Sleeping Beauty Wants The Throne

Sleeping Beauty Wants The Throne
70. Rumors to Cover the Queen's Departure

The news that the emperor had sent his empress to the neighboring kingdom quickly became the fruit of warm lips in the capital. The women who usually crouch in the house, now want to move from their dressers, gather in a circle and chat with each other.

"So the empress wasn't in the palace?"

"I hear that. Since getting married, they both look very busy not even meeting greetings in these few days. Very different from the one before marriage!"

"Where did you hear that news?"

"My daughter is the palace kitchen maid."

Ochonner, who happened to come out of the flower shop, was furious with strange remarks involving her brother. He did not say much directly to the crowd. Seeing the Marquis candidates from approaching them, it was obvious that the women were instantly speechless.

"What empty mouth were you talking about just now?"

"It's nothing, My Lord. Today's weather is quite sunny, yes," said one of them trying to divert the topic.

"I'm just reminding. Don't spread fake news here." Ochonner then pointed to the face of the woman who indirectly said the relationship between the emperor and empress was not harmonious earlier. "And you can trust the words of your daughter who only works in the kitchen. If you want to know the truth, have him work as the emperor's right-hand man!"

The woman took a quick sip of her saliva then nodded, "Sorry if it offends you, My Lord. I don't know if the news is a lie."

Ochonner folded his hands together in front of his chest, then looked at all the women coldly. "If I see you vilifying the emperor and empress again the next day, don't blame the imperial soldiers for suddenly coming, dragging you and your family into prison. Understood?!"

"B-well, My Lord," they said in unison and ran in all directions.

Looking at Ochonner who seemed to sigh, made Wilbert McKinney as his right hand was approaching. "My Lord ...."

"I don't even know the truth myself, McKinney," he said. "Do you think we need to ascertain where the empress actually is?"

Wilbert nodded, "If you are already empress, you are still her brother. It's supposed to take care of each other, right?" said the man who was seven years older than Ochonner was wise.

"You're right." Ochonner had already made the decision to pay a visit to the palace. "We'll go straight to the palace then."

Wilbert nodded, then asked the coachman to take them to the palace where Alastair and Luz now live. Since their marriage, Ochonner never saw them again. He knew that the two people must be getting busier and Ochonner did not want to bother him.

The carriage moved towards the wide road which was greeted by two double gates approximately twelve meters high. As soon as he saw the Thompsville family crest, the soldiers on guard opened the entrance and let Ochonner go deeper.

Just as his carriage stopped in front of the lower steps of the palace grounds, Ochonner got out of the carriage and met Cornelius who happened to be walking outwards. The man was wide-eyed before throwing a smile back and approaching the Thompsville heiress.

"Good morning, Lord de Cera," he said kindly.

"Good morning." Ochonner glanced at the tightly shut entrance behind Cornelius' back. "Is His Majesty in place?"

Cornelius hesitated. "Yes, he's in his room."

Got such a strange reaction, it certainly made Ochonner frown. "Did anything happen without my knowledge?"

"I have no right to explain anything" replied Cornelius and cleared his throat. "His Majesty might be able to do it for you. Then I have to leave immediately. Excuse me, My Lord."

Ochonner glanced at Cornelius' footsteps walking away from him, impressed in a hurry. The white-blossomed man raised his shoulders, then entered the palace shortly after getting permission from the manager.

The absurd rumors coupled with Cornelius' strange demeanor this morning successfully made it gameless. Ochonner, whose incident is already known as the emperor's brother-in-law, immediately moved his feet towards the second floor room located in the middle of the palace building. One person he wanted to meet at this time and Ochonner hoped that person could explain all his worries; alastair.

"Is His Majesty inside?"

The soldiers standing in front of the entrance of Alastair's study were looking at each other. "He's inside, My Lord. Was discussing something with the Earl of Travis."

The Earl of Travis? Ochonner knew very well that Alastair was not very fond of cooperating with his cousin. So if they're discussing, it's definitely not something political.

"But, My Lord ...."

"I said, right now!"

They nodded and one of them immediately asked permission inside, announcing that Ochonner wanted to meet the two important people. And now, it was those soldiers who were feeling the cold heat. If heeded his orders, Ochonner could have gone berserk. Whereas if they follow the orders of the white man, do not rule out the possibility to make the emperor angry.

"His Majesty let you in, My Lord."

Hearing the reply of the soldier who asked for permission, suddenly made his other friends feel relieved.

Ochonner opened the door, entered and closed it again. In the purple-white room, Ochonner was able to see a large portrait of the painting, located right behind the oversized Alastair chair, showing the sweet smile of a couple who had just had a wedding. But now, it was not the time for Ochinner to enjoy the paintings that displayed such pseudo-pleasure, he had to ask an important matter directly to the person concerned.

"Your Majesty."

"Lord de Cera, what a coincidence that you're here." Alastair invited his guest to take part beside Sean who had been there since. "Sit down."

Ochonner obeyed his orders and sat right beside Sean who was looking at him elaborately. Just a glance, before Alastair re-opens his voice and withdraws their attention.

"Lord de Cera, I know you must have heard the news that I sent the empress to travel to the neighboring kingdom, right?"

Ochonner looked at Alastair, the man looked really serious. "Is the news true, Your Majesty?"

"No."

Ochonner sighed the breath he had been holding since. Thankfully....

"I was forced to make that excuse so that the people would not look for the empress for a while."

Deg.

"Don't say that ...."

"The Empress disappeared" Alastair said without trying to cover up reality. Ochonner deserves to know. "He disappeared right in front of me."

"Suck!" Ochonner, who had forgotten who Alastair was, now kicked down the table that separated them to the point that his hand was bleeding. "What have you done to my sister? Three days, Your Majesty, three days. I haven't left him to you in a long time, hoping you could protect him better than me and the Thompsville family but see what you've done? You're a big liar?!"

Sean who witnessed this immediately stood up, trying to calm Ochonner whose eyes had been reddened like a demon. While Alastair slipped his hands between the hair, feeling very frustrated and depressed more than anyone. Alastair also had no problem if Ochonner vented anger on him. Ochonner had the right to hit, injure, or possibly kill him. Right, this is all the fault of her acting as an imprudent husband.

"Listen to what happened first, Lord de Cera," Sean said.

Ochonner took a breath. Trying to temper his anger that was already on the verge of breaking. "I tried wisely to address Odyssey's husband. Now tell me everything without being missed."

"Before that, did you know anything, Lord de Cera?" Alastair looked up, looking at his brother-in-law was no less sharp. "That the Empress .. she is not your real sister."
