"Do I look hard to be happy?"
Zaira wiped away her dripping tears.
Brian did not reply, he saw the sadness in Zaira now.

Zaira sat down on the sofa, she cupped her face with both hands and cried a mouthful. Somehow seeing Brian so hard made him feel his struggle over the past few years was futile.
Brian did not flinch, he looked at his ex-wife with a glare. He did not understand why Zaira was asking that, nor did he understand what made Zaira cry.
Brian ventured closer, sat next to him and gently stroked Zaira's hair that was still crying.
