Two days was enough time for Hans to learn how to fight a knight, even though he was a pure descendant but this was the first time he had jumped straight into the field.
Many expected him because he had enough power to defeat five vampires by himself, but Hans himself was not sure of it.
As a rookie he enters into Squad C, his job is to guard around the forest border and the village prevents the entry of vampires into human territory.
That night, accompanied by an investigator Hans and his team carrying out their duties, they stood guard at three posts where one post was occupied by two people.
"You nervous?" ask Reah one of Hans' friends in the squad.
"Little" admitted.
"In one night at most there will only be two to three vampires passing by, with the number of us who are many tasks is very easy"
"Thank God then" Hans said.
He looked at Reah closely, watching the girl who was younger than him but had already joined into a brave Knight. There was a sense of admiration and envy because he himself acted like a coward.
"What's wrong?" ask Reah who is conscious when he is noticed.
"Ah that's okay" Hans replied turning his face away quickly.
The night is getting late and the place is still peaceful without the presence of a single vampire, Hans becomes more relaxed because of it and starts to invite Reah to chat.
"How long have you been with this team?"
"Maybe it's about two years, but I've been in Team F for quite a while now and have been transferred here"
"Isn't Team F on guard in the City area? why'd you move it?"
"Regu C also used to be on guard around the city, but ever since reports of vampires attacking villages, squads C were moved here. I was actually chosen to lead those who had just entered, usually when fighting a new child vampire would create a furore because most of them would be serving around the border" he explained.
"Um.... If I may know why you joined as a knight?"
Reah looked up, looking at the black sky without moonlight or stars. His mind recalls the events of when he was a child, where a tragedy happened to his family.
"That night the sky was the same as tonight, nothing strange or suspicious. My mother enthusiastically told me about the Academy and the great people in it, she said one day I would study there and be proud of it" Reah began to tell me.
"After turning off the lights in my room he left so I could sleep, but a few moments later I heard mother's screams. I knew something had happened to him, I quickly ran out of the room and the first thing I saw was my father's blood-soaked body."
Hans gulped, not expecting Reah to have such bad memories.
"I was crying but still able to walk and look for my mother, on the other side of the room I found a mother with a creature behind her. It had sharp fangs that pierced the mother's neck, aware of my presence it released the already helpless mother. He walked and was ready to eat me but luckily a knight came in time to save my life, five days I was lying in bed with a recurring nightmare."
The story was finished, but the horror inside kept coming out and made the night even more lonely.
"One of the knights helped me to a full recovery, then I entered the Academy at a younger age. My one determination from starting to study witchcraft until now is to exterminate the monsters, I will never let another family experience what I have experienced" Reah promised.
Hans was really embarrassed by Reah, the girl was able to live with her own feet and even become a role model for others. While he was just given a test in the company had retreated without any confidence.
"Reah, will you teach me?" ask Hans.
Reah looked into Hans' earnest eyes, suddenly one of the witches gave a code for danger. They immediately looked at the side of the forest and found a vampire walking out of the darkness.
"Look well" said Reah.
He came down and confronted the vampire right in front, the seductive smell of blood from Reah's body making two fangs stick out of the vampire's mouth. The vampire moves quickly behind Reah to pounce on him, but Reah is no ordinary witch but a knight.
Trangs....
Reah's nails and sword clashed with each other, in the second later the vampire tried to attack on the other side but Reah was no less fast as well. They had a pretty fierce fight but for Reah this was nothing, he was still capable of fighting two vampires at once.
Not wanting to play for too long Reah ended the fight by stabbing right in the heart of the vampire, starting from the legs and then into the body of the vampire turned into ash until lost in the night wind.
Reah returned to his post without any abrasions, arrogantly raising his eyebrows to Hans who could only be stunned.
Being a knight is not an easy thing, but some people are able to do well so that they become heroes. Learning from Reah for the next Hans who dove against vampires, he was quite nervous when he saw the vampire's posture was larger than him.
Strength and speed became the main points in that fight, Hans should be able to compensate if not his life was in danger. For a few minutes he could only dodge while looking for a gap to attack, he did not expect the vampire was so violent and full of energy that he was able to continue attacking without fatigue.
Srek
Ah
Disbalanced Hans had to accept a scratch on his arm that not only tore his shirt but also his skin, in his first fight against vampires apparently he had a little difficulty.
Zzhhaaz....
There was no choice Hans made a shield to lock the vampire away, but.
Prangs.....
"What?"
The vampire easily broke the shield he made.
Groooaaarrr....
The creepy scream of the vampire made Hans stupefied, he was only able to see the body of the vampire leaping towards him.
Trangs...
Reah arrives just in time, he manages to save Hans with his sword.
"He's tougher than the previous vampire, you won't be able to fight him alone. Use your shield to lock him back! although he managed to escape but I will attack with the right time" said Reah.
"I understand" Hans replied.
Hans quickly ran over the vampire followed by Reah right behind, as the vampire was about to attack quickly and Hans made a shield. One attack on the vampire was used to break away, and before he could get ready Reah had already drawn his sword.
Aaaaaaaaaaarrrggghhh.....
The excruciating pain made the vampire run amok, even with the sword still stuck in his chest. Reah made a shield so that the vampire could not attack, coated by Hans shield now the vampire was unable to escape.
The few minutes that felt like a long time ago the vampire had become completely ashes, leaving behind the sword Reah he had taken after him.
"I have to report this to Shishio's teacher, this vampire is much more powerful and senseless" Reah said.
"I don't see their differences" Hans said.
"You're dealing with a real vampire you can't tell the difference, but as time goes on you'll understand"
"That's it"
"Said Shishio's vampire teacher who used to be just like us, they are resourceful and rarely attack humans. For me vampire version of teacher Shishio who can't understand, how could monsters like them not kill. But I'm sure Shishio's teacher was right because he was one of the witches who fought in the great war and survived"
"I also heard the same thing, Ryu's uncle and Shishio's teacher often talked about the vampire and were doing some research"
"Alright, return to their respective posts" Reah said.
Only the two vampires had come across the border, until the morning before all was safely under control so they could go home and rest.
After cleaning up Hans quickly went to his room and slept, it felt like his strength was drained out after last night's fight.
He woke up when it was noon, it was one of his friends who woke up so that Hans would not miss lunch. On the sidelines of lunch he chatted with others about the vampires they exterminated last night, some claimed to be afraid some were acting arrogant.
Whatever it is Hans can tell him because he knows what it's like to fight vampires, and it's not easy.
"Hans!" call Ryu after lunch.
"What's uncle?" tanyakanya.
"No, uncle just wanted to tell you that uncle would look at your parents and grandfather. You're used to living here, aren't you? is it okay if uncle stays?"
"Of course, I'm not a child so uncle doesn't have to worry. Please give my regards to my father, mother and grandfather"
"Well, oh yeah, I heard you killed one vampire last night!"
"Um. That's not entirely true, my friend Reah killed him and I just helped"
"No matter who kills, the most important thing is that you've done the job properly" Ryu said.
"Good uncle"
"Then uncle left first" he said goodbye.
Hans unleashed his uncle's departure right at the Academy gate, he kept staring until Ryu was lost in sight.
The following nights Hans is on duty again as usual, now he can fight one vampire alone without the help of Reah or his other friends.
He was also used to the fight so that he began to be able to distinguish the power of one vampire from another, after coming home from the vigil he could rest well enough and wake up for lunch without being woken up by anyone else.
* * *
It did not take long for Ryu to arrive at the Hermes hotel, Shigima who also just came to greet himself with great joy. Likewise with Amelia who asked a lot about Hans's condition, Amelia's worries as a mother can be dimmed with greetings that Hans left for her.
After talking long enough just to talk about Hans, it was time for Shigima to tell him what he knew about the new family.
Shigima took out the file she got from her informant, Ryu immediately picked it up while listening to Shigima's explanation. He is quite surprised to hear that Joyi married a man in order to build a hotel that could compete with Hermes, which makes him more surprised is the death of the Jeff family that feels suspicious.
"One more thing you need to know" Shigima told Jack and Ryu.
"I found Uncle Jhon in and out of Chaf's house freely, when I asked him what his relationship was he would not answer. So even when I accused him that he was the mastermind behind the terror of wild animals"
"Dad is not surprised if Jhon is still in contact with Joyi, previously they were also Allies. But it seems impossible for John to finish the lives of innocent people, especially he is no longer willing to deal with our families" said Jack.
"That's what he said, seeing his sincerity made me doubt that he was lying. Especially uncle Jhon including vampire sepuh who still uphold loyalty" said Shigima.
"That means Aunt Joy told other vampires to do it" Ryu said.
"That could have happened" Shigima replied.
They fell silent, thinking about the actions of Joyi who had crossed the line. They also have to find a way to make Joyi surrender to her revenge, of course, so that no more lives are lost because of it.
"I'm thinking more about that kid named Chad" Shigima said.
"Why?" ask Jack.
"Given how scheming Aunt Joy could have been the death of Jeff's son was the result of his actions, then he influenced his grandson Chad by lying that it was our actions. One of the former maids at Joy's aunt's house said Chad was cruel and cold, possibly because Joy's aunt continued to instill her grudge in the boy. I'm afraid Chad will take revenge for his parents' death on us, but we never know anything"
"Yes, it could have happened, then in anticipation find out about the child's parents' death. If we can find out if Jeff died of a heart attack, if it's proven that Joei manipulated those people's deaths we can use him as a weapon against him" Jack ordered.
"Good dad" said Shigima.
"It's a pity that young people of his age should enjoy life happily. But he was just a stick with a gaping wound inside his chest" Ryu said concernedly.
"From the former waitress I heard that even Chad had worked in the company while still in High School, he bore a heavy burden on his shoulders no wonder if his nature was grumpy" said Shigima.
"From High School? then he's still working now?" ask Jack.
"Of course, why?" shigima said, asking.
"Wouldn't there be a possibility of an incident that occurred during Hans' time as CEO there was Sanwa's interference to make a bad impression on Hans? wasn't it after all that Sanwa was more famous and bigger?"
"Do you mean Chad's father was also involved in bringing down Hermes?" ask Ryu.
"It could be that Aunt Joy could influence Chad to do all that. The chances are very small if Aunt Joy doesn't take advantage of the only heir in the Jeff family" Shigima said.
