Cole and Adam stood side by side, peering out from the edge of the balcony.
"The view is so good" Cole whispered to Adam who was amazed by the view he got from the top floor because he seemed to be able to see the whole of Brooklyn.
"You go first" Cole said.
"Why not" accepts Adam, who has prepared himself for the story he will give Cole, who has as much truth as he can tell Cole, without revealing the Underground Prison System.
"Well, I'll start with the reason I left school. High School was a fun time and probably the best time of my life with me, you, Emma and Sarah were always together and enjoying our time, but everything changed when my aunt fainted.
The doctors thought he had simply fainted from overwork, but after a few days of not waking up, he was diagnosed as a coma patient.
After seeing everything that my aunt had gone through for me and doing two jobs so that I could study and live a normal life without worry, I couldn't just let her go into a coma without anyone paying her medical bills and I also needed money to survive, so I just left school to work.
I change jobs, sometimes become homeless and hungry when I can't find a job and have to spend all my money on my aunt's medical bills, and struggle to live and think about giving up.
After two years, I thought it was over until one day an old man saw me sleeping on the street and gave me a job and money to clean myself up.
For the past half a year I have been working under him and training my body every day, because it is so weak, and managed to put myself in this position" Adam narrated, with pain and sadness in her eyes as she contemplated her past.
"Basic stupid idiot" humiliated Cole while slapping Adam's head.
"You may turn to me as your brother to help you, but you bear the burden of all alone. You know I also take care of your aunt because she also treated me well after my mother died, but you decided to keep me in the dark" Cole said after hearing all that Adam had experienced.
Cole's mother died when he was very young and he always felt lonely, because his father was always busy and working, until Adam befriended him and played with him every day.
Cole over the years became like a brother to Adam and another son to Adam's aunt because he was with them almost every day, with his father never having much time for him, and they were always happy together.
And hearing all that had happened to Adam and his aunt, without him noticing, was a slap in the face.
"I don't want to be a burden to you. It's all in the past now and I'm going to find a way to help my aunt" Adam said, not wanting to, himself trying to handle everything alone, to remain the topic of conversation.
"You know I support you, man, if you ever struggle, you can always turn to me" Cole urged.
"Same to you" Adam agreed as they shared a deep hug.
"Well, not long ago when I went to a nearby club, just wanted to see what it was like, and I saw a girl being harassed by some guy. So just like everyone else did in that situation, I went blind.eyes and walked away" narrated Adam with a wry smile as Cole began to laugh.
"After that, he chased me, I had to fight the men and beat them, then we both recognized each other and that was Sarah. Not long after I found out about her father, also in a bad state like my aunt. So, I paid off his father's bill that he couldn't afford and I allowed him to stay at my place because he was so short of money." Adam continued.
"Nothing else" Cole asked with a mischievous smile, giving Adam a wink.
"Oh yeah, I quit my job and gave all my savings to Sarah to make business for us" Adam said.
"What" exclaimed Cole in shock at what appeared to be a foolish decision.
"What if it doesn't work and you can't make any profit, what are you going to do" Cole shouted.
"Well, my brother is rich and can always give a poor friend a little from him" Adam joked, as they both laughed out loud.
"So what about you, what you've been doing for the last few years" Adam asked after they finished laughing.
"Hmmm, where do I start. Not much happened to me. I finished high school and after graduating from high school had a few vacations with Emma as it turned out, my father was very rich and had a lot of business. I enjoyed myself with my father's money and have since been cold" Cole said simply.
"Are you going to college" asked Adam.
"No, ever since I was 18, I have learned under my father's direction to take over his business as an adult and they will be passed on to me when I'm 21" cole said proudly.
"Technically we're brothers. So, we share" joked Adam.
"Yes certainly" insisted Cole cynically.
They chatted on the balcony together for hours, reminiscing and laughing at the old memories they shared.
Until Adam suddenly heard a notification in his mind.
{It's almost 10pm and you will be taken to the dungeon in 30 sec} system announced.
"Damn" cried Adam suddenly, completely forgetting the time.
