Light Cultivation
Eps. 4 — Proof

Due to the long-tailed debate, Jian Wu was forced to prove to his wife that Jian Chen was already an expert in swordsmanship.

Jian Wu said he would show it during his training later, when Jian Chen had recovered. Jian Wu's tone seemed confident even though in his heart he was hesitant because he knew the true limits of Jian Chen's ability to use the sword.

About two days passed, Jian Chen was finally able to move his body freely, inhaling a deep breath calmly. Now the headache is completely gone.

In the afternoon, Jian Chen told his father to practice the sword in the courtyard of the house. As she had expected, her mother was already there to watch Jian Chen's development whether it was true as her husband had said or not.

“Ran’er, you will be surprised how your child develops.” Jian Wu threw a wooden stick at Jian Chen. He already had plans for Jian Chen to look talented.

“Oh, I can't wait to see it. But remember, if your words are a lie you promised Jian Chen that he could enter the world of cooking?”

Jian Wu smiled faintly, preferring not to answer his wife's words.

“Chen’er are you ready?” Jian Wu turned his head towards Jian Chen who from earlier was already preparing to swing his wooden sword.

Jian Chen was actually nostalgic about the sword, in his previous life Jian Chen was an expert swordsman of inner strength and bare hands. He had been taught his teacher to sword but at that time he was not interested.

Jian Chen was indeed not a swordsman but he could at least use a sword at some stage.

“We will train like a regular pattern, Father will attack you continuously, whereas you have to dodge or fend off during the attack Father has not stopped.” Jian Wu explained how to play his training.

Jian Chen nodded, bowing to begin his training.

Jian Chen was still well memorized by the way his father practiced back then, he had to survive Jian Wu's wooden sword slash so as not to hit his body.

Jian Wu started attacking Jian Chen with the sword basics technique, he slowed down the tempo of his sword so that Jian Chen could react easily.

Without any difficulty Jian Chen dodged the attack, he did not deflect but rather moved his body to the side letting the wooden sword slash hit the empty air. Even Jian Chen's feet did not have to shift to avoid it.

Jian Wu smiled in satisfaction, Jian Chen could dodge his attack so well. Interrupting the attack he glanced at his wife who turned out to be his usual face, Jian Wu's face deteriorated, it seemed like this training was too light that his wife did not react.

There was no other choice but for Jian Wu to raise the tempo of his sword speed. Fortunately even though his level was raised Jian Chen could still dodge it appropriately.

Jian Wu narrowed his eyes slightly, it felt like Jian Chen was indeed an easy training, but he was a little surprised that Jian Chen did not choose to fend off his sword.

‘Is my sword swing still slow?’

Jian Wu bit his lips, the reason he did not attack any more than this was for fear that Jian Chen could not hold on but on the other hand he was also worried that his wife would realize there was an incongruity in this training.

Upon further thought, Jian Wu finally increased his sword swing again. This time he even incorporated sword techniques in it.

Jian Wu's brows furrowed, as usual after this level Jian Chen had already received a punch on his body but now only his sword was being used, this made him astonished by Jian Chen's ability.

To break his curiosity, Jian Wu was a little serious and rained down on Jian Chen with some more difficult attacks.

Jian Ran's mouth was wide open finding it so easy his son could avoid, even though his sword was used to deflect but it was natural from a sword fight.

Judging more thoroughly, Jian Chen fended off Jian Wu's sword as if knowing his attack, as if he knew where Jian Wu was going to attack and Jian Chen was already waiting for the attack to come.

After several attacks, Jian Wu gave Jian Chen a pause to take a breath first.

Jian Wu's expression was not as good as it looked, his mind was raging at the thought of Jian Chen's drastically improved abilities. The problem was that the last time he practiced Jian Chen was not this great.

Jian Wu moved again doing slash after slash and this time was more serious but Jian Chen could still fend off or avoid it until he could finally survive without any sword hitting his body.

Sweat flooded Jian Chen's body with breaths that were already breathless, his strength was already drained to fend off his father's attacks.

Jian Chen smiled widely, he was delighted to have made it through. Jian Wu's sword speed was indeed fast but Jian Chen's eyes were still captured by his eyes.

At first Jian Chen had incredible reflexes in his previous life for having a lot of fighting experience, so he easily fended off or avoided his father's sword.

Moreover, Jian Chen had already memorized how his father's attack was, how was the intent, purpose, direction, of Jian Wu's sword swing. Jian Chen had already guessed the movements of his father long before Jian Wu started moving.

Jian Ran who had been sitting watching on the porch of the house could not hide his surprise, of course, to the surprise of Jian Chen was also talented in the field of swords.

“Chen’er, I didn't know you could segesit it deflecting from your father's sword technique unharmed. If it's Mom though there may have been some blows that hit the body.” Jian Ran held onto both of Jian Chen's shoulders, his face looking extremely pleased.

“I only learned from father, Mother.” Jian Chen smiled.

Jian Ran then turned to her husband, who was shown crossing his arms across his chest, showing off a triumphant smile.

“Now, do you believe our son's ability, Ran’er?” Jian Wu asked mockingly.

Jian Ran nodded, approaching her husband. “I believe my husband, sorry to have misjudged, you are great to have educated him this great.”

“Of course, a great father will give birth to a great son anyway.” Jian Wu's smile widened.

Jian Ran chuckled slightly but recalled something that made him turn sad instantly. “Only... Chen’er ability is still not enough to be a swordsman, he has not even opened the Gate of Cultivation in his body?”

Jian Wu scratched his head, just now he was happy for being so surprised his son could be this talented all of a sudden. But his wife's words were correct, even though it had been 12 years since Jian Chen had not been able to open the Gate of Cultivation on his body.
