Inner war: test of faith

The entrance of the new Karanganyar Garrison Underground City is still under construction to get an upgrade. The fortress that protects the entrance gate to the headquarters of Company 406-32 is in the middle of the city – with the status of a potential battlefield has not been revoked – is gray. With protection from biological, nuclear, and chemical weapons attacks, the underground city in Karanganyar City also serves as a civilian shelter if at any time the city is attacked.

After showing his identity card to the gatekeeper, Nio drove his motorcycle slowly into the underground city. The dimly lit light that illuminated the entire underground city was no longer an unfamiliar sight to Nio, although there are some new facilities that are newly created such as barns and a number of defenses are made to deal with events if the aggressor successfully enters the underground city area.

In this new scene of the underground city, Nio realizes that the threat of war in Indonesia has not been ignored. Even the car park is made with a dual function, namely a vehicle resting place and a makeshift fortress for the main unit that fights directly on the front line. He parked his motorcycle where it had been provided, and returned the greetings of his subordinates who were still training after taking off his helmet.

Nio got a message from the commander of Company 406-32 to confirm a rumor, and many other things that the woman in the rank of major would ask. Although Nio's fellow in the underground city looked at him as if he had changed a lot, he was still the company's deputy commander who could be restless when facing his superior.

There was no way they could chat casually in the cafe, while the company members were tired of patrolling which could potentially cause friction between members.

Nio's boots gave off a resounding sound as he stepped into the meeting room set by the company commander. In addition, her ‘bar’ appearance left a number of staff wondering, yet not daring to question her directly on Nio after realizing she was a frontline fighter who faced many unexpected things on the battlefield.

The enlisted men and women just saluted and smiled, saying, “It's nice to see you again, Lettu Nio!”. They did not want to ask the state of the battlefield, or Nio would give an unexpected reply if the man's mental state was not good.

All the company members who met Nio understood that the battle that took place in another world was much different from when the war raged in this world.

“So, is it true that Major Darsono will marry your brother?” ask a woman dressed in a field uniform.

Then, a woman sniffing a clean white lab coat hooked up, “Then, you saw them both kissing and it made you jealous and ran away on the grounds that a message from Major Herlina couldn't be ignored?”

Major Herlina, the commander of the irreplaceable 406-32 Karanganyar Garrison Company, as well as Dina the head of the Karanganyar Garrison hospital and laboratory asked and looked at Nio with a sad expression.

“No... I did not run away or anything.” Nio answered him with a little uneasiness.

“Your answer is not convincing at all, so prove that you really ran away from the thing that made you hurt,” Dina's response resulted in Nio jerking, and bowing his head.

Nio realized he could not speak in a loud tone in the meeting room in front of the boss and the company doctor. He timidly fixed his sitting posture, and stared at the white fluorescent lights that illuminated the meeting room.

Nio was happy to visit the underground city, but did not like if the two people who were expected to give advice or a way out actually made him moody. It was his hope after getting a message from Herlina, but expecting help from two girls who have been rather ‘gila’ since his assignment abroad in a long time made Nio even sadder. Two older, more experienced people become a kind of treasured treasure to get just advice about romantic life.

Nio did not sleep overnight, not because his house was suddenly inhabited by many girls that made Nio face the situation ‘uji iman’. Darsono plays a big role in Nio's lack of time to rest like a normal human who enjoys a peaceful life. But, honestly, he still felt sad for the marriage that Arunika would live.

He decided to tell everything to Herlina and Dina, as he was confident that apart from giving a mockery they would both give proper advice in the face of this crisis of feelings. Right now, the heartache and heartbreak overwhelmed Nio's heart, leaving him with a desire for revenge against several people.

“Yeah, the point is you don't get too hurt. Arunika who hasn't really gone through the wedding is to your advantage. But, I doubt you can get Arunika's heart from Major Darsono who comes from a powerful family,” said Herlina, with a mocking face that is very clear and supported by Dina.

“Yeah, Major.. I think you will support me getting back Arunika,” Nio complained.

“For what we support our rival..” Dina stops her saying. The cause was clearly the woman beside him who was forcing his mouth to close by pinching him.

“What competition?” of course Nio was curious about Dina's words.

Herlina responded to Nio's question after freeing Dina's mouth, “Forget it. Of course you don't have a great chance of recapturing a rival! I mean Arunika. But, there is no way you do not have a chance even though it is as small as a grain of sand. Although the only way to deal with the ruling family is that you should have a degree equal to them, so Great General for example.”

“No. There's no way I can be a Great General. But, I can't let the situation get any more dire,” Nio said with a troubled face.

“Although I actually hope you face reality if Arunika is your family, and there is no way you can be in a romantic relationship, you still have to fight. Just imagine the police surrounding you after getting Arunika back to your side.”

“Doctor Dina, why is there a police too?”

“Not there is a saying ‘win so charcoal, lose to abu’ if there are subordinate officers challenging superior officers? I know that Major Darsono and Arunika's marriage has something to do with both politics and the family business. Even if you are against the Arunika family, there is still a possibility that you are considered to lose even if you actually win,” said Herlina.

“Oh, I just found out that you guys still have family,” continued Dina.

“Ya... family...” Nio sounds like he will say something with hesitation.

Nio let out a long sigh of disgust after hearing the Arunika family being involved in this conversation.

Herlina and Dina might think that Nio is not owned by anyone right now, but they both actually have healthy competition without trying to bring the other party down. The entire population of the Karanganyar Garrison underground city is aware that Nio is a figure they admire, and one of the TRIP members who is rumored to be getting an extraordinary promotion directly from the President. That way, his opportunity to become a TNI officer was wide open thanks to his achievements. Instead of ‘lik’, the female soldiers chose ‘admire’ Nio rather than heartbreak if at any time the man had determined his partner.

“Already, rather than your inner pressure getting worse, we get rid of the topic about Arunika's marriage, okay? I know you think ‘must’ is happy towards Arunika and Major Darsono's marriage, but do you think marriage is a happy ending? Perhaps this self-styled doctor had some lectures about it,” Herlina suddenly handed over her duties as a subordinate leader to Dina who was only a doctor to the residents of the underground city.

“Who are you calling a fake doctor?! Ah, I almost forgot what I was going to say because of this ugly one. I'll tell you a little bit about how men and women work. Men, they have to put up with women who will constantly scold them until it makes them almost crazy. After marriage, men must delay their pleasure, and must resist the desire to make themselves happy because they must attach importance to the happiness of their wives and children at home. And, women also have to deal with the desires of men who sometimes ‘gila’. Not infrequently men have senseless fetishes, such as doing ba* and with the body of the woman tied so that it seems the man is very domineering, or even vice versa. In essence, women think they should give up their bodies for men. Well, we can think of it as a sacrifice in life after marriage. Bottom line, men and women are very opposite.”

(olog note: fetish is a passion *******ual someone who has a special interest in an object *****ual or not. If you are still curious, you can use Google)

The answer is Dina, “Of course to continue the descent.”

“I know, but is there any explanation about it?”

“Oh, in my opinion, ancient humans used their brains to make many offspring because in the past there was often conflict. But you can use your brain more than that, right? Even the attempt to continue the descent could cause tragedy,” Nio's reply made Dina show an astonished expression.

Dina then said, “Nio, I think you belong to the nihilists.”

“Doctor Dinah, who cares if I'm a nihils or absolutist. It all depends on people's view of the meaning of life, but I keep living according to religion and norms so avoid pessimistic attitude to life.”

“Then, what do you understand?” ask Dina.

“Intinya, men still need women, and women need men. Even in a relationship can not be done only by one person, or two people but the same sex.”

Dini smiled because Nio had not lost his mind despite the heartache and vengeful thoughts, so that he could think of such a thing, and he said, “However, he said, there are some cases of one man having more than ten wives, and women having four or more husbands.”

Herlina was speechless as if bewitched by the ‘heavy’ chatter of Dina and Nio, as if that was the real talk instead of discussing whether Nio was hurt to see Arunika kissed by another man or something. He stood up while trying to understand the words of Herlina and Nio. Herlina poured the coffee into the paper cups of the three of them, and began to ask about the other topic she had in mind.

“Nio, have you ever heard of something called the Swan‘ ’Black theory?”

“No, not yet,” Nio replied while sipping instant black coffee with a much better taste than frontline coffee that has almost the same taste as mud. He then continued, “The Black Swan Theory that you said might have something to do with the Black Swan theory.”

“Well, maybe that's what I mean,” said Herlina with a face holding back bitterly for forgetting to add sugar to her coffee.

“What theory it is, what matters is not a heresy flow theory, right?” ask Dina.

Nio put a paper cup filled with coffee on the table and said, “Angsa, instead of most having a white fur color? However, a population of black swans was discovered in Australia. Of course, since that day the discovery changed the world of ornithology. Initially, the whole world assumed there was only a white goose, so no one could imagine the existence of a black goose. So, the Black Swan theory is when you make a prediction according to your knowledge, but it turns out that the prediction fails to take into account an event. It can cause a lot of chaos. Except for the eternal God, there is nothing absolute in this world. Life is full of uncertainty. Making predictions as if an uncertainty is a fact will definitely burden us.”

Nio continued, “We can judge that the theory of the Black Goose as a warning to humans, and how the human mind works. An easy example is a civilization endowed with fertile soil and abundant harvests for decades, but never imagined there would be a months-long severe drought that reduced soil fertility and lowered crop rates. Or maybe..”

Herlina suddenly interjected, “Or the emergence of another world and the existence of a nation from another world that waged war with Indonesia, and changed the history of this world?”

“Betul” replied Nio.

The two women smiled, when they had previously seen Nio so moody. Perhaps the sudden outburst of talk that led them to come up with a rarely heard theory led them to find a way to prevent Nio from approaching the brink of depression. Maybe they should have started talking about conspiracy or false theories from the beginning.

“There is something else that makes me curious, about the project ‘soldiers super’.”

Nio choked while drinking his coffee, and put on a shocked expression as he looked at Herlina who said that.

In view of his reaction, Nio probably knew something about the military plan of having a superhuman army, not metal unmanned weapons belonging to developed countries. Memories of the failed ‘Strong’ project, but it has claimed the lives of many soldiers reappeared in Nio's mind.

“Where did you hear that name?” the one who asked was Dina, which meant she could potentially have some information on the project.

Herlina answered him with a slightly agitated expression, “From the rumors spread in the company 406-32.”

“Major Herlina, how much do you know about the project?” the one who asked was Nio.

“Very few, and I heard there was one of the soldiers who became a guinea pig to test the bionic hand prototype.”

Nio is too afraid to say “The rabbit experiment was me, tofu” or chat will be widened from the main topic.

On the other hand, Dina was too agitated towards the continuation of the super army project that Herlina said. He thinks there's a wiretap still recording the three of them. He has a role on a super army project assigned to the largest private defense company in Indonesia. And, that project was something that made Dina have a great fear of God that she had never felt before.

One of Dina's roles was helping with the bionic right-hand mounting medical surgery for Nio one year ago. He considered saying the information he had about the project.

“I think Nio already knows about the next super army project,” Dini said.

Nio's answer was just a slow nod three times. Of course Herlina is very curious, but too confused to determine the question to be asked.

oolog note: Nihilism or nihilism is a belief that all values (value) are meaningless. More clearly, that there is no meaning/value in this life that applies to all humans, so yes, it does not mean. Nihilism is often associated with radical skepticism or extreme pessimism. Google Source. Absolutism is the view that the truth of value or reality is objectively real, final and eternal.
