Sleeping Beauty Wants The Throne

Sleeping Beauty Wants The Throne
38. Commemorative

"For the approximate attributes, the rest I leave to you, Cornelius."

The Crown Prince's subordinate nodded respectfully then tidied up the parchments that filled Evandre's desk one by one. After two hours, their work was finally done.

The sun is coming up soon. There were birds running cheerfully outside the window. After Cornelius came out of his room, Evandre sighed and ruffled his hair in frustration. A few hours ago the Odyssey cut ties with him, which is what makes him nervous and his mind increasingly chaotic.

A momentary lust destroys a thousand plans, which is what Evandre said. After returning from the brothel, he could not close his eyes until Cornelius came to carry out his daily duties in the early hours of the morning.

Maybe by working, I can take my mind off the Odyssey, he thought chaotically.

Dissolved in daydreams, Evandre suddenly flinched when the door opened violently from the outside. He quickly stood up and looked out, a man dressed as a general with various badges on his chest was standing at the door.

"Gosh, cousin. You surprised me." Evandre stroked his chest and let his paternal cousin in.

"I don't want to mince words, Evan." Alastair said in a cold tone, "What did you do yesterday in the brothel?"

"You ... What do you mean?!"

"Don't pretend not to know." Alastair snorted, "What would happen if I said this to His Majesty?"

"You won't dare!"

"I will do it this time," replied Alastair not kidding. "But first I need to thank you."

"Thank you for what?"

"Thanks to you, I have a chance to get the Crystal Lady," he said then chuckled, "Thank you for being willing to take off your real mask in front of him."

"Suck!" Evandre pulled Alastair's collar, his breath hunting with angry glaring eyes. "Never dare to approach my woman!"

"Your woman?" Alastair laughed as Evandre prepared to beat him.

"She's not your woman anymore when you break her!" Alastair clasped Evandre's fist that wanted to land on his cheek and easily twisted the man's arm until Evandre let out a pained scream.

"Let me reiterate it again. That attitude of yours .. is very unsuitable for Crystal Lady." Alastair said quietly, but very interesting for Evandre. "If you really love her, then stay away from her and let the Crystal Lady live quietly without your shadow."

"He only loves me, Grand Duke." Evandre laughed discordantly, "I won't let him be with another man besides myself!"

"Alright if that's what you want but in the future, I won't stay silent." Alastair releases Evandre. "I came here to warn you. From now on, you and I are just competing partners."

Evandre smirked, "I know you also have feelings for him, Grand Duke."

Alastair left without looking. But on the doorstep, he replied, "Love?" The cynical lady then buzzed amusedly, "Love is only for the weak."

Then he left the master of the room who was still sitting on the floor covered with fur carpet.

"Just like me, she wants the Crystal Lady to make her political power stronger" Evandre said. "But I have a love for Crystal Lady. That fucking Grand Duke won't be able to get past me."

Evandre watched the door leaf that was closed again, his heart growing stronger.

"If killing you could have made Crystal Lady with me, then whatever it is I would have done" Evandre said.

In royal politics, there is no such thing as looking at one's status. Be it a brother let alone just a cousin, murder can happen if the person is felt quite disturbing like a thorn in the flesh.

No member of the royal family is clean. Their lives will never calm down before their goal is dead.

And Evandre will not hesitate to do so.

"Cornelius!"

Before long a summoned figure appeared in the doorway. "Yes, your highness?"

"Prepare my carriage," he said coldly. "We're going west of Thompsville."

"Western Thompsville?" Cornelius had heard that in that place was the center of making potions. "You're not well enough to want to buy medicine from there, Your Highness?"

If the Grand Duke could not be pierced by iron, then poison was the only way for him to die.

And if he could not be killed directly, then Evandre would do so using the hand of a servant.

...----------------...

"Odyssey."

The woman standing in front of the window facing the artificial lake turned her head. Knowing who called out to him, he turned back to face forward while holding his head.

Uh, looks like he's drunk to the point of feeling this light.

"Don't I say from the beginning, don't go home at night?" ochonner's bursts of annoyance plus Luz's response that ignores him. "If it wasn't the Grand Duke who was guarding and delivering you last night, I don't know what would have happened to you out there!"

"Ssh, don't be angry. My head hurts even more when I hear your squeaks," Luz replied, still holding her head.

"This kid really." Ochonner is itching to hit Odyssey until the girl is deterred. "Why do you have a headache, by the way?"

"N-nothing." Luz released his hand which had kneaded his temple slowly.

Didn't Ochonner know what he was doing last night. But ... how could the Grand Duke keep it a secret?

Luz shrieked as Ochonner suddenly approached. "What are you doing?!"

"Bau alcohol. Odyss, were you drunk yesterday?!"

Luz grimaced, "Just a little."

"Who allowed you to get drunk?!"

"That's my wish."

"Drunk without my permission?!"

"Ochronner, I'm an adult. You mean I need permission for my actions, right?"

"In Brighton, I'm your wali."

"I don't need a guardian." Luz was actually lazy to argue but because of Ochonner who was fishing, his emotions immediately soared. "I've been a grown woman, no longer a child you've been guarding for a dozen years."

"Okay, whatever you want. If anything happens, don't call me again."

After saying that, Ochonner turned around and left without saying a word.

In the history of both lives, this was their first quarrel.

Luz did not feel guilty. The woman actually snorted and returned to her activities, which was to pay attention to the gardener who was busy tidying up the back garden. His hands are so painstaking, Luz honestly wants a job like that rather than having to struggle with daily tasks.

"Crystal Lady, there's a letter sent to you."

A waiter not so far from Luz approached. Carrying a box of red velvet suddenly made Luz's premonition worse.

"From who?"

"From palace. Straight from Her Majesty, My Lady."

The bad feeling is right. This letter ... is from the Queen. After opening and reading the contents, Luz concluded that the queen wanted to invite him to join the after tea event.

Why should it be now. Why did the new queen act as if she had approached herself after Luz's relationship with the Crown Prince had broken up?

Luz didn't want to be so bad, but this one's mother and son were quite suspicious.
