I HATE YOU, BUT

I HATE YOU, BUT
#55

“Contest of your wife is in good health, Sir. I suggest to increase the intake of vitamins and often exercise lightly.”

Davian and Alena let out a sigh of relief to hear from the doctor about the condition of their prospective child. Alena stroked her stomach affectionately and then threw a smile at her husband. Davian returned that smile with a smile that was no less beautiful. They say good-bye to the doctor and then hurry home.

“I told you. Our son is not a fussy child. She grew up healthy, didn't she?”

“You've had too many thoughts lately. I'm just worried about you and our son,” Davian replied while pinching Alena's cheek. His wife just pursed her lips, making Davian chuckle slowly and then refocused on the road he was going through.

“You sure you don't want to go home?” davian continued as they were now on their way to the office of the Alena family-owned company.

“There is something Mom wants to say there. Maybe this has to do with the future of the company.”

“Why? Didn't I tell you I'd take over your company?” Alena exhaled slowly and then turned her head,

“You're not a superhuman, Davian. Stalling two big companies is not as easy as turning the palm of the hand. I don't want you to be too exhausted.”

“Then what will your mother do? Take over? It can't be Alena, I can't. And you, I will not allow you to take care of that big company as long as you are pregnant,” said Davian, unwilling to accept the rebuttal. Alena raised her eyebrows next to. Gosh, since when did her husband become this possessive? To appease Davian, Alena let out her sweet smile.

“Alright, thank you.”

His wife's crisp smile actually makes Davian wrong. He almost made the car he was driving hit the sidewalk if Alena did not immediately scream in panic.

Fifteen minutes later they arrive at the office of the Alena family-owned company. There they meet Mom and a man Alena knows is her late father's personal lawyer. What business got him here?

“What exactly is it, Mom?” alena asked after sitting on the sofa in front of her mother. Davian sat down beside him. He looked at his mother-in-law with a calm look.

“Mother is not sure, you should let the Lawyer explain everything,” explained Mother while glancing at the man who had been the center of curiosity Alena. The lawyer understood then cleared his throat so that all the focus of attention was on him. Right, the next second the atmosphere in the room was silent as all eyes looked at him seriously.

“Testament?” repeat Mother with a dumbfounded face while Alena looks at her husband worried. What did his late father write about in the will the lawyer held? Does it have anything to do with inheritance?

“I didn't know my husband made a will,” between Mothers before the Lawyer continued his explanation.

“He visited me one month right before he was hospitalized. It seems he had predicted what would happen in the future with regard to his life therefore he asked me to confirm the will he had made before visiting, he said,” he paused for a moment to pull out an official enveloped letter from his bag and then looked back at Mom, Alena, and Davian.

“Can I read it now?”

“Sure,” says Mom fast. He could not wait to know what the will contained.

The initial part of the letter the Lawyer read revolved around Dad's apologies to him and his mother as well as requests to be happy and look after each other even though he was gone. Alena can still understand him. Somehow he felt so moved as if his own father had said that to him. Davian swiftly clasped his hand knowing Alena began to show a sad look in order to give him strength.

But as the Lawyer begins to read the contents of the next letter, slowly tension rises in Mom and Alena's face until they turn hysterical.

“Are you not kidding, Mister?” said Mother dumbfounded. She stared intently at the man of her late husband's trust, demanding an honest answer.

“How can my husband hand over this company to Malvin?”

“Yes, no doubt. If you can tell, who is Malvin here? Mr. David refused to tell me when he handed me this will.”
