"Do you remember why you were unconscious, Odys?"
Luz wiggled her body left and right while singing her favorite song in her heart. It's a pity Luz can't listen to that song anymore. No music, no karaoke, no concerts. Maybe in the future Luz life will be monotonous and boring.
"Ody?"
"I don't know" he answered honestly. "Maybe if you'd like to tell me that—"
"You killed yourself because the Marquis of Galilee canceled your marriage and chose to marry another woman."
So this Odyssey died of rejection?
Luz's laughter exploded as if he had heard the most ridiculous joke of his life. Been denied? Pft, even though there are billions of men on this earth and certainly millions of people are much better than who was. Oh, Galilee, but why did Odyssey solve his problem by suicide?
So this is what Rose meant this morning. Odyssey is famous because she was rejected by the groom. Rejected when already engaged status is a disgrace for women in this era. Poor thing. Surely people knew her as 'The poor girl who was rejected by the only man who wanted to marry her.'
Luz's reaction just now was far from the shadow of the Marchioness. The Odyssey he knew had never laughed such disparagingly especially when faced with him. The Odyssey would shrink, even looking back at his eyes never. Now the Marchioness is convinced that the Odyssey has indeed lost its memory.
No doctor is needed to diagnose Odyssey. The Marchioness could have done it herself rather than wasting Thompsville's coffers of money.
"You're going to need more rest, I seem to be pushing my own way too much by telling you to come here when you're just getting up" Marchioness said as if feeling guilty. But indeed his nature is like that, different between the contents of the heart and the speech he uttered.
"I do need a break but we haven't talked about anything more important."
"Oh yeah, what is that?"
"The makeup I asked for. When did that stuff get to my room?"
"Regarding makeup, I have another initiative."
"Say."
"I'm interested in your offer at dinner last night. So look, I let you go anywhere and do anything in a month to prove yourself whether you deserve to be a member of the noble family de Cera or not. The consequences of this offer are huge, if you are proven to make a little mistake and embarrass the family name out there, then be prepared to leave the manor house. How's it?"
"What if I make it?"
"The position of Athene as the Crystal Lady, the coat of arms of the de Cera family will be replaced by you."
It was satisfied that Luz could see Athene weeping as her special title was taken. Why didn't he try?
"Agree," Luz replied steadily. He likes a challenge.
"Okay, so back to the original topic. Because in one month you are freed from the rules of the manor house, then the affairs of jewelry, makeup, even clothes will be handed round and round to yourself," replied Marchioness smiling sweetly.
Luz's jaw almost fell. Did the Marchioness deliberately make him like a beggar without any capital? He has no job or money in this new world and .. geez, the Marchioness obviously wants to make trouble with him.
"Why? Do you mind?"
"It's a little unfair but I don't matter at all" Luz said in the end.
"Your time starts tomorrow." The Marchioness seemed to write something on a parchment and handed it to Luz.
"Here are all the points of our agreement from permitting out of the Thompsville manor house for up to a month and also the proof of stamp de Cera at the end of it along with my name. I think it's over, you can go."
"May I ask you something?"
"I don't want to get kicked out so let me stay in the manor house once in a while if I get the chance" Luz said.
Marchioness thinks this second princess is definitely not the same person. The Marchioness's eyes trembled, casting doubt as she occasionally glanced at the parchment she had just handed over.
Is his action right this time?
She took a deep look at the same amethyst bead as her husband's bead. It was as if there was something different about the Odyssey. Something that encompassed all aspects but the change came from nowhere, the Marchioness also did not understand.
"If that's what you want, Thompsville's manor house doors are always open at any time."
"Good now let me finish the rest." Luz moved from the Marchioness' silver sofa and not forgetting that he was carrying the yellow parchment of their agreement.
"I'll excuse you. Thanks for the time."
Then as usual Luz immediately turned around and disappeared behind the door casually as if there was no burden whatsoever.
The Marchioness could now breathe a sigh of relief. He was certain one hundred percent that the weak girl would not be able to survive for long out there. At the very least she would be a banished loser woman or thankfully she was kidnapped or enslaved so there was no need for the other de Cera to see the girl in the manor house. The Marchioness did not care how the Odyssey had gone from de Cera or better yet out of Sormenia.
A bad prophecy about the Odyssey will occur by the time the girl reaches nineteen years of age. Before that day arrives, at least Odyssey has to get away from the Thompsville manor house as quickly as possible.
The Odyssey was a curse, and the Marchioness did not want the curse to infect the entire Thompsville manor house if she still lived on the same roof as the other de Cera.
...----------------...
"Eum, simple clothes seem better then ... Ah, looks like a pair of shoes is enough too."
"Miss, what are you doing?!"
Rose was shocked when she saw her young lady enter the room and suddenly pulled out a bundle of cloth and put a cotton shirt, trousers, and a pair of boots into it. Is he thinking about escaping? Oh, my God, after the suicide attempt, this time let alone the one that would have tried.
"Does this have anything to do with the Marchioness? Miss, please say something!" ask Rose again in frustration.
"Rose, instead of you asking unimportant questions you better help me get ready," Luz replied busily.
"But where are you going!"
"Whatever."
"How can you say such a thing so easily?" Rose did not think. "For so long you never get out of the manor unless there is an invitation that sometimes comes six months and even then is not certain. How can you think of surviving alone out there?!"
"You underestimated me?" luz's tone sounded annoyed.
"I say it like this for the good of the lady!"
Luz fell silent. It is true that since his arrival here only Rose really cares about him. This young woman is not hypocritical, she sometimes looks so innocent and pure serving Odyssey to be able to survive seven years even though there are rarely people who can work as servants of wasted children like her.
"You coming with me, Rose?" ask Luz at the end.
"Can I?"
"Who forbids it?"
"Okay, I'm coming!"
