By dramatizing this topic, he said,
“I think parents are definitely the best determinants for this kind of issue. They must have, by force, known better than their children”
“Omong empty!” miss Dior said, ending this conflict briefly.
“Does Papa arrange your marriage with Majorie?” She saw that she was already teasing her brother, and added, with a sweet smile,
“That kind of thing is outrageous, Arthur! You fell in love with the Majorie, and asked for her before Papa met her! Right, right?” Mr. Arthur harrumphed with a grim face, trying to stare at the defiant twinkle in his sister's eyes, then turned, and replied, with a wide smile shyly, “Yeah! But,” he said, while mastering his emotions again,
“I know Papa will approve my choice, and he does agree!”
“Of course he agrees!” Miss Dior said kindly.
“And, if he does not agree to it, surely you will cancel it, and propose a woman whom he agrees with!”
“I wouldn't do such a thing!” firmly with passion. He looked at his sister's eyes that were filled with laughter, overflowing helplessly for a moment, then gave up, saying in a loud forced voice,
“Oh, fuck you, Caroline! My circumstances ... different!”
“Of course it's different!” he patted his brother's arm.
“No one with common sense can raise the slightest objection to your marriage with Majorie!” Mr. Arthur's hand, flipped under his sister's hand, grasped it with a hangar, and he said, with a sense of shame from someone who is difficult to speak, “He is priceless, Caroline. Right, “kan?” Miss Dior nodded, floating a fleeting kiss on her brother's forehead. “Of course! Well, in the meantime you'll see for yourself Cherry. Belevia will go with her, and Archard, to the theater tonight, which will give us a chance to have a conversation comfortably.” Sir Arthur was surprised.
“What? That young man is also here?”
“Yes, he's staying at the Somme, but he'll be here for dinner with us.”
“I don't understand at all this problem!” his weakness.
“No, this situation is indeed laughable.” His sister justifies with a jail attitude. “And, the best part of this joke is, now that no one has tried to persuade them to get engaged, they stay in the thick of it unless, of course, there is a small commotion. Schoolboy problem!”
Miss Dior then stepped away to change into her street clothes in an evening gown, and when she returned, she took Cherry with her. Cherry looks so beautiful and young. After the girl saluted by bowing her head and conveying her greetings, with her alluring shy smile, Mr. Arthur's expression of rejection loosened slightly, and by the time Archard introduced himself, the expression of Mr. Arthur's rejection loosened slightly, he watched Cherry kindly, and persuaded the girl in fatherly style to talk to her. His sister was not surprised because, as a person who is very concerned about trivial things, Mr. Arthur always tends to like girls whose manners show they are well educated and raised. At first, Mr. Arthur was a bit stiff with Archard, but Archard's manners were also so good that by the time they got up from the dinner table, they were very good, Mr. Arthur has forgiven the young man for signs of budding dandy from the edges of his high clothes and his very unkind attempts to style his tie in a style known as waterfall, and it has been decided that this young man is not dangerous: it is certain that this young man will cultivate his desire to imitate the style of dandy: to be sure: and the respect this young man showed to the older people showed he was also raised hard. Mr. Arthur observes, with satisfaction, that both the young man and Cherry treated Caroline with affectionate respect: but when the party that was about to go to the theater had left home, Caroline saw her brother frowning. After waiting for a while, he asked, “Well, Arthur? Is that girl the type of noise as you thought?”
Mr. Arthur did not immediately reply, and when responding he said it with a serious look towards his sister, “I hope you do not involve yourself in a matter, Caroline.”
“How is it possible?” yukie, surprised.
“For God's sake, has your mind gone awry? The child you have chosen for you to help is not an orphan taken off the streets, but a member of an honorable family, the heir to what I value as, from what the girl told me, a great fortune, and being raised by an aunt who could be as stupid as you say, but she has devoted all her care, care, and attention, and luxury to the girl! I ask you, how did the aunt feel about this incident? Actually, you have kidnapped the girl!”
“Oh, bullshit, Arthur! I don't do such a thing!”
“They may not blame you for driving him to your carriage when you find him abandoned on the street, but they must blame you as much as I do, for not returning her to her aunt when you understand better this matter! You don't even have any reason to believe that the girl has been arbitrarily treated!” Caroline was shocked, but determined to defend herself.
“Oh, no, but when the girl told me about the pressure that Lady Raina put on her and not only Madame Raina but also Oliver's family I realized, that I'm sure you didn't notice, the girl felt herself trapped, and I pitied her from the bottom of my heart! Had Archard had enough decisiveness to tell his father that he didn't want to marry Cherry, the problem might have been different, but it seems that none of the Oliver family members dared to prevent the father because they were all afraid that he would suddenly become very angry, end up having a heart attack, and very likely die from it. A lowly form of tyranny, isn't it? But I think Archard started to realize it because when he returned to Etretat, after leaving Cherry in my charge, he found the whole family in an uproar.
None of his much-loved family, apparently, tried to hide the fact of Cherry's escape from the Great Lord Oliver, or to explain to him because Archard was with the girl then it was highly unlikely that the girl would face any danger. I thought that Lord Oliver had become very angry, but instead of feeling tired or listless, he was full of vigor, and rebuked Archard in a sharp language, without causing himself to suffer. So, Archard became furious, packed up his clothes, and returned to Rouen to protect Cherry from “someone who is really foreign”! I can't blame him. Poor that kid! He had already suffered bad luck with Cherry, and finding himself the target of accusations and mockery was a bit too much for him. He had done all he could to persuade Cherry to return with him to Etretat, but, unless he brought her back by force, there was no other way to do so. And, I don't think she can do that, because that girl would be desperately trying to fight, and you know, that girl, what Archard feared the most was a kind of public spectacle that would be created from that resistance.”
“But, this is even worse than I thought!” sir Arthur, very surprised. “Unsatisfied with being involved with the Constantine family, you have instead severed the family relationship between the young Blanchet and her parents! You're wrong, Caroline, so wrong! I could've guessed you'd do something weird if I let you leave the house. Blanchet too! I didn't think this might happen, a polite boy could be guilty of inappropriate quarrels with his father.”
“Arthur Darling, you're so suck!” miss Dior said, feeling a little amused. “I didn't involve myself with anyone, and I had nothing to do with Archard's quarrel with Great Lord Oliver. Really, I carefully refrained from advising him not to be a very obedient child even though I wanted to do so! Actually, I was very surprised to find out that finally his patience had its limits because even though in many ways he was a very good young man, I did think he was less brave. I would not be surprised if this incident made Oliver appreciate and love him. The best thing is, after accusing Archard of already “leaving Cherry to someone completely foreign, Great Lord Oliver now cannot scold her for coming back to protect the girl. About Mrs Raina, I wrote a polite letter to her, explaining the situation of my meeting with Cherry, and pleading with her to give the child permission to stay with me for a few weeks. According to Archard, the aunt had convulsions and hysteria, but although she was not yet willing to reply to my letter, she had shown her consent by sending Cherry's suitcases to Rouen.”
