Chapter 3 The Substitute Secretary

A year and a half passed.

Sebastian became a man who grew stiff and cold in women. He spent his time focusing on work and developing MegaCyber.

Several times his parents took a vacation together but the man refused. Sebastian chose to busy himself rather than relax with a vacation. Such a condition would make his mind re-remember his memories with Shera.

Sebastian called Dion on the phone at his desk. Not long after, the tall thin-postured man had already appeared and stood in front of his boss' desk.

“When Widya will stop working?” Sebastian asked without looking at Dion. His gaze was still focused on a single document file that he had to sign this afternoon.

“After next month, Sir. So about 3 weeks away.”

Sebastian leaned his back against the chair and breathed heavily.

“Have you checked the background of his replacement ? What's his name ?”

“I've asked Aldo to browse all his social accounts, sir, and find information about the replacement for Mbak Widya.”

Sebastian put the two fingers together and put them close to his lips. She was dizzy when Widya, a senior secretary who had worked at MegaCyber for more than 10 years resigned because she would follow her husband to move duties out of town.

Widya has been Sebastian's secretary ever since she started helping daddy Richard run the company 5 years ago. Widya was previously an assistant to Dewi, secretary to daddy Richard.

Widya has already prepared her replacement. But Sebastian feels doubt despite Widya sudsah giving assurances that his successor will be able to work well like him. The problem is that the woman who will replace Widya is still 21 years old while Widya herself is 35 years old. In terms of age, it is certain that from the experience of his successor is still very minimal.

Dion placed a map on Sebastian's desk and moved closer to his boss. Sebastian took it and opened it.

“His name is Kirana Gunawan, he is 21 years old. Graduate school secretary with diploma. Never worked as a secretary, since graduating for a year have worked as a cashier, waiter and SPG (sales promotion girl). Just the last 3 months worked as a junior secretary, but did not continue his probation because it was considered tempting boss by his own boss wife.”

Sebastian scrunched up his forehead to explain Dion. His gaze was fixed on the fitting of the photo attached to the cover letter he was reading. Sebastian is so confused why Widya gives references to this kind of girl ? Is he able to become the secretary of a CEO class Sebastian full of duties and responsibilities ?

“What HRD does not try to find a selection of candidates lannya-?” Sebastian looked at Dion while squinting his eyes.

“Mbak Widya has spoken to Mr. Rano (HRD Manager) and asked not to look for another secretary for the next 3 months. Ms Widya made sure that her choice would be her replacement.”

Sebastian was shaking his head with a visibly irritated face.

Two days ago he spoke directly with Widya about his successor's secretary. Widya kekeh asks Sebastian to give Kirana a chance to replace him. Widya guarantees that her choice will not disappoint Sebastian. And what makes Sebastian even more upset, Richard's existing daddy at that time gave support to Widya's request.

“Maybe Widya is right, Bas. You need a young secretary to make your life more alive and vibrant again.”

Sebastian immediately looked at daddy Richard who spoke while chuckling.

“What does Daddy mean?” sebastian asked with an annoyed face.

“Are you not bored with women like Widya and rigid assistants like Dion?” daddy Richard chuckled again as he looked at his son.

“I'm happy because Mr. Richard has the same view as me,”

Widya did not take offense to say the woman aged by Mr. Richard, instead she responded positively to the words of her former boss.

Sebastian snorted dejectedly at the compactness of his daddy and secretary.

“Pak Sebastian, please believe in this choice of mine. Give Kirana 6 months, and if she still can not meet the criteria of Mr, she can be fired as secretary Mr.” pinta Widya with a pleading face.

“6 months ?” Sebastian snorted in annoyance. “Too long ! I will only give him 3 months according to the rules of the probation. If he fails, I'll have Mr. Rano immediately find a replacement.”

“Thank you Mr. Sebastian,” Widya nodded her head. “I will make sure that Kirana will work as much as possible for 3 months.”

Sebastian's facial complexion turns irritated if he remembers his conversation with Widya and daddy Richard.

“Pak Sebastian. Sir.”

Dion who had since noticed his silent boss daydreamed approached and moved his hands in front of Sebastian's face.

“You why the hell ?” Sebastian immediately brushed off Dion's annoying hand in front of his face.

Dion retreated back and stood in front of Sebastian's table.

“So when will he start working here ?” sebastian asked while poking the map containing the data of his successor's secretary.

“Day Monday, Sir. Ms Widya will teach it first.”

“Awas only if the choice of Widya even makes me more dizzy!” sebastian's nagging while pushing hard the map in front of him to return to Dion.

Dion smiled faintly seeing the annoyed face of his boss discussing about a substitute secretary. There was one piece of information he didn't pass on to Sebastian. Dion is convinced that Sebastian will immediately refuse if he knows that Kirana is a brave girl who does not hesitate to fight against her superiors or customers who dare to be unkind.

Dion thinks Sebastian needs such an employee as part of his core team at work. Dion hopes that the girl with the character Kirana is able to give a new color in Sebastian's life that is very monotonous and sometimes tedious. Especially since I got married to Shera.

“Company me lunch !”

Sebastian got up from his chair and walked out of the room. Dion simply nodded and followed his boss's footsteps.

In front of the room, Widya's desk was empty. The secretary asked for permission not to enter work for 2 days because he had to take care of the transfer papers of his two children.

Elsewhere, Kirana is helping Widya who starts packing her belongings. The plan is for Ms. Widya's husband to leave Sunday to prepare for the needs of his wife and two children.

“You are ready to work right, Ki ?” widya asked while putting her husband's collection books into the box.

“I am ready to work anything, Ma'am, during halal. But is Mbak sure that boss mbak accepts me as his secretary ?”

“As long as you want to learn, the difficult ones will be easy. But always remember mbak messages..”

“Do not argue too often even though I know that it is not true, because the boss' words are more true than wrong,” cut Kirana quickly with a ready standby position.

Widya laughed at the appearance of Kirana who suddenly stood upright like an elementary school child following the ceremony. His face turned serious.

“Well it's smart, only twice directly memorize the message Mbak.”

“Mbak,” Kirana approaching, help close the lid of the box to be sealed with tape. It's full already.

“Can you tell me a little bit about my future boss?”

“Why ? Want to be a target for future husbands ?” ledek Widya while laughing.

“That's not it, Ms. Wid. At least I should know what he likes or dislikes. How is it so that I can more easily understand.”

Widya took an empty box and began to re-enter the books that were still on the shelf.

“Pak Sebastian is a 28-year-old young entrepreneur. She is somewhat anti-interacting with odd, flirtatious and aggressive women.”

“That's not really me, Ma'am,” cut Kirana while shaking.

“One and a half years ago, Mr. Bas was married but on the same day also he canceled his wedding.”

“Loh so Pak Bas it duda dong, Mbak ?”

Widya stopped her activity, peeking at Kirana who looked enthusiastic with her question.

“You think you are more interested in his personal things Mr Sebastian ?”

Kirana was smiling bashfully like a girl caught off guard looking at her puja man.

“Kan nanya Mbak, nanya to make sure.”

“Dasae abege thirsty attention boy,” led Widya while laughing.

“Ihh Mbak Wid mah not fun,” grumbled Kirana with a conical mouth.

“On the status of the name of the widower or virgin, I also do not know anyway, Ki. But yes so the condition.”

Kirana just beards and waits for Widya's next story.

“Pak Bus is a good guy just a little hard. Only if the same single women, she is rather stiff, cold and fierce.”

“As long as you can work professionally, I believe that Mr. Bas can definitely accept you. As long as you don't love ya !” Widya turned to Kirana with a laugh.

“Don't forget to hold yourself back for not easy emotions if you see your boss again upset.”

“Unfortunately Mr Bas likes to be upset, Mbak ?”

“Since his marriage failed, Mr. Bastian has only focused on his work. But yes his name is human, moreover he has felt that he has had a lover for 3 years, it is definitely there when he needs attention from women even though he denies it.”

“What is his ex-wife is beautiful, Ma'am ?”

Widya halted her activities again and looked at Kirana with widened eyes. But then he chuckled.

“You got to the face of his ex-wife, why ? Any plans to approach Pak Bas?”

“Ih Mbak Wid do not nethink first dong,” protest Kirana with lips manyun.

“Udah must be a beautiful woman and highly educated because she comes from a family. If you want to register, like in the qualifying round you have failed deh,” ridiculed Widya while laughing.

“Duh Mbak, where there I thought to approach a famous Mr. Sebastian Pratama and the conglomerate. What does it mean to me, just be a cracker crumbs in the jar of the servants' room.”

Widya still laughed at Kirana's rant while her hand continued to work.

“You haven't seen the original, definitely directly klepek-klepek.”

Widya laughed while shaking her head. He himself prayed in his heart that his decision to make Kirana his successor was not wrong.

Initially Widya did not think to propose Kirana, a 21-year-old young girl who became her neighbor to replace her position. They know quite well because living in the same alley is only 3 different houses.

In addition, Ms. Lia, Kirana's mother is Widya's dress tailor. When Widya took the stitches that day, Bu Lia asked Widya for help in finding a job for Kirana.

Kirana who finally got a job according to her education, had to stop returning after working 3 months. Her boss' wife accuses her of trying to tease her husband who is Kirana's boss straight away.

Kirana had a chance to argue and make sure that she never teased her boss, instead her boss was indeed a nervous man who likes the same young leaves. Finally, without waiting to be dismissed, Kirana resigned.

Miss Lia believes in her only daughter. He understands very well the nature of Kirana who is brave but still adheres to her principles. Despite only living a simple life with her parents and a younger brother, Kirana has never accepted an illegitimate job. It never occurred in his heart to take a shortcut despite having to go in and out of the company looking for vacancies.

Widya believes in the upbringing of Bu Asih and Pak Anto, Kirana's parents. Widya herself sees Kirana as a kind girl who is jolly, friendly, sociable and light-handed. Despite only finishing secretary school without a degree, Kirana is a determined and easy-to-understand girl when learning new things. The girl was never desperate even if she had to wait for a job that was in accordance with her education.

Widya looked at Kirana who was still helping her at home while continuing to chatter. Kirana's attitude is what makes Widya convinced to propose Kirana his successor for a Sebastian Pratama. Moreover, Kirana managed to pass through all the tests that became standard procedures in the company, including the results of the health examination.

Hopefully Kirana is the right choice to replace Widya.
