Eps. 237 — Book of Heavenly God

The arrival of Jian Chen was welcomed by the Mayor's government or rather, it was Lun Zhi who made him welcome.

The mayor immediately met Lun Zhi right at the gate of his residence, greeting him with great joy and respect.

Indeed, the identity of Lun Zhi was arguably special even in the view of the nobles, the same thing happened to the Mayor who was so respectful of Lun Zhi.

The Mayor's gaze then turned to the young man beside Lun Zhi, realizing that Lun Zhi introduced him to the Mayor.

"He's a swordsman I met a few hours ago, I hope the Mayor doesn't mind me being with him."

"Ah, of course not Swordsman Lun." The mayor nodded slowly, then he invited Lun Zhi and Jian Chen into his residence.

The mayor is a man in his 40s, has a distended stomach and is a little short. The residence is also fairly large and not even excessive called the palace.

While entering Jian Chen was greeted by the servants who were already neatly lined up in every room of the Mayor. Jian Chen and Lun Zhi were then taken into a room.

"Mayor, can we get straight to the point?"

Lun Zhi rubbed her face, from earlier there were many female servants around her making her become disturbed and unhappy while the Mayor even discussed the unnecessary with her.

"Ah, sorry I got too carried away..." The mayor smiled awkwardly, he realized his mistake was joking.

The Mayor's expression became solemn, he didn't seem to mind Jian Chen in the room thus explaining the outline of the city's matter.

The servants were asked to leave because this was important and secret, in his private room there were now only the Mayor, Lun Zhi and Jian Chen.

"Backer Lun, maybe you've realized there are many warriors in various directions starting to come here, right?"

Lun Zhi nodded while Jian Chen chose silence, he wanted to better understand the situation with a focus on hearing.

"As I wrote from the letter, they all came here wanting a book of the sky that was in my residence. This book is indeed for a swordsman and useless for me but handing it over to others is a different matter."

Lun Zhi's forehead was wrinkled, there was one question on her mind that made her astonished. "If it's a book for a swordsman, how can you have it?"

"The story is long and hard to believe. In short, the book was given to me by a mysterious warrior, I did not know him, but he said that it should be kept as well as possible and that the wicked should not take it."

The mayor explained that he was given his book about ten years ago.

"The book has been around for a long time and is only known now?" Lun Zhi stroked her chin.

The mayor nodded then he concluded the reason the book was given to him was because to anchor the eyes of many.

Politics and the martial world are two different things that cannot be combined.

It might be that the mysterious swordsman who gave the book wished that no one would find it. Who would think that a high-level book is in the area of government.

"So Mayor, what do you want by inviting me here?" Lun Zhi already understood the outline but he still did not get an answer as to why he should be invited here.

"Two days ago, someone came to my residence, defeated many guards without raising a hand. Fortunately he didn't come here to pick up the book but just tell me the news."

The news that the man brought was that he had prepared the troops that were heading here, the man informed him that he and his troops were going to attack the city.

Actually the Mayor was a little surprised when the person could easily take it if he wanted to but the person said that he also wanted to destroy Anshan City and its citizens.

Lun Zhi's face became serious, he did not expect the situation to be this dangerous.

Two days after the notice from the man, there was still no news that the man was really going to attack the city of Anshan but the Mayor was sure, the man's remarks were not just a bluff.

Other evidence with many criminal warriors who came into the city. Even though they have not committed a crime while here, it is only a matter of time that they will act as such.

The mayor has also made a letter asking for help from other sects or clans regarding this attack so that they help defend Anshan City.

The aid has now gathered at the border of the City, the Mayor did tell them to prepare for an attack that could happen anytime.

"Boyard Lun, the reason I invited you here is to give you this book, I hope you can take it away."

The mayor said if the book had not been on him or this city then the enemy attack might have been canceled. The mayor will announce this so that the assembled warriors can understand.

Jian Chen sighed, he realized the city situation was not simple that the Mayor said, if the book was the target then it had been since two days ago when that person came he had already taken it.

The mayor then took the book out of his spatial ring, a white-coated book that had engravings of the sun and moon in front and behind it.

In the middle of the cover of the book was written the name of the book which was named "The Book of Heavenly God."

Lun Zhi then opened the book, when he wanted to see the contents inside to be read but the opposite was obtained, the contents of each book were empty, not showing any letters.

Lun Zhi's forehead grew furrowed while her hands continued to flip pages per page, until no letters were listed.

Lun Zhi wanted to tell the Mayor something that this book was just an ordinary blank book but on the other hand he also felt that the book in his hand had a magic aura.

A commoner or non-swoman would realize the Celestial God Book was not a normal book.

"I understand how you feel Swordsman Lun but that's how it is, I've tried several times to reveal the secret of the book but everything goes nil, the book is like an empty book." The Mayor replied with an awkward smile.

One thing that made the Mayor convinced that the Celestial God Book had something in it because it always shone in every now and then.

The Celestial God Book will shine silvery when the moonlight shines on it at night.

"Expert Jian, did you find anything in this book?" Lun Zhi asked Jian Chen who looked strange after staring at his book.

"No Senior, I just feel that the book has a very beautiful cover..."

Jian Chen immediately averted his gaze, no one had realized a few seconds before, the one next to Jian Chen's eyes had changed color from gold to silver.
