Legend of the Heavenly Fruit

Legend of the Heavenly Fruit
Eps. 12 — Riva City

"Mother?"

Zhou Yuan did not expect that the person approaching Xiao Rou's residence was his mother, it seemed that her mother had come planning to meet her.

Zhou Yuan paid his respects as well as Xiao Rou, after a few days in the Zhou Family residence, the girl already knew Lin Ruyue including her status as Zhou Yuan's mother.

"Did Mom bother you, Yuan'er?" Lin Ruyue smiled as she greeted her son.

Zhou Yuan shook his head, he or Xiao Rou were both resting right now.

"How's Yuan'er doing, Rou'er? Has his swordplay increased?" Lin Ruyue then greeted the red-haired girl.

"Brother Zhou studied well, Auntie." Xiao Rou replied with a faint smile.

Xiao Rou had already asked Zhou Yuan to cover up the fact that he was teaching himself, therefore he was now pretending to be Zhou Yuan's teacher in front of Lin Ruyue.

Lin Ruyue nodded slowly then she expressed her intention and goal of taking her son to the city market.

"Rou'er, if you want to come, you can go with Yuan'er?"

"No Aunty, thank you, I have to practice my grandfather's sword techniques here..." Xiao Rou rejected him slowly, he still wanted to learn the sword after being instructed by Zhou Yuan earlier.

Lin Ruyue nodded, no problem, whereas earlier she wanted to buy something at the girl in the city market.

"Mother, is it true we're going to the city market?" Zhou Yuan asked to make sure.

After seven years of being reborn, Zhou Yuan never came out of his residence because Zhou Yuan himself was not interested in going out.

Lin Ruyue nodded before explaining her intentions. "I think you're old enough to see the outside world, Yuan'er, it wouldn't hurt to do it now, would you like to come with me?"

Zhou Yuan did not refuse, his mother's words were right, there was no harm in him seeing the city that the Zhou Family led.

Lin Ruyue then explained that in addition to taking Zhou Yuan for a walk, she also had a mission to see the state of the city market. In some cases this week the price of vegetables went up, Lin Ruyue wanted to investigate the reason it happened.

Lin Ruyue then took Zhou Yuan on the prepared horse carriage, there were six bodyguards waiting for him.

Zhou Yuan was amazed when he saw the carving of the carriage, besides looking luxurious, the horse he was riding on was also very mighty and gallant.

In just one look, people will realize that the train comes from the upper class.

"This is the first time you've been out of the house, Yuan'er, you might be surprised by the atmosphere of our city?" Lin Ruyue smiled gently as the two were already sitting inside the carriage.

"I can't wait to see it, Mother." Zhou Yuan replied with an awkward smile.

Zhou Yuan was not sure he would be surprised just from seeing a city, in his first life he had ventured to various directions including visiting cities.

Lin Ruyue then ordered her attendants to make a move, the horse carriage immediately spurred leaving the Zhou Family residence.

Zhou Yuan sat by the window looking out to see the atmosphere of the city his mother had said, just a few steps away from his residence, Zhou Yuan was already stunned.

Zhou Yuan coughed softly, he looked at his mother who had expected his reaction to be like that.

Zhou Yuan had already read his location point in this second life but after looking at the city before him he was not sure the book he was reading was true.

"You never read it in the library, Yuan'er..." Lin Ruyue chuckled. "This is also what I want to teach you now, about where we live now."

Zhou Yuan looked at his mother, it seemed like this was already planned, his mother obviously wanted to tell herself against something.

"Yuan'er, have you ever read a book about the Northern Plains Continent?"

Zhou Yuan already knew about it but he still shook his head. Zhou Yuan wanted to appreciate the feelings of his mother who wanted to teach him. "Not yet, Mother."

Lin Ruyue smiled warmly. "The Northern Land is the name of where we live today, the continent is vast, in the four regional empires..."

Lin Ruyue then explained at length to her son, Zhou Yuan who noticed that smiled faintly because he already knew all that was even more than his mother's knowledge.

In the Northern Continent there were four Empires that controlled each of its territories, the Moon Empire, the Sun Empire, the Star Empire, and the Earth Empire.

The place where he now lived was the Moon Empire. The smallest empire of its territory from the other three Empires.

Every territory of the Empire would be led by an Imperial Family, that status indicated that their family was higher in rank than the Noble Family.

If the Noble Family only led the city then the Imperial Family led one Empire as a whole. You could say the Imperial Family was the leader of all the Noble Families.

In the martial world the Noble Family or Imperial Family was indeed part of the government that led the territory and ordinary citizens. They are also the doers who create rules and laws.

"Mother, why does the system of government have to have rules, isn't it better for someone to be free of anything?" Zhou Yuan asked, pretending to be confused.

Zhou Yuan saw his mother was very happy to explain so there was no harm if now he pretended to be an ordinary little boy.

Lin Ruyue smiled gently. "Every human being is free to act whatever in the world, there are useful rules to limit freedom itself from something that is forbidden..."

"Mother, then what's the point of a punishment?"

"The punishment was designed for people who broke the rules. Yuan'er, just imagine if a region without rules, they would be chaotic, stealing each other, killing each other, its citizens are not prosperous, the rules and the government to prevent all that from happening."

Zhou Yuan grumbled his head for another reason, amazed at his mother's understanding of the vast world of government.

Zhou Yuan's attention was suddenly diverted towards the purple tabebuya tree standing on one of the outskirts of the road. The tree was very beautiful, lined up neatly in every building of the city.

'Riva City, this city is so beautiful..." Zhou Yuan recalled that earlier he was stunned by the city in front of him.

Riva City was a city led by the Zhou Family located to the east of the Moon Empire. Riva City is a medium-sized city, not too broad in size but including a dense city.

From the book he read, Zhou Yuan came to know the reason Riva City became the number one most beautiful city in the Moon Empire.

The city is very neat and has a symmetrical size of each building, not to mention there are many tabebuya trees along the way, making the city of Riva look more colorful.

Zhou Yuan had never heard of Riva City in his first life, he was sure that the prettiest city was formed after a hundred years of his death.

Zhou Yuan's carriage finally arrived at the densely populated crowd, seeing the carriage of the Zhou Family's Nobles coming the surrounding citizens looked happy and greeted him with smiles.
