High School Soldier
The first attack 1

In the office of the commander of the Indonesian contingent, General Angga.

Nio was summoned to the commander's room of the Peace Forces after he politely raised the chair with the intention of throwing it at the head of one of the officers. Leaving the meeting without orders was wrong, but Nio thought there was no way to deal with the stubborn officers. After all, the general's call was far more important and urgent. As Nio had expected, Angga did not seem disappointed at his actions.

“I want to hear what you think.”

That was indeed Angga had to say, considering that Nio was one of the members of the General and Special Sstrategy Planning Staff that he called into his room.

“Get rid of formalities, and say everything you want to get out, Nio.”

Nio then said, “Pak, frankly, given our current situation and the President's request, launching an offensive attack is unnecessary, and even very reckless! Why don't you reply to a Presidential warrant like that?”

“Letnan ‘Student Soldier’ Nio, I want you to tell me what you really think,” reply Angga.

Nio is aware Angga said his doubts indirectly about Nio's words on the warrant of President Suroso.

Angga quite likes the calmness of Nio and the way of expressing his opinion with all the ethics of a free and polite teenager who is lacking, although the annoyance is very visible in the eyes of the 20-year-old young man. He was dizzy with the request of the TNI Headquarters and the government, so he did not want to hear complicated thoughts.

“Sorry Sir, considering that you understand much more about the current situation, I will not repeat my words again.”

“I understand. I'll try to understand you. Speak freely!”

“Ready! Thanks, Sir!”

Angga tried to order Nio to speak, but he received a response from the teenage officer politely and decisively.

“The rejection and answer during the meeting did make the officers upset. That makes it even more interesting,” Angga said in his heart.

Although he did not say what was on his mind, Angga conveyed his thoughts with one indirect comment:

“So, this is why the guardians of North Korea and Russia often talk about you, and are admired by our young soldiers here, Lieutenant Nio. Marvelous. So now let's start the conversation.”

“The commander even talks about it often. I get it too. I'm sure the job will go smoothly because I have a young officer who has various strategies in his brain and a steady squad commander,” Angga says it in his heart again.

“What do you think of this attack plan if you consider it a reckless act, Lieutenant?” Angga asked Nio.

Nio replied, “The President's request to attack will be the first attack of the Peace Forces and Guilds since the beginning of its formation. I think the plan would be the right attack. But, is it possible that this attack will be as bait, with the possibility that there will be another major attack?”

The emblem of the two beams in his collar is worth having. Nio is quick in thinking, and more importantly he has the ability to guess what I want to say, and say it with what he already knows. He was one of the rare officers who had the composure, stability, and courage of a commanding officer, so thought Angga.

“I haven't even thought that far, but you can look far ahead like that. So, can you evaluate the impact that the attack had on various fields?”

Nio answered Angga's question, “A offensive attack is just a waste of bullets. But, at the very least the Alliance member countries will have a hard time keeping up with our fast battle flow, and they are easily diverted if we go on offensive attacks. Unfortunately, that advantage does not give us a great benefit. So, are we going to start operations through the Yekirnovo and Arevelk lines? No, the logistical ability allows us to doubt the offensive plan of attack, even reject the request of the President.”

The way Nio explained was as if he had been immersed in his thoughts, and forgot about his anger at the meeting just a moment ago. It showed the subordinate qualities that high-ranking officers like Angga wanted. Not many officers could think of answers to important questions under the watchful eye of supreme existence. And that is why, individuals who have extraordinary potential are always welcome in the TNI.

“If the logistics business goes smoothly, we might even be able to withstand enemy reinforcements,” said Angga.

“Ijin speak, Sir. I don't feel if tackling logistical problems can withstand even destroying enemy relief forces. Even smooth logistics might not be very helpful in other areas. I don't think the Alliance forces involved in the battle will send in any help, unless they want to sacrifice the lives of the soldiers in vain. That means, the main offensive attack should be a hoax, and we should plan another small offensive attack with the aim of some strategic point in the Alliance member countries,” Nio replied.

When Angga requested that Nio ask for the best tactics for the offensive attack, Nio calmly said the idea that the main offensive attack should be a ‘fake’ battle, with the smaller ‘asli’ war. In Angga's heart said, “Quite impressive, and I can hardly understand.”

“Continue,” pinta Angga to Nio.

“To be frank, have you ever thought of occupying the weakest point of enemy territory, or mastering the enemy's back line? My squad serves to conduct guerrilla and open raids .. so we need some sort of diversion and then we'll attack .. hmm, rear? Back, yes?”

Nio seemed to put on a face remembering something, but it was so difficult to say it, that it made Angga curious.

“What's up, Lieutenant Nio?”

Nio let Angga's question out of his hearing just like that, and collected the pieces of memories of past war history books.

Keep most of the enemy troops on the front lines, then confront them on a feint battle. Meanwhile, the main army of comrades raided the vulnerable enemy's rear lines. I felt like I had read something like that in a history book that I liked.” Nio muttered inwardly, still maintaining an expression like a thinking genius.

Suddenly a term appeared in his mind.

“Incheon... There you go, Battle of Incheon!”

It was one of the battles of the Korean War. An incident occurred in North Korean forces. An American commander creates miracles, Douglas MacArthur. The UN forces cut off logistical supply lines and stormed the enemy from behind. It was a decisive attack that caused the North Korean forces to lose.

That was the beginning of a new history created, in which the cunning capitalists defeated the evil communists.

“I think our first offensive offensive will be effective if the main enemy forces are concentrated in the front line, so the ground force operation starting from the enemy's rear line will be one of the best ways?”

Nio kept in mind the whereabouts of his commander, but the above question which suddenly and with a calm tone began to show if Nio was also interested in President Suroso's request to make the first raid against the Alliance.

Thinking about the Battle of Incheon, Nio realized that the tactics used in the fight were admirable, and he thought it could be used against enemies other than communists. If the North Korean officers heard it, they could have put on an annoyed face and defied Nio's proposal, of course it's their country's shameful history.

There is nothing wrong with this operation, because the only one who will do it is TNI. Of course Nio remains hopeful that the Russian and North Korean contingents help, despite the dark history of the past.

“If you remember, the tactics used in the Battle of Incheon were large-scale amphibious operations followed by sieges on the enemy's back lines to cut off their logistic supply lines. So, our first offensive battle will be a diversion for the landing operation.”

All Nio did was re-use history, he realized that. As long as the history book remained thick as ever, Nio would utilize every concept in it.

It was certain that Angga had agreed to Nio's proposal. But he was surprised when Nio turned out to support President Suroso's request that the Indonesian contingent carry out the first attack since the first soldier set foot in this world. The general put on a surprised face, as if Nio's words were the beginning to start the operation.

After all, according to Angga, involving the Marine and Air Units and the Navy TNI in this world is a secret plan that only elected officers know about. But now, a field commander and a member of the General and Special Strategy Planning Staff are suggesting the involvement of Indonesian warships in this world as if he were the commander of the Indonesian contingent forces. Angga wondered why Nio knew he was planning to involve the AL TNI in the President's request to conduct an offensive battle.

Angga asked cautiously, “Did you hear of any plans to engage TNI Navy warships in this battle?”

“I don't understand what you're saying, General Angga.”

The answer Nio gave was unacceptable to Angga. But, Angga still can not read all the emotions and thoughts of his subordinates. But based on his experience, he judged Nio's answer to be truly sincere.

“Did you yourself think of that plan?” ask Angga.

“Ya Sir. Considering the President's curiosity so that the Alliance can't do anything as they please anymore, I think doing tactics in the Battle of Incheon is a good choice.”

“Although you only found it from historical records, I must say it was a very interesting idea.”

Angga responded easily. At the same time, Angga was astonished at Nio, but he could understand how Nio could convince the important parties so that Arevelk, Yekirnovo, and Indonesia could ally.

“Good. If you support this battle, the troops will use Team 12. Lieutenant Nio, there's a delivery order for you. The 12th Team will be sent with amphibious units.”

“Ready, Sir!”

Nio calmly accepted his orders, the young man looked like a submissive teenager who was happy to be sent to do trivial tasks. And Angga felt himself so easily commanding someone under him. On the other hand, the problem was that Angga had never gone further than the fortress to fight.

“Your team will be sent to our naval military base in Yekirnovo Kingdom. Your unit will be the vanguard for amphibious forces and aid fighters. I expect great things from you, Lieutenant Nio.”

Having an experienced person at the forefront makes Angga expect a lot on the cutting edge.

“Ijin speak, General.”

“What's up, Lieutenant Nio?”

“If from the beginning of this battle you support, then you will not advise us under the command of one of the companies, right?”

Nio's words have a point. The Special Mission Team will not be tied to the larger units of the squads. For battles, it is easier to organize a small army, although the chances of winning are less than commanding a unit as large as a regiment.

“Whatever you think, if Captain Lee Baek-ho agrees, I will send Team 12th,” said Angga.

Nio replied, “Understood, Sir. Then, please withdraw.”
