Alena POV's
My hands were shaking and my eyelids couldn't hold my tears anymore. I shouldn't have come to this place, my husband's office so I didn't have to watch the sight that struck my throat. It was like a knife trying to sever the veins all over the body. I felt like I was being mutilated by the terrible sight I was witnessing.
I slowly pushed the doorknob I was about to open but stopped because my eyes were already seeing things I shouldn't have seen. Should I go? Then how do I explain it to my mother-in-law? I can't lie to a mother. Even though he asked me to come here to deliver lunch, I basically wanted to see how everyday a Davian Fernandez was at work. And from what I witnessed today, questions arose in my mind.
Are they like this every day? Meet at the office and make out?
“Don't be crazy, Alena.” I quickly shook my head. I don't know why I laughed when I imagined it. This is the price I have to pay for throwing away the heart that loves me sincerely. I had to swallow a bitter pill that the man I lived with loved another woman.
I'd better just go in and pretend I don't know anything. Right, just like that. I won't give up just because of the girl my husband kissed. I'm his wife now. Legally my country is more entitled to Davian. Right, Davian Fernandez is my husband and I am his wife. I have to be strong.
After taking a deep breath and exhaling it, I gained courage out of nowhere. I grabbed the doorknob I had neglected, then reopened it.
When he realized the door was open, the two people inside turned to me simultaneously. There was no look of shock like I had expected before. I thought they would panic and distance themselves apparently not. This fact makes me even more hurt.
“What do you need to come here? You can't be sent by Mom to deliver lunch for me, can you?” the words I heard from Davian's mouth were so cold. I was surprised because he guessed right. The look in his eyes implied that my existence before him was not expected at all.
“I really want to deliver supplies, but not Mom who told me to. It's my own initiative.” I said nervously.
“Have you had lunch?”
“He'll have lunch with me.” This time the one who answered was the girl beside him. This is the third time I've seen him. First in front of Davian's house at the meeting first, second at the wedding, and third today.
Noticing my probing gaze, the girl extended her hand. “I'm Jeane Vania.”
“Alena. Alena Kezia Fernandez.” I slightly emphasized the word ‘Fernandez’ just to remind me that I am the wife of Davian. We shake hands and look at each other. Seeing the way he smiled, I was sure that Jeane had a high sense of confidence that he would win over me. The parasites are beautiful, and the smile is able to bewitch anyone who sees it. Maybe that's what attracted my husband to her.
“Em, how about we hurry lunch only.” between Davian. I automatically pulled my hand back. I smiled happily but it did not last long because I realized since then Davian's gaze continued to be on Jeane.
They even started to shut me down. I looked down at the box I had been hugging since. You can't lose Alena!
“I made Hawaian Locomoco for you.” I said a little louder as Davian walked past me. His steps stopped, then he looked at me.
“Hawaiian Locomoco?” repeat with widened eyes.
Bingo! I made you your favorite food. You won't find this menu at any restaurant in Jakarta. I'm smart enough to ask Mom about Davian's favorite food. Davian's taste is quite unique indeed. Some people certainly think this typical Hawaiian food is too simple because it is only made from ham, rice, eggs, and sauce.
“I made a special for you.” I handed him my box. I can't believe the next second I saw the smile Davian had dreamed of. A truly sincere, sweet smile. Her hand was outstretched to pick up my lunchbox but Jeane grabbed her hand.
“You have promised.” Say it with sharpened eyes. Davian showed his reflection. He looked at me and Jeane took turns. I was about to open my mouth again but stopped because my phone was ringing.
“Hallo..” Mother's voice immediately hit me when I just stuck the phone in the ear. My eyes widened, Mother said frantically on the other end about Dad's deteriorating condition.
“By-good. I'll be there now!!”
I don't care if Davian wants to eat with anyone right now. I just want to go see Dad who's back in the hospital. My heart was not calm and panic struck like a flash flood.
“Sorry, I have to go now. Father's condition deteriorates.” I was about to leave when my ears heard a surprising strand of words coming out of Davian's mouth.
“Want me to walk?”
My steps stopped, I turned my body towards him. I saw that Jeane was no less surprised than me. My gaze refocused on Davian who stepped closer.
“Let's go.” he walked past me first. I was glued for a few seconds. Didn't expect Davian to say that. I glanced at Jeane who was shocked and pecked at her place. I was a little pity to see the disappointed look on his face but how else, Davian decided it. I'm not forcing at all. I'm sorry, Jeane. But this time you have to give up.
“Alena, hurry!!” I blinked when Davian yelled at me. I immediately ran after him.
