all the designs I had made had already been handed over to the tailor by Alia. Even though I suffered a loss due to this incident, at least I don't have to pay penalty to my offenders.
Sinta and Alia came to me. We hugged each other. They lose each other. I know they're just as beaten up as I am. They are living witnesses to my struggle to achieve my dreams.
My head feels heavy, but I try to act normal in front of my friends. I don't want to worry them. However, the longer the pain was unbearable, until everything felt dark. My body fell to the ground and I don't remember anything after that.
When I woke up, I saw ceilings and walls that were predominantly white. The typical fragrance of drugs smelled my sense of smell. In my left hand was stuck in an infusion tube, while in my right hand was a hand that held me tightly. It must be very uncomfortable to fall asleep in a sitting position like Devin.
Slowly I tried to take my hand off Devin's, but my movements made Devin wake up. I smiled at Devin who was looking at me.
"Are you aware of Din?" ask Devin.
I can only nod. It feels like this tongue is too funny to just speak. I saw Devin push the button on top of the patient's cage. Soon a doctor and nurse came into the room to check on me. They came back out after making sure I was okay.
"Assalamualaik." The greeting in the doorway made me and Devin turn at the same time.
"Waalaikumsalam," we answered in unison.
Mama Intan and papa Bima stepped in towards me who was lying helplessly. Devin stood up and invited Mama Intan to sit down.
"How are you, dear" asked Mama Intan worriedly.
"It's okay Ma, don't worry" I replied.
My eyes looked heavy, probably due to the effect of the medicine that the doctor had injected through my infusion tube, for me to rest. It did not take long now I was closed and ready to explore the dream world.
I don't know how long I slept, when I woke up I saw Devin sleeping curled up on the sofa. I smiled, even though Devin did not love me, but at least he still had empathy for me.
