POV Ivan's
Flashback fifteen years ago...
My world crumbled as I watched the person I loved so much as it was slowly being lowered into a pit. My beautiful dream is now turning dark. All of this is like a nightmare in my sleep.
'Adinda Putri', the sweet girl who has been loyal to me for one year, now she has left and cannot return. We once promised we would step together into the guarantee after graduating from college later. However, he broke all the promises he made. Now he is down there with a promise that will never come true.
The days I spent making friends were lonely. I was an introvert. Only he was always faithful to accompany me. But now he has left me alone.
I drove my car without direction or purpose. When I got to a lake, I stopped my car. I was crying behind the steering wheel.
I went down and stepped onto a bench by the lake. I screamed as loud as I could while calling out his name.
"Om what the hell is shouting call Adin? Do you know where Adin's name came from?" ask a little girl out of nowhere.
"Hey little girl. Who called you? What did you say, om? Oh come on, I'm only twenty." I'm pissed off. This kid could call me om. Does my face look very old?
"What do you want to call?" tanyanya.
"No, no more, not anymore" I said.
"OK Brother. Brother, why are you screaming? If you don't call Adin, who do you call?" ask again.
"Not just yelling anymore to call the name of the lover of Big Brother who is now up there," pointed me to the sky.
"Where? There's nothing up there." I patted my forehead slowly. I forgot that what I was talking to was a little boy who wouldn't understand the parable.
"I mean Brother, Brother's lover is dead," I explained.
"What is love, brother?" tanyakanya.
"Hem, that lover is like a friend" I replied. It felt like I wanted to pinch the squashy cheek of the little girl beside me who looked round like a bakpao.
"Oh, man. Like his father Adin dong Kak? Mother said Adin's father died, continuing to be a star in the sky. It's late afternoon, there are no stars. Brother's friend so what's up there?" tanyakanya.
I scratched my nape that wasn't itchy. What answer would I give to this innocent little girl. In the end, I can only keep staring deep into the past. Without feeling clear bulir rolling wet the cheeks.
"Sister don't cry. Cup cup cup." That tiny hand wiped the tears on my cheek.
I smiled considering that I was not easily familiar with others, now can issue a lot of vocabulary when with a little girl who claimed to have a name similar to Adinda.
"Adin though had no father, but Adin never cried. If it's Brother, does it still have a father or is it the same as Adin?" tanyakanya.
"Silver has complete parents, there is papa sama mama, there is a sister too," I replied as I scrambled a long mane squash wearing a ribbon-shaped bandana.
"Sister, um. Adin's hair is this mess" he protested. I laughed and helped her hair back up.
"So, you still have a dad?" ask again. It turned out that this little girl had a talent for being a journalist. Lots of questions and not easily distracted. I just nodded in response.
"Sister should not be sad. Just like Devin, he's got papa and mama. Sweetie died but she didn't cry" she said.
Who else is Devin and Sweet? Uh wait, sweetie, looks like a cat name. I exhaled a long breath. Clearly his condition. There's no way I can't be sad when someone I hope to be my future can only be my past.
"Adin, Honey. Where is adin?" I heard someone calling the little girl beside me from a distance.
I smiled as I looked at the little girl who was running while jumping up and down. His momentary presence was able to forget my sadness for a moment. If we were the same age, maybe I'd ask her to be my wife.
I shook my head. There's no way I'm falling in love with the little girl I just met. Besides, I don't want to be stamped as ped*f*l.
I left the lake to go home. I haven't been home in a few days. Mama and Papa must be worried about me.
Flashback...
I stared straight at the distance. Remember my first meeting with a girl named Adinda. Maybe I could avoid falling in love at first sight. However, when we are reunited, there is a strange swish that perched in the heart.
But baby, it seems like all this is too late for me to express. She's pregnant, which means she already has a husband. However, for three days she was hospitalized, never once did I meet her husband. Does this mean I still have hope?
"Ivan, Mama called from earlier, but it was not answered," said mama. His words broke my daydreams about the past.
"What's up, Ma?" ask me, even though I know exactly what the answer is.
"Why not go to a restaurant you already recommend? Poor son of your man to wait. Aunt Vio called Mama, said her son was crying because you didn't come" said mama blaming me.
Yeah, my mama always arranges blind dates for me every weekend, but never once have I come. In my heart there is only one name. A woman I could never pin down in real life.
"Ivan's busy, Ma," I said.
"Busy keeps your excuses. When will you give your mother a grandchild? Look at that your sister, the Beautiful, is now the second child. You are thirty-five years old. How long will you wait until when, Ivan? Mom is just as dad is getting older. How about later if we are not strong to carry grandchildren again." said mama bergebu as he sat himself in the chair on this balcony.
I let out a long sigh. It's always like this. I know my mom wanted a granddaughter from me, but I don't know if I ever wanted another woman after Adinda's departure.
However, after my meeting with the little girl at the lake, it made me smile all the time when I remembered her adorable face. Even though the desire to have it I have to swallow it back.
"Later at night you come with your mom to the house of our friend who used to nyomblangin mommy equally papa. We haven't been there in a long time. You too, never wanted Mama ajakin to go there. Papa was busy managing the company alone so we did not have time to go there. You're better at being a doctor than taking care of the company." Always blame me.
"Ok, this time Ivan came, but Ivan did not want to be there later there is a match-making event again." I looked at my mother who smiled meaningfully. Huft, I've guessed.
Later that night, we went to the house of friends mama and papa who said they had betrothed them until they became a halal couple until now. I hope this time it's not me who's being betrothed.
A large house with a towering fence was now in front of me. Papa honks and security opens the gate for us.
We were warmly welcomed by the host in this house. Hey wait, aren't they the ones I met not too long ago. My smile rose when I saw the girl I liked being among them. My eyes cannot be separated from her.
"Ivan, Ivan." My mom nudged my arm repeatedly.
"What?" tanyaku.
Mama pointed at the hand of oma Fani hanging with her chin. My God, Adinda's charm makes me forget that in this room we are not both. I smiled awkwardly as I greeted them one by one.
When I shake the hand of Adinda, again her charm is able to make this body freeze. Her sweet smile is so charming.
"Ehem." Deheman's voice from om Fathan awakens me from his daughter's charm.
I smiled awkwardly as all eyes looked at me with an inexplicable look. We also walked together into the living room.
"He didn't want a matchmaking event. What was that?" whispered my mother in my ear.
If they match me with Adinda, it is certain there will be no rejection from me. But what about her husband? I can only give in to the destiny of life I will live.
