“Long time no see..” map. I stood up, grabbed her waist and peeked at her cheek.
“Not usually you come here. What's up?” I sat back down and let Jeane sit on the edge of the table. His hand picked up one of the maps stacked on the table.
“I miss you, can't I visit you here?” this was how Jeane expressed her frustration. He always said in a tone that was impressed indifferent but full of emphasis.
“I never forbid.” My sigh is rising.
“But we can meet somewhere else, right?” I walked over to the window, my head already filled with guilt towards her and towards Alena. I know why Jeane came here. No other because he wanted to question my marriage with Alena.
“Why? You're afraid my arrival will be a gossip in this office? Are you afraid your employees are accusing you of cheating?” insinuations. He walked up to me with an offended and annoyed look. I knew this was gonna happen. I just sighed.
“I know I was wrong, Jeane. But understand. If you're in a pinch like me you'll take the safe way too. I never approved of our relationship. He could've kicked me out of the house if he didn't follow his words” my debate hoping this girl understood. I love him, really. But can he understand my situation? Jeane crossed her arms with blazing eyes.
“You are nothing more than a cowardly man, Davian Fernandez.. What's so good about that woman named Alena Kezia? She's just an ordinary woman. While you are, you need an amazing woman who deserves to be by your side. And that girl was me, not Alena. Why did you do it? Why did you betray me and choose to flank the girl's hand on the altar?”
Hearing Jeane's words somehow offended me. There was something in his sentence that made me dislike, but I was confused as to which part. For sure now the corner of my heart rumbles because of the outpouring of his anger.
“So what do you want?” I tried to suppress my emotions by closing my eyes.
“Tell me that you love me, and you promise to leave it.” The words that were issued in that low voice made my irises widen, startled. I've been thinking about this idea all night. But I never thought that I would hear this myself from someone else's mouth.
I was suddenly worried. My mouth could not make a sound and my mind was stuck. Like a whisper of a demon, Father's words buzzed in my head room.
If you take any action that puts Father and Mother to shame, don't expect to have Fernandez's surname behind your name again!
Dad threatened me with that kind of phrase. My divorce with Alena would obviously tarnish Fernandez's surname. Divorce has never existed in my family's genealogical history and if I did, I would have to be ready to leave the family that raised me.
“Why are you worried, Mr Fernandez? Say something.” Jeane's voice again pulled me forcibly into the real world. I looked away at him. Jeane looked at me with a face full of hope. I can't bear to see it. Finally, after arguing with my own conscience I sighed.
“I do not promise to grant your request, Jeane. And I hope you didn't expect me too much, at least for now. You wait until the opportunity for us to come.” The voice that came out of my mouth sounded raucous.
Jeane's hand touched my shoulder. “I'm ready to wait, Mr. Fernandez.” eyes that always make me calm look straight at me. I could see all sorts of emotions from her iris moving restlessly. I did realize our faces were drawing closer to each other and when our lips met again, I accepted without brushing them off.
After all, Jeane is the girl I love.
