High School Soldier

High School Soldier
Discipline and scapegoat sanctions

Before Hevaz entered the place that the noncommissioned and enlisted men often avoided, he sat on a bench in front of the assembled room of the officers. He looked relaxed, and his mouth moved like he was talking about something with an invisible figure. The people walking past Hevaz were confused by his behavior, as if he was communicating in secret with others through a spy device.

What Hevaz said was:

“As long as the servant descends into this world as the personal servant of the Hero of Hope, the servant thinks he's a young warrior who only knows how to take up arms and scream energetically when facing a fight. At this time I wondered, why would a warrior like Mr. Nio be the errand boy of those who were sitting in the room that I would enter later? However, the admiration that the Indonesian Army officers had towards Tuan Nio made the servant know Mr. Nio has not been on par with them.”

Hevaz knew that the TNI officers only wanted to see Nio's development as a teenage TRIP officer before recommending him to be the first officer of the TNI infantry after Nio's First Lieutenant assignment in the Peace Forces ended and returned to the initial unit. They are looking forward to the next victory achieved by Nio with his unit.

Some people commented that Nio was able to move up the ranks quickly within six years because he was the son of the man dubbed ‘Commander Terpayah’ in Indonesian military history. They feel unfair if Nio occupies the position of First Lieutenant ‘TRIP’ when some people have to fail to be filled with injuries. On the other hand, the process and conditions for a TRIP member to move up the ranks are easier than for TNI personnel (except for the option of a TRIP soldier killed in battle). So, maybe for that reason some parties want TRIP immediately merged into one with the TNI, or at worst dissolved.

Assessment, the condition if you want to register for TRIP, the condition of a TRIP member can rise in rank in addition to going through the death path that is so easy to make TRIP as the corps with the most personnel after the TNI AD. Many of the applicants are from among the dropouts due to war or other economic reasons. This is not accepted by a number of certain parties in Indonesia.

Although the members of TRIP aka the Soldiers of High School still get the opportunity to continue their education equivalent to High School and college even though their age exceeds 17 years and is less than 29 years. When the TRIP personnel are planned will not get the rank of more than first lieutenant, but some famous members get a promotion to middle officers, of course accompanied by several obstacles.

In addition, after the war period in the world of origin ended – and continued the war that raged in another world – corps TRIP dubbed ‘blind salary eaters’, ‘nest of slackers’, , and other names that should frustrate young fighters. There are about 300 TRIP personnel sent to this world as part of the Peace Forces.

However, there are some parties that ‘baik’ patted the backs of the TRIP members to show that they are meritorious in the war, entertaining young soldiers when under pressure, the, and ask the people to understand in the most gentle way possible. Although the efforts of the ‘baik’ parties are not very helpful, at least the TRIP members realize that their struggle is not in vain (for the majority of soldiers who fight in earnest without paying nominal importance).

The current Hevaz could not help but feel a special feeling when he learned some of those facts. He wanted to try his best to make Nio's name and the corps where he was in was known to many as a hero.

Not many people believe that Nio is the one who brought Indonesia to connect with one civilization in another world. For a number of certain parties, a member of the TRIP corps named Nio is one of ‘palas’ remains a high school dropout student who plays wars. However, the fact that Nio received the special award that the President gave seemed to be a scene that did not reconcile feelings for the parties who opposed the existence of the High School Warriors.

“Tuan Nio is no ordinary young man. Being able to hide all the advantages when many people want to show their ordinary abilities is impressive. Servant respects Mr. Nio, and I am the most earnest among those who admire and respect Mr. Nio.”

He continued communication with ‘someone’ through the telepathic abilities the Messengers had.

Hevaz returned to the Holy Land after getting a request from a Peace Forces officer not to speak. He only agreed after the officers said that they also wanted to talk about ‘destiny’ Nio in this world, precisely the war that somehow ended this.

If the Indonesian Army officer asked Hevaz to speak with his supervisor to send assistance to the Peacekeeping Forces and the Guild, he would be no different from a tool. Although the Great War Period was a matter of time, the Gods did not necessarily want to help the parties involved. Asking Hevaz to speak to his steward was akin to demanding the surrender of this world to another world.

Therefore, Hevaz must remain in his position. Although the people of other worlds do not understand about ‘Utusan’ or ‘Great War Period’, Hevaz does not care about it at all.

Hevaz could have explained who he was to the officers of the Peace Forces and the Guild. Of course, it is done so that ‘rakyat jelata’ cannot behave disrespectfully towards ‘right hand Dewata’. The officers would certainly use their position to urge Hevaz to provide more assistance to the troops.

**

Although Nio has a striking existence thanks to his achievements, he is actually easily forgotten thanks to the lack of visual evidence of his existence.

But, in front of a number of – Peace Forces officers who now remain Indonesian and Russian contingents, as well as representatives of the Kingdom of Yekirnovo, Hayvan, and Arevelk stands a girl who looks young and perfect. However, since the arrival of Sigiz at the National Meeting held by Indonesia one year ago, people began to think ‘ is not good to judge something just by looking at the appearance of it’. Every male and female officer, and everyone present were unwilling to guess the age of the people of the world they were assigned to, especially Hevaz.

The girl, Hevaz, wore her everyday clothes which were arguably quite minimal. Although a number of Indonesian and Russian contingent staff offered him proper clothing for meetings with the top brass, he refused outright. This resulted in the male officers could not help but turn their eyes away from Hevaz, and only realized once they still had family in their homes.

Similarly to what General Angga did, he slapped his own cheek to wake himself up from being fascinated by Hevaz. He has a wife, children, and grandchildren in his homeland. He thinks it's not good to pay too much attention to ‘people’.

The first to speak was one of the Hayvan Kingdom's contingent officers.

He raised his hand, and introduced himself before starting the conversation.

“First, I want to ask you about the power the Hero of Hope has. In other words, I am talking about Nio Candranala who according to rumors has been appointed as the Hero of Hope. What has he done during his time as a Hero of Hope?”

Nio and a number of Indonesian soldiers have been painted as heroes by the media during the war. However, it seems that there are still some parties who doubt it. In fact, images with writing are not always the same as reality.

“Tuan Nio, he's still an ordinary human being. All his abilities that had been deployed all along made many people expect a lot from him. As soon as I knew there were a lot of people relying on Mr. Nio, my senders were very happy.”

Hearing Hevaz's reply, the Hayvan Kingdom contingent officer still had a sense of doubt.

“My question aims to find out the services of Nio Candranala. However, as one of his subordinates, why don't you tell him everything here?”

“In other words, you want to know everything about Mr Nio?” answer Hevaz.

“That's what I want to know,” replied one of the Hayvan Kingdom contingent officers.

Havaz responded, “When I know everything about Mr Nio, surely the Indonesian officers here are trying not to say it, right?”

The unexpected answer from Hevaz made all the Indonesian contingent officers nod while whispering something.

The Indonesian contingent officers are the same as ‘paik’ parties who support the self-defense of a soldier, especially the confidentiality of his identity. Although Nio has climbed the title from ‘people predicted’ to ‘Hero Harapan’, but the title ‘hero’ owned by Nio is not the same as the Heroes who fought with the Alliance.

“Am I allowed to interrupt for a moment?” said one of the Indonesian contingent officers.

“Please,” permission granted by General Angga.

“How is the actual strength of the people called ‘Hero’, Miss Hevaz?”

The officer interjected and asked ‘boh’ questions in order to maintain the identity of one of the elite soldiers of the Indonesian contingent. He was ‘fool’ according to the officers Arevelk, Yekirnovo, and Hayvan for not knowing the power that the Heroes had.

“About that, maybe Indonesian and Russian officers will take it as a joke. But, as a parable, let's use the strongest god of your world, of course each person's view of the strongest god is different. Each Hero has one of the strongest god powers of your world. For example, the power of creation of something, healing, controlling objects, even animating and deadly living things.”

“However, we have not heard of the Heroes using such abilities as you mentioned, Miss Hevaz.”

“Because the Great War Period has not yet arrived. When that time comes, your calm face that shows this moment no longer exists. The true power of the Heroes who fought alongside the Alliance would be gained when the events that changed the history of both worlds in total arrived.”

Although the answer given by Hevaz sounds very ‘fantasi’, but the world like that is where the war now occurs.

In other words, the Heroes belonging to the Alliance could not compare to the military combination of the strongest countries, either in this world or another world. Hevaz attempted to explain indirectly that winning the war with the current strength of the Guild was impossible.

“Is there any further explanation?” ask Angga to Hevaz.

“Yes, if I say Heroes are too strong, they can be called as ‘strongest man’. But, we Envoys are ‘human demigod’. However, since the number of Envoys willing to descend into this world was less, it made the victory rate would be small. As far as I know, only I am the Messenger that descends into the world. Although Mr. Nio managed to ‘hampir’ kill one of the Heroes, he was just an ordinary human without the divine granting power. Frankly speaking, the current Guild army could be destroyed if the Great War Period were to occur right now. I'm sorry if I had to say this, the Great War Period would be far more devastating than the biggest war in the history of both worlds.”

A number of officers only grinned at the continued explanation from Hevaz, but a few more appeared to be wearing restless expressions while gulping.

Some people consider the questions to be asked. The doubt was not about the answer they would receive, but rather Hevaz was a ‘ demigod’ man. If this was a fantasy world, there must have been some kind of magic that made one party know the other party's secret. So that whatever question they would ask, Hevaz was certainly able to answer it.

However, there was one Indonesian contingent officer who confidently asked the question, “Nearly killed the Hero? Wasn't the Hero weaker before the Great War Period that you said just now arrived? What kind of training does Nio get to not be able to kill one ‘calon’ enemy's strongest weapon?”

When Hevaz heard the words of one of the Indonesian contingent officers, he put on an expression like he was staring at a fool.

Hevaz said his answer casually, accompanied by a mocking smile. He manages to make the Indonesian contingent officer who asks questions about Nio angry after being severely criticized by the young girl in front of him. Hevaz was beautiful, and it was hard to find perfection like him. Hevaz exudes an aura of perfection – shifts Queen Sigiz – whenever there is someone trying to bring her down or the person closest to her. All the advantages of Hevaz's ‘physical’ make all male officers in this room can not argue his words.

Earlier, Nio told Hevaz that he should respect the officers who looked older than him. However, with his mouth Hevaz proudly silenced the mouths of a number of officers who were now unable to speak out of shame.

As some of the officers in this place started talking bad things about Nio without proof, Hevaz was forced to renege on his promise with Nio. If there was a wrong party, then it came from a number of officers who were trying to make use of ‘usia’ and their rank to deny Hevaz's answer.

After all, Nio had injured one of the Alliance's Heroes, so there was nothing to do but praise Nio and his unit. They were also the ones who approved the offensive operation that dragged Nio into it.

Hevaz is also not a ‘biasi’ human, but a demigod human, who is said to be all Emissaries is an embodiment of the Gods who were ordered down from heaven to set the balance of this world with humans ‘chosen’. People in Indonesia consider the world's people as they are, but attract concern for some who know the truth, especially in the case of Hevaz and Sigiz.

In any case, Hevaz had managed to sew up the mouths of annoying people so he was ready to receive his next question.

After he saw a number of officers lowered their heads with annoyed faces, Angga asked Hevaz a question.

“I would like to ask someone who according to the report First Lieutenant Nio is the Envoy of the God of War and Goddess of Death. I'm sure you have innumerable experiences about this world, even my world. That said, you are the embodiment of the god who ruled you to descend into this world, right? Our world limits every effort that ‘favorable’ in war. The so-called ‘Law of International War’ restricts the favourable freedom to gain victory in war. Perhaps some prohibitions in the laws of war sound very reasonable not to do, for example not killing women and children who do not join the war, should not kill medical personnel, destroy places of worship, and not kill women and children who do not participate in the war, and others. What does all that mean in your opinion?”

In addition to trying to introduce if the Indonesian troops are civilized fighters, Angga wants to understand the point of view of the ‘God of War’ about the war itself.

Hevaz then answered Angga's question;

“Some things about war cannot be answered even by those who serve the God of War. However, the absence of an incorrect answer does not mean that there are questions that cannot be answered. If you want to know the laws of war from my point of view and about any prohibitions therein, whether it needs to be laws for a crazy war, or questions of the sort, I believe the creators of the laws of war in your world are trying to reduce human suffering during armed war. Indonesia sends armed forces to this world to fight the Alliance that is fighting Indonesia first, and Indonesian forces in this world try hard not to exceed the limits when fighting even though the weapons they have are very deadly. If we consider war to be a bloody agenda that takes place for the balance of the world, and fighting in the name of justice and nation despite other intentions, he said, so the laws of war must have been created to suppress the instinctive nature of man that caused unimaginable problems due to war. However, humans tend to easily break the rules they create, citing the safety of themselves or their nation and accuse innocent people as perpetrators so that they wage war with the innocent. The desire to fight for the sake of nations and allies is a good thing, but if brought to a more extreme level, dangerous.”

In a separate place.

According to Nio, military forces are violent tools and state guard dogs that can be ruled at will by their owners. No matter the time and place, the function and nature of military forces never change. Maybe if Nio said one of his ideas, there would be an angry party and said, “What do you mean violence tools and guard dogs?” without knowing the party understands about the military or not.

Regardless of the definition, military forces and their soldiers must be controlled. Thus, regardless of how trustworthy the military forces and their organizations may be, they should still be tied up.

Since its inception, Indonesia is proud of their army so many people who ‘comfort themselves’ by believing that TNI is the best in the world. Because of this, many people seek to realign a group of deviant parties that inspire such foolish arrogance.

TNI, as one of its functions wants its soldiers to be exemplary citizens, both enlisted and high-ranking officers.

As a result, the military has a crazy love of rules and discipline, so subordinate soldiers who perform duties imperfectly get the call of superior officers.

As one of the classes in the social life of society, officers will be embarrassed if they get a military subpoena. But that happens during times of peace. Unfortunately, the era of peace that prioritized honor was over.

Nowow. The TNI is at war. The meaning of the military subpoena also changed, “Are you running the task correctly or not?”

Currently, it is difficult to ignore the actions of a unit led by a teenage TRIP first officer who fought without permission, inflicting casualties on the enemy side that may prolong the conflict. However, the reason used by the officer was that he was merely the leader of a unit that was carrying out tasks in offensive operations in order to satisfy the ambitions of the people in the peaceful Headquarters.

“Letnan One ‘TRIP’ Nio Candranala, with this we reject the accusation you have violated the order,” said the female officer above the TNI rank Major General who dressed neatly in the field, but Nio who was standing in front of him was wearing a shabby field uniform.

Nio's charge of violating the rules of operation was rejected. That is, they made a subpoena by saying that the case did not meet the criteria that led to Nio getting sanctioned.

The judge could do nothing but read the inscription on the paper in his hand with an expression like a high-ranking officer earning honor status from another country or an elite TNI unit.

“The battle without permission when Team 12 carried out the main task of patrol and reconnaissance did take a lot of casualties on the side of the Alliance. We can't do anything for them and the 12th Team.”

By adding extra spice at the end of the sentence, the judge read out his decision to keep Nio as the commander of the special mission squad of the 12th Team and manage the special unit of the Silent Killer. It was clear to the audience seated in the courtroom that they did not wish to detain one of the influential field officers in the Peacekeeping Forces.

For Nio, this was the result he expected. He knew that someone loyal to the TNI rules did not get disciplined unless he did something that endangered his unit and the troops. At the very least, Nio had imagined and prepared himself that there would be a number of fists floating into his face.

Meanwhile, Nio felt that he had received murderous gazes from a number of attendees who considered Nio's actions to potentially prolong the war. Of course he understood what they were thinking. They desperately wanted the figure of a scapegoat to hasten the end of the service period in this world.

“In addition, after considering the main mission given to First Lieutenant Nio Candranala and his unit during the offensive operation, we admit that when they carry out patrol duties and meet the enemy with sudden, untimely, there is no way back but to fight. They acted according to orders. Anyway, we rejected this case.”

For Nio, the latter conclusion was a favorable addition to him.

Nio happy. Unknowingly, he showed a triumphant expression that accompanied a faint smile. That way, he was proven innocent.

Faced with Nio's smile, some of the attendees were worried and wondered if the decision was correct and should be made. And the influential field officers that the frontlines so desperately wanted would be in spite of the threat of disciplinary sanctions, as expected of a number of attendees defending Nio.

The war will gradually develop as a major bloody armed conflict, with the beginning of the battle in the Gulf of the Horn. The Kingdom of Salodki which is now getting a name from the Guild in the form of ‘West Line’ requires experienced field commanders. Having officers who could be assigned would not have kept him detained for fear of being attacked by the Alliance.

The troops are capable of arming regular Peace Forces infantry with light tanks and multipurpose helicopters, but not for small squads like Team 12?

If Nio and his band were used to fighting like that, then there was nothing to worry about. But, that way the army needs more troops like that. The East Line and the West Line had no special mission units as reliable as the 12th Team and the Silent Killer, and the troops could not allow other special mission squads to laze around. But, the Peace Forces and the Guild did not have sufficient elite force. If they had sufficient resources, the war would have ended long ago.

“We need it in the West Line.”

“You how else?”

For such a reason, the matter Nio received ended easily, making him relieved.

After all, what the Kke-12 Team and the Silent Killer did was to defend themselves from potential enemies attacking them and amphibious infantry units on the shores of Horn Bay. Although the actions were considered by the enemy as a threat and were used to start a war on the Western Line, there was still nothing wrong in the way of defending the 12th Team and the Silent Killer led by Nio.

Patrol missions in wartime require the equivalent of courage to face battle. So, what's wrong in trying to defend yourself and your comrades in arms? If there was no basis for sacrifice, what would happen?

If Nio is forced to accept disciplinary sanctions under the current circumstances, it will turn into a scandal involving everyone in the Peace Forces, the Guild, the TNI, and it was the Ministry of Defense that designed the offensive operation that began in the Kingdom of Salodki. All of Nio's achievements made it difficult for the judge to determine their verdict.

Nio thought he would not get a disciplinary sanction for receiving the special award the President gave directly, and all the incredible sacrifices during his time in this world. And Nio's analysis turned out to be correct.

The General and Special Strategy Planning Staff, the Special Mission Squad, a number of contingents of the Kingdom of Arevelk and Yekirnovo, and even a number of refugees expressed defense for Nio. They have put the judge under pressure. The people in charge of each other's lives are deeply worried that the reputation of the juvenile officer will potentially be ruined due to the battle of ‘accidental’. Perhaps the pressure they exerted was so strong that the verdict for Nio was given in no time.

Nio thought himself very important, so many parties were united to defend him. However, Nio hopes freely for the man to help the Staff and refugees, so Nio realizes that all they need is energy and mind, not himself.

For those who know, the battle against the forces of ‘primitif’ aka Alliance is not an easy fight. Although it was clear what would happen if the Peace and Alliance Forces defeated the Alliance. The alliance has likely garnered a lot of help from the countries that stand in this world, so facing one giant organization should be a nightmare. Thus, if those who did not go to war directly were only able to blame others, then it would be no different from wanting to end the war without effort.

The troops again sent Nio to his unit and expected satisfactory results. He is expected to cause no more trouble. However, that hope made Nio assume that he had to die on the front lines, then there was no more troublemaker like himself to deal with.

After all, this trial was an attempt to force Nio to talk about the attempt to deal with the Alliance's dangerous moves as a result of his negligence.

Nio ‘Living Life’ can only sneer.
