High School Soldier

High School Soldier
Loss of momentum

Sorry, I haven't updated very long.

Here is the front cover of the printed novel. Why is there no Sci-Fi element like the story on the platform? Because I made the background when the TNI still rely on their old steel, when the SS2 series era in power.

So, the reader who gets his book will see a duet of Leopard, Tiger (still experimental weapons), Rhino, Tarantula, Cobra, etc,

same Scorpion.

In addition to the SS2 series, there will be an SS3 (still an experimental weapon) used in the story. His reason? Because the SS3 is the only rifle that can fire 7.62mm caliber projectiles made in Indonesia as far as I know.

If you are interested in the printed edition of Soldier High School, please have a private chat with me. About the price, I don't know for sure.

“Whoooo! Whooooo!”

The roars of the Rebel Raiders' cavalry sounded louder than ever.

“What?! Attack again?!” Ofra cusses the cry of war Arevelk forces that make him fed up. He couldn't possibly sleep well because of that.

From the initial assault, for three days and three nights, Ofra and his troops had occasionally carried out attacks with cavalry troops larger than infantry.

It seemed that the joint forces of Arevelk Kingdom and Yekirnovo knew there was a hidden tactic the rebels were hiding, so they chose not to rush into the formation like they did before.

The Horses of the Rebel Squads produced a dust storm as a result of the pounding of their feet. Upon seeing the enemy, the commander of the mounted archers ordered his subordinates to fire as many arrows, then retreat.

What Ofra saw was the same tactic. As his forces tried to chase after the Royal army and its allies, they retreated as quickly as possible.

“You cowards! You can only attack and run! Can't you guys fight directly?!” Ofra screaming.

To deal with the continuous attacks of the Royal forces, for three days the rebels fought by defending a defensive formation known as the ‘box formation in circle’ in a Japanese civil war-era battle tactic.

Thanks to the formation, the number of rebel casualties was reduced, but the morale of the soldiers had declined. Some rebel soldiers even choose to betray and return or commit suicide rather than get punished for their actions.

The rebels did not know when they would be attacked, they would not be able to let their guard down, it would not be able to counterattack, it was enough to exhaust their hearts.

It could be said, even if the rebels knew of the arrival of the Royal troops, they would easily be caught off guard despite trying to be vigilant. And obviously if they falter, Nio sees it as a good opportunity and launches an attack.

Moreover, the commanders of the armies of both kingdoms chose the night battle, so the rebels found it difficult to find enemy positions even though they had sent scouts. Whatever they did, the small Kingdom army moved very quickly.

It was true, as it was easily visible during the day, Nio put forward a proposal to fight at night, and the commanders of the Rebel Extinguishing Force agreed to it over various considerations that required a quick reaction. When the night battle, the rebels would definitely be exhausted afterwards. The formation of ‘boxes in circle’ that worked well against the Royal forces was not suitable for movement. The marching speed of the rebel forces seemed to slow down.

All of those were situations that Nio expected and wanted. As he was piggybacking Sigiz behind him, the troops he had led when fighting were now about 500 horsemen. However, the number of hundreds is able to play the number of tens of thousands of rebels.

“They backed. The queen... ahem! Sigiz, order the troops to retreat. We don't need to chase down the rebels even though I'm sure they're very exhausted.”

Sigiz smiled at Nio who was trying to be ordinary with him and replied, “What do you plan to do after this?”

Not that Sigiz thought Nio was a Guest General who did not understand the situation. Clearly the Rebel Extinguishing Force had benefited from the retreating enemy in exhaustion. The ‘aged’ girl just wanted to hear Nio's reason, and she would scold the man if the reason didn't make sense.

“They will move to the camp in a state of exhaustion, and I get information from the Reconnaissance Platoon if the enemy takes the slowest time until night to reach it. They might get exhausted on the way back, and arrive at the camp somewhat late. I propose to rest for a moment, then follow them, then return to attack.”

The reconnaissance platoon carried by the North Korean contingent is equipped with tactical vehicles and reconnaissance drones about the size of a swallow. They were the aid of the Peace Forces for Nio and the Royal forces and the contingent of the Yekirnovo Kingdom to quell the rebels. They assume the pest must be destroyed as soon as possible, then continue the fight against an increasingly threatening Alliance.

It cannot be denied if the ‘had to’ Rebel Squeeze Force receives assistance from the Peacekeeping Forces. If the commanders refused, they themselves would have a hard time.

The rebel army managed to rest until sunrise. There was no interference from the enemy forces, yet it still could not calm them down.

“Finally, the night lets us rest,” said Ofra, staring at the eastern sky with a sleepy face.

The rebels' initial plan to take control of Tohora was delayed, but they felt they should be grateful to be able to rest from the invasion of the enemy. Even if the rebels managed to reach Girinhi Fortress, and join forces with the Alliance to master it, they would still be unable to calm down. Rebel soldiers felt they were unable to stop the assault by horsemen who felt they were using new tactics that had never been used in a war before.

The inner birth torment that Ofra and her soldiers endured was very disturbing. Staring at his soldiers sleeping on the ground, or in a grass tent, Ofra returned to his tent.

None of the soldiers did night watch, so Ofra did not sleep because of excessive worry. The army also could not show its strength if sleep deprived, so Ofra let his soldiers sleep in various poses and places. Doing the battle perfectly was what the entire commander wanted.

Being too tired, he wanted to go to sleep immediately..

“Whoooo! Whoooo!”

Dor!! Dor!!

The sound of fusion excitedly shouted thousands of soldiers, the clattering of running horse steps, the clash of swords with shields, the, and the eruption of the two shots was a war trumpet that woke up all the rebel soldiers in the morning which could be sure to be the beginning of this sunny day.

Two blasts killed two rebel soldiers who had awakened to urinate, and hollowed out their heads protected by thin metal helmets. It was the result of a 7.62mm slash from a Nio rifle that was shot from 500 meters above a Sigiz-piloted horse.

For two days they fought a grueling battle day after night, and on the third day, the rebels faced enemy attacks at night. Ofra felt the battle would take place at night, but the enemy acted not as he had expected. Ofra was annoyed by his extremely far off estimates.

Encouraged by vexation, Ofra asked, “Where did they attack?”

“From east! This time they didn't just bring an army of horsemen! Estimates of the lowest number of enemy troops are around 40,000. We estimate it is the actual number of enemies!”

“Ha! Be-turn to the closed formation! Move quickly!” Ofra let out her anger in panic.

The ‘box formation in circle’ is a tactic he got from a subordinate of one of the Alliance's heroes. He received the Alliance's help as long as it led him to destroy Arevelk, and become the next king, then join the Alliance to destroy the home country of the green army and its allies.

The initial step that the Alliance would take to defeat the enemy in the Great War Period was to train the heroes, and search for the Hero of Hope. And that's what attracted many of Arevelk's military commanders, but did not have the guts due to Arevelk and Yekirnovo's alliance with Indonesia and his colleagues.

Ofra and his army are a group of men who have enough guts to break up Arevelk, gather strength, and, then join the Alliance to gain the honor of the Last War which was the closing of all the wars of the Great War Period.

The ‘box formation in circle’ is very effective against mandadak attacks coming from all directions, but weak against attacks coming from one direction. If they fight like this, the rebels will bear a lot of casualties.

The Arevelk Kingdom's warriors were extremely skilled, and the commanders were taken from the best of the best. However, not all units scattered throughout the country have combat capabilities that are equal to each other, it all depends on the commander who leads and the tactics he decides.

One of the best commanders of Arevelk who decided against his own country, Ofra, saw the poor condition of his troops. They expected to rest until noon, but eventually they were jolted by the attack that began with the sound of gunfire. The rebel forces were tired of not being able to get enough sleep, and this was the final blow to their already-collapsed spirit.

Rearranging the formation also takes a short time. And in the meantime, a great army of enemies produced a dust storm that soared high, then stormed in.

That way, the battle curtain of the combined Rebel Extinguisher Forces of an Indonesian soldier, Kingdom of Arevelk and Yekirnovo facing the rebel forces has been lifted.

The cries of war rang out endlessly from the Rebel and rebel Extinguishing Forces.

Both sides fought with bloodlust pervasive on the battlefield, as if atonement from the hearts of Arevelk soldiers wounded by insurgents, and rebels who disliked Arevelk's move to ally with Indonesia. The battlefield was filled with signs of death, so all the soldiers could feel it in their bones.

The combined forces of the Kingdom of Arevelk and Yekirnovo formed an arrow-shaped attack formation, with the center of the Arevelk army and both sides occupied by the horseman Yekirnovo. The tactic was a combination of Nio's advice and commanders who wanted the role of the entire contingent to be on par, with the leading forces being the best horsemen.

“Everything! Go forward!” Nio replaced Sigiz to shout all the commanders to serve in the position that has been set. Nio's shout was continued by the entire commander. Sigiz smiled while controlling his horse, and looked at Nio who was sitting behind him. With a loud shout of Nio, the entire army was pushed forward, their fear-tainted resolve instantly shattered.

Nio tilted his body while maintaining balance on the running horse to avoid the empty casings bouncing and hitting Sigiz's body. He fired several times, and the entire projectile pierced right through the chest and head of the rebel soldier.

Thanks to the irresistible attacks from Nio, Hevaz, and the Silent Assassins, the rebel soldiers prepare to escape. However, the troops at the front end of the dart formation penetrated the resistance's tight defenses, and many of the rebel soldiers were unable to overcome them. With the strength of the best horsemen from the contingents of Arevelk and Yekirnovo, they cut through the rebel formations directly.

The main thing that became one of the most important factors in the war was the number. With numbers, the troops can control victory and defeat. But, the powerful strategy that the commanders stacked together with Nio turned out to have a number of problems.

Sun Tzu said that there are a number of tactics for small forces to defeat large forces, “If the enemy is calm, disturb them. If you have enough food, starve the enemy. If you set up camp in a favorable location, force the enemy to attack you.”

It was the same as what Nio said, “Stands on the ground waiting for those who are scattered from far away. Waiting for a tired enemy by moving casually. Waiting for a hungry enemy with a full stomach. So you have mastered the power,” it is an important view held by the historical figure.

Hevaz's battering ram, aided by the Silent Assassins and a number of cavalry troops easily wiped out the rebel soldiers. Hevaz's great scythe was able to cleave and decapitate horses and soldiers with ease, and the claws, long spears, and light weapons of the Silent Killer and cavalry wiped out one by one the closely lined infantry soldiers.

Nio felt that this one-sided slaughter would be a victory, Hevaz instead thought otherwise.

Hevaz flew fast while splitting the heads of the enemy soldiers who were trying to approach the horses that Nio and Sigiz were riding on. He left the command of the battering ram to Edera, assisted by Huvu and Ebal.

“Master Nio! Enemy troops are starting to gain control over themselves!” Hevaz reported to Nio while hovering over the piles of corpses of enemy soldiers and their horses.

“Cih. Turns out they're more organized than I thought!” nio replied while changing the magazines on his assault rifle.

“It looks like we have to make a total attack, Mr. Nio. I don't want them to control this battle,” Sigiz continued with a somewhat anxious face.

Nio and the commanders planned for them to use the initial favorable momentum as the main force to clear the enemy forces, but it seemed that the plan they had put together would not go according to plan. The enemy had reunited and put together another formation faster than Nio had expected.

In an instant, the spirit of the Arevelk contingent troops faded. Nio had received command despite not learning too much about ancient battle tactics. He realized that the rebels still had the power to easily push them back.

“It looks like we can't finish this fight in the usual way,” feels a fierce fight around him, Nio also fights his enemies with his rifle.

On the other hand, Ofra gritted her teeth, and felt the same way as Nio.

Rebel forces attempted to suppress the number of casualties on their side, and launched a counterattack after regrouping, but no longer felt guaranteed victory. This victory was difficult even though they faced an army of 3,000 soldiers.

Possibly, the rebels were unable to fight back in full due to fatigue due to lack of sleep and declining morale. But more importantly…

“What are the Messengers and the half-beast humans?!” Ofra screaming.

Like the Alliance's first major assault on Indonesian forces, Nio felt there was no harm in trying out some of the tactics he learned from the books of famous historical figures with the rebels' first opponents.

The tactics used by the rebels were still the same as the Alliance before it evolved into a modern army, moving in tight formations, swords and spears working together to kill frontline troops. With the battering ram moving extremely agile, the Rebel Squeezer Army could still launch a one-sided attack.

If the Arevelk and Yekirnovo cavalry were unable to penetrate the long shield and spear fence of the rebels, Demihuman's unique fighting style and Hevaz's extraordinary strength were indeed suitable for use as a battering ram. They will easily avoid and pass through the obstacles made by the enemy, then fight to defeat the enemy. However, the number of enemy soldiers was too many, and the Demihumans were unable to deal with dozens of spears and swords at once.

Not only that, the troops could not rely solely on Hevaz to penetrate and destroy the enemy's sturdy ‘testudo’ formation. The turtle formation that protected a number of soldiers from all sides did seem impenetrable, and required extra effort to dismantle it. The formation was indeed unable to withstand the swift assault of the cavalry, but Nio and the commanders did not want to sacrifice the lives of the soldiers.

“Why are the dirty Demihumans and His Majesty Hevaz siding with the Guild?!” Ofra wonders.

Because the Alliance desperately needed a great power, so they would do anything to obtain it. Colonizing the tribes with various tactics, abducting and forcing the Demihumans and slaves into the army, exploiting the resources massively as weapons had been done by the Alliance.

Demihumans fighting ability need not be asked, they are like untouchable killers. In fact, the Demihumans living in the other continents of this world were said to be much more powerful than the Demihumans in the Andzrev Continent. In the past, the great nations of the continent, except Arevelk, colonized countless Demihuman tribes to serve as soldiers or slaves. In essence, Demihuman has been used as a tool and weapon ‘gratis’, which can be ordered to work like cattle and fight even if they do not want to.

“But, aren't they the Silent Killers the Alliance has?!” Ofra said with a panicked face, though his troops had resisted the invasion of the Demihumans that Hevaz had helped. “Did the Guild use their strength to make those Demihumans fight alongside them?!”

Although hard to believe, the efforts of the Silent Assassins and Hevaz to destroy the strong ranks typical of Arevelk used by the rebels in this battle produced clear results. In fact, Ofra did not realize that the number of enemy soldiers attacking his army was much less. He did not realize it, until Ofra assumed the Guild was sending a large army to fight his troops.

“Heh. I've heard of the Great Witch and His Highness Hevaz having raised the Hero of Hope. Therefore, perhaps this tactic was his creation. How interesting! If I win this battle, my Hero of Hope chief I make it a display!” Ofra could not help but laugh that burst out from within her.

Of course, because he had never seen anyone even a country capable of recruiting Demihuman troops to fight, except to force them by threatening or destroying their village. However, by this time the Demihumans had moved back with the Arevelk and Yekirnovo cavalry.

“They managed to make a retreat. What should we do?” Ofra smiled as he saw Hevaz ordering the Demihumans to retreat.

Of course, Demihuman's combat ability was a threat. It would be far deadlier if they were in a large army of over 50,000 soldiers. It was possible that if the Guild suffered defeat in this battle, they would dispatch an elite Arevelk army containing Demihumans and trained monsters.

“Can I get Demihumans to leave the Guild?!” Ofra asked a question whose answer was obvious.

Since this was the time of war that the lands of the Andzrev Continent and its surroundings were going through, the parties involved would definitely do everything possible to win the war. However, that did not mean that the rebels and the Alliance did not know the true strength of the Guild countries. In this world and the other, there are many wars that are only done for the sake of something or with an actual cause that is very trivial.

All wars must be fought, even if there is hope to avoid them. It is better to be prepared for war than to hope it will not come at all.

(olog note: wuihh, tumben nih author sage:v)

Of course, because of the honor promised by this war, Ofra thinks allied by the Alliance will be beneficial because they are rumored to have a hero who has ‘God of Dewa’ can create technology from the land of origin of the enemy.

Then, one of the Guild commanders had the ability to craft impressive tactics, and defeat a large number of troops with a small army. With impressive combat abilities, the Alliance wanted someone who possessed such skill, on the other hand they also wanted a Hero of Hope.

“Well, they've lost momentum,” Ofra smiled.

To be sure, experienced and highly qualified horsemen are terrifying. Ofra thought, combining the Alliance's rifle troops with horsemanship would result in great combat power. However, he had never seen how to fight using a rifle at all. After all, the horsemen archers needed years of training, even though they were both fighting from a distance.

In addition, Ofra plans to use hundreds of carts used to transport soldiers and supplies as weapons. He would command archers and infantrymen with long spears to be on the wagon, and launch counterattacks that were as devastating as steel carts belonging to enemy forces from another world.

“They wrongly chose this place as the location of the battle. It will be a battle that takes those fools down,” Ofra said.

An open wagon that was pulled by ten horses and filled with ten to fifteen soldiers would produce the speed and strength necessary to reduce the number of highly skilled enemy horsemen.

As an experienced commander, Ofra knew some of the terrain in Arevelk Kingdom that he thought would benefit him, so he could plan the best place to show the strength of his tactics.

Riding a wagon filled only by him as well as a number of weaponry, Ofra shouted fearlessly, “I will end this battle with my own hands!”

As the rebel wagon force advanced forward, the Lux-led unit let out a shout of war.

“Continue fighting! We're going to win this fight!” Lux shouted, as the horsemen troops he led broke through the front row steadily.

Lux once fought the rebels, and caused her soldiers to suffer. If there is a battle that will defeat the rebels, he will follow it.

That was why Lux knew that she had no reliable companion than an Indonesian soldier.

“Enemy attack coming from left side!” Lux got a report from a soldier. “They're coming!”

Sometimes, Lux has doubts about whether she has the qualifications to become a general. Right now, he was trying his best to overcome his own doubts.

He didn't play much in the making of tactics in the current fight, so he tried his best to carry out his role. However, Nio had warned that the heavy cavalry troops with long spears would move slowly, making them weak against side attacks.

However, Lux sees some enemy infantrymen riding on a wagon, stabbing his soldiers and quickly moving away.

Hundreds of open carts filled with a number of infantry soldiers with long spears and archers moved in all directions. The size of the horses and carts filled with soldiers, then carrying out quick attacks caused a wave of attacks that could not be anticipated.

Lux was daunted, and it seemed like her soldiers felt the same way when they saw the wagon units approaching and created a dust storm.

“Fight firmly! If we can hold them back, victory will be ours!” Lux shouted with all her might, but did not reach her soldiers.

The Lux-led forces had fallen into a state of panic and fear.

The sound of soldiers being killed by the troops who were on the wagon sounded heartbreaking.

The two armies had clashed, and were shouting at each other.

The wagon units were very easy to destroy the frontlines, and split the formation of the Rebel Squeezer Army's arrows in two

Ofra swung his greatsword, slashing at the bodies of the enemy forces that were trying to fight him.

The rebel soldiers issued a war cry that shook the battlefield, as if trying to restore their morale.

“What is that wagon team?! Is it possible that we can defeat them?!” Lux gritted her teeth.

He fears not being able to fulfill the trust Sigiz and Nio have received, rather than his own death. The fact that she was unable to protect her people made Lux deeply regretful and difficult to express in words. His beloved subordinates were turned into corpses, one after another.

Looking at the wailing Lux, yelling into the sky, Ofra directed the horses that pulled her horse at the girl. He was planning to kill the girl, who already looked to have no fighting spirit anymore.

Nio and Sigiz were not here, the battering ram and the unit led by Kosh Her had trouble handling hundreds of annoying carts. Dozens of enemies surrounded Lux, and caused her to stare at them with a face of despair. He tried to tighten the grip back on the hilt of his sword, but courage remained non-existent.
