Eps. 178 — Phoenix Bird
Xiong Bian clucked in annoyance, as he exchanged attacks with Xie Bui, he did not expect the ape man to escape.
Using his light energy technique, Xie Bui fired towards Xiong Bian.
Xiong Bian managed to resist that attack of light energy but he did not expect, Xie Bui took the opportunity to run away from him.
Xiong Bian cursed repeatedly inwardly, whereas he was quite confident of defeating Xie Bui with his abilities but it seemed like Xie Bui also realized the limits of his abilities.
"What is..."
After Xie Bui left, Xiong Bian looked at the surroundings and found the battle situation increasingly fierce with the academy's attendant side at a disadvantage.
The army of the beast race that has heirlooms in each of its members is more superior than the academy officers, plus the number of their troops is more so it is not surprising that his side in a desperate situation.
What surprised Xiong Bian was the arrival of the warrior from the Sun Empire, Xiong Bian needed some time to realize the situation that occurred especially when he saw Liu Zhangyang fighting against Guan Ning.
'The Emperor of the Sun has indeed betrayed...' Xiong Bian clenched his hands hard.
Xiong Bian then went to one of the Academy Elders who was fighting, he immediately helped him and finished off the opponents of the Elder.
"Chairman Xiong..." The elder was surprised that the one who helped him was their Academy Leader.
"Chairman Ling, ring the academy's emergency bell and tell the other elders to get them out of here immediately. I plan on using Douma right now."
The face of the elder instantly turned pale. "Chairman Xiong, taking the monster out of the seal is too dangerous, the academy will be destroyed if he breaks free."
Xiong Bian smiled faintly, "Do we have a choice now, look around you? The academy will be destroyed first by them."
Xiong Bian sighed. "I have a plan regarding this matter, the academy may disappear but it can be rebuilt, our priority now is the safety of the students."
There were many academy students who were in this battle, this sudden attack involved not only the elderly but those who were teenagers and knew nothing about the martial world.
The academy elder did not say any further and immediately carried out Xiong Bian's orders, on the same side Xiong Bian also went to his private building in the academy.
On his journey, Xiong Bian saw many battles going on and almost all of his officers were already getting tired of welcoming such endless enemy attacks.
His anger grew even more burning but Xiong Bian did not stop stepping, he accelerated his steps towards his room.
When he arrived, Xiong Bian immediately lifted the carpet in the room, a hidden door was seen behind it.
Xiong Bian opened the door before entering it, it went into a dark underground and only a candle lit. Xiong Bian went down the stairs and after walking for a few minutes he finally arrived at a secret room that had a large size.
In the middle of the room was a cage made of gold with a special symbol in the line. There seemed to be a creature in the cage that was large in size.
The creature lit up with flames that shone all over its feathers, wings, and tail. The creature is like a bird that has a large size, people call it a legend creature, the Phoenix Bird.
"Man, you seem to be in big trouble?" The Phoenix bird spoke and opened its eyes when it saw Xiong Bian stepping closer to its confinement.
A loud laughter rang out from the Phoenix Bird after Xiong Bian said so. "Man, you've locked me away for almost a thousand years, after everything you've done to me, do you think I'm gonna help you?"
Xiong Bian could not retaliate, his predecessors had indeed sealed the creature in front of him for hundreds of years even close to approaching a thousand years.
In his day, the Phoenix named Douma is a dangerous creature that has killed hundreds of thousands of people because of his actions that destroyed many cities. If only the predecessors had not cooperated in sealing the creature, perhaps the Northern Mainland Continent had already vanished today.
Douma was sealed inside a special cage that contained paper in the middle of his bars, the same reason why the Phoenix Bird could not escape and act again despite its immense strength.
The paper seal was made by someone Xiong Bian and his predecessor remembered for his great service, a high-ranking swordsman named Zhou Jiangnam.
"I know but I have no other choice, if you're willing, I'll set you free on some terms you have to meet."
Douma laughed again, "Are you sure, after all your efforts to seal me at the cost of a lot of blood and lives, now you're setting me free? Doesn't mean you don't respect your predecessors."
Xiong Bian smiled faintly, he certainly understood that but he also had his own plans. "I'll set you free but I want you to promise me two things when you're free..." Xiong Bian then made two promises to Douma.
Douma laughed after hearing the two promises. "Well, it's not hard to do that... I also have other goals when I'm free, I'll find someone I have to kill first..."
Xiong Bian did not say any more, he then started to close his eyes and drain a deep energy into his palm.
A symbol appeared on Xiong Bian's palm and glowed brightly. Xiong Bian placed his hand onto the paper attached to the cage before burning the seal.
It took a technique in order to eliminate the paper and Xiong Bian learned it from the academy's predecessor.
An aura of great power gushed out and seeped in all directions as the Phoenix Bird detached, now Douma had been freed from the seal that had locked him away for hundreds of years.
Xiong Bian had to take some distance because of the great aura, he smiled faintly when he felt Douma's strength was stronger than he expected.
"Well man, I am not like your people who always break promises, though evil I have the dignity to hold my words!" Douma laughed loudly before then darting upwards, smashing the ceiling to fly out and hovering in the air.
Douma immediately saw the battle that Xiong Bian had meant earlier, and he could see which side of the academy officers where the enemy troops he had to eliminate were.
"I have no business with you but your soul will restore my condition..."
Douma started flying to one of the eagle-man gatherings that were in the air. Initially the Feoniks' arrival had not been noticed by them but when Douma launched the action, all attention was immediately drawn towards him.
Douma released a burst of green fire from his beak and aimed at the eagle man.
The eagle man who was late realized the arrival of Douma could not avoid the attack of the green fire, especially the Phoenix Bird flew at high speed.
With a single burst, the green flames instantly scorched them into dust, within a short period of time, several eagle humans died in the air.
The green fire that the Phoenix Bird was spouting was not an ordinary fire but rather a fire that could burn one's body and soul.
