LET ME BE HAPPY

LET ME BE HAPPY
chapter 39

"Let's go Pa, faster. We gotta get there before the judge knocks the hammer, Pa. Mama doesn't want the kids to separate, Pa," insisted Intan on her husband. Every now and then the net sees a circular watch in his hand.

"Patience, Ma. This is Papa speeding," said Bima.

They are now on their way to a religious court. Intentionally, they did not notify the divorce lawsuit filed by Adinda's side to Devin.

Devin's condition, which has been so bad since his wife's departure, is one of the reasons they did not tell him the bad news.

"d. Why use jammed everything again," grumbled Bima.

Meanwhile in the religious court, the trial is underway. Since neither side was present to mediate, it was decided that there was no hope of them being together. The judge also tapped the hammer to sign that the divorce judgment has been completed. Adinda and Devin are now officially ex.

"Thank you, sir, for your help" said Fathan, shaking the hand of Indra, the lawyer.

"Sama-sama Sir. This has indeed become my duty," replied Mr. Indra, "Then I apologize first yes, sir," said Mr. Indra resigned.

"Oh yes sir, please," said Fathan.

They split up in the lobby. After Indra was not seen again, Fathan then moved to the parking lot. However, his hand had not yet opened the car door, there was a voice of someone calling his name.

"Fathan, wait," Intan cried when he saw Fathan about to open his car door. She and her husband arrived at the parking lot.

Fathan turned to the source of the voice. His forehead frowned trying to remember who the woman who had called him was, as well as the man beside the woman who was now walking hastily towards him.

"Sorry, who are you?" ask Fathan. He tried to remember it but still he forgot.

"I'm Intan and this is my husband, Bima," Intan said as he introduced himself.

"Sorry, do we know each other?" ask Fathan.

"We met twice. First, the time of your wedding with Mila and the second time of Mila's pregnancy. I am Mila's best friend, your late wife" explains Intan.

"Oh, it's appropriate that your names are familiar to me, just sorry I can't remember you guys" Fathan said.

"It's okay. We understand," said Bima.

"Sorry, can we talk to you for a second?" ask Intan to Fathan.

"Byeah" replied Fathan.

The three of them went to the cafe located next to the religious court. Ordering drinks just to accompany the chat.

"Sorry, what do you want to say?" ask Fathan to the point.

"Look, it's about our kids." Intan took a deep breath and exhaled slowly.

"What do you mean?" ask Fathan doesn't understand.

"My husband and I apologise profusely on behalf of my son, Devin. Actually they love each other, so I beg you not to have a farewell between them," please Intan.

"So that man is your son?" ask Fathan.

Fathan does not know this fact. The only information he knew was the marriage of his daughter to a man named Devin Putra Wijaya. He did not expect his daughter's ex-husband was the son of his late wife's best friend.

"Yes, Devin is our son," replied Bima steadily.

"If they love each other, there's no way my daughter will get hurt on her own. What kind of love does your son have? Connecting with another woman while tying a sacred promise to my daughter." Fathan exhaled heavily before continuing his sentence.

"Even the cruel man you call a child has incised a deep wound, thus keeping my daughter locked away." Hard to feel every time he remembered his own daughter who was devastated.

"I know you're good people. You willingly helped my late wife and daughter back then. However, it will not guarantee that your son is down to the good qualities of both parents." He stared at the two people who were now only able to shut up in front of him.

"Thank you for all the service you have done. But sorry, I can't grant you the request you're expecting. The verdict has been completed and now they are no longer a couple" explained Fathan at length.

"WHAT?" pekik Intan could not believe it.

"That's reality. Sorry, I have to step down. There's still a lot of work in the office waiting." said Fathan.

Intan was in his place. He had no idea that it would all end so soon. He still hoped that all he heard was hallucinations.

"How is this, Pa? Poor our son. As a result of his actions, now he must lose his chance," tweeted Intan.

"Patience, Ma. We will both think about the solution. Now, let's go home. Papa also has to go to the office." Bima carried the hand of Intan in her grasp.

They finally came home without any good news. No one said a word during the trip. They are immersed in each other's thoughts.

The next day, Devin was ready in his work suit. For almost a month he has not set foot in the office. He gave his papa leave to find his wife's whereabouts, although he has not found a bright spot.

"For Ma, morning Pa," said Devin. He pulled out a chair and sat himself at the table.

"Morning, Honey. So, you're going to the office today?" tanya Intan.

"Yes, Ma." replied Devin.

Devin took a piece of bread and smeared it with his favorite chocolate jam. He remembered his wife. He so missed the taste of cooking made by his wife.

"Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh." Devin smothered his mouth with both palms. Then ran towards the sink to spit out his entrails. His throat felt choked as the bread entered his mouth.

"Why him?" bima asked astonished to see Devin running with both hands covering his mouth.

"Well, you ask Mama, who do you want to ask?" ask Intan.

"Excuse me. Sorry sir, Madam," said bi Inah while adjusting her breath that was frenzied because she ran away from outside.

"Yes Bi, what's wrong?" ask Intan.

"This is Madam, there's a package for Devin's den." Bi Inah handed over the letter she had just received from a courier.

"Thank you, Bi," said Bima while receiving a letter proffered by bi Inah to her.

"Then excuse me, sir, Madam," said bi Inah resigned. He bowed himself before passing from before his master.

"What letter is Pa?" ask Intan. Her hand pointed at an envelope held by her husband.

"It's Ma. Mama, look at it for yourself." Bima thrust the envelope in her hand at the wife.

Intan received an envelope proffered by her husband. Without even opening it, he knew what the chocolate envelope contained.

"Don't let Devin know the contents of this brown envelope, Pa," Intan said. He did not realize that Devin was standing behind him.

"What can't Devin know, Ma?" ask Devin.

"Devs." Intan turned his head and found his son folding his forehead in front of him. Then he gave the envelope to be read by his son.

Devin squinted his eyes as he read the inscription on the brown envelope. He ventured to see the contents. His hand trembled as he read the series of characters written in it.

His body fell to the floor with a glazed Netra. He's not ready for all this. Should he lose his chance after he realizes that Adinda means so much in his life.

Intan and Bima also feel the same sadness. Which parent is unharmed when he sees his only son destroyed like this.

"I'm sorry, Din. Ii'm sorry. I'm sorry I was late to feel. Please don't be like this. I admit I was wrong. Is there a chance for us to make up? Once again, forgive me," inner Devin sobbed. He deeply regrets his actions that led to his wounds.
