Love Lightning Old Virgin

Love Lightning Old Virgin
Chapter XX

Caroline's eyes widened as she listened to the man's words, but despite being shocked by his disobedience, she inevitably felt amused by them. An amused feeling made his voice tremble as he said, “This is truly an amazing man, Mr Constantine! You received a letter from the aunt of your guardian child, written with a very uneasy feeling, and you did not make any real effort, I'm very sure, to understand the contents of the second page of the letter, or if indeed the stains confuse you go to Etretat to find out exactly what has happened!”

“Yes, at first it seems the situation is very urgent,” the man confirmed. “But, fortunately, the next day came a letter from Oliver, which was short and readable. She told me Cherry was in Rouen, her aunt's condition was weak, and that I wanted to help my guardians from the clutches of a woman she feared was cunning and ingenious, who called herself Miss Dior, I have to go to Rouen immediately.”

“Well, as if that wasn't enough!” caroline said furiously. “Calling herself Miss Dior, huh?! And, in what way am I supposed to have conspired with Cherry?

“On that, he did not discuss it.”

“If he knows Cherry lives with me, he must have written to you after Archard's return to Etretat because he couldn't have known where Cherry went or what my name was! Yes, and after Archard gave to Madame Raina a letter I wrote to her, by telling her about the situation of my meeting with Cherry, and begged him to let the boy stay with me for a few weeks! I'd love to know why, if she thinks I'm a cunning, wily woman, why she sent Cherry's suitcases here! How stupid of him! But, about Oliver! How dare he write such a bad thing about me? If he spoke like that with Archard, no wonder Archard ignored him!”

“What do you say, Mistress, is very similar to the contents of the letter Mirela Raina!” mr Constantine said. “Both are equally incomprehensible! What does Archard have to do with this jumbled issue?”

“He is closely related to all of this! Lady Raina and husband and wife Oliver decide to marry her to Cherry! That's why the girl ran away!”

“Married him to Cherry?” Mr. Constantine repeated.

“Omong empty! Are you trying to tell me the boy is in love with her? I can't believe it!”

“No, I'm not trying to tell you that! She did not want the match as Cherry did, but did not dare to tell her father for fear that his father might have a heart attack. Oliver scares his family with this threat in order for them to comply with all his wishes! I guess you don't know in the slightest about how the situation is in Etretat?”

“Maybe absolutely not. I haven't visited that house since the death of my brother-in-law. Oliver and I are not interconnected, never.”

“Then, I will tell you!” miss Dior promised, and immediately began to explain the situation that prompted Cherry to flee in haste.

Mr. Constantine listened in silence, but the expression on his face was not enthusiastic, and when Miss Dior ended the story, the man showed absolutely no sympathy or understanding so he called out suddenly, in an irritating tone, “Oh, for God's sake, Madam! Don't tell me more about this Cheltenham tragedy! Fussing over something that might actually get done quickly!”

“Mr Constantine,” said Miss Dior, holding back her anger with great difficulty, “I know that you, as a man, may not be to blame for failing to understand Cherry's dilemma, but I assure you, for a girl who has just graduated from school, it must feel like she has entered a trap that the only way to get out of there is to escape. Had Archard had enough determination to tell his father he had no intention of asking for Cherry, this matter would have been over. Unfortunately, his love for his father, coupled with the confidence he had instilled in his head, I am very sure, by his mother against Oliver's request was tantamount to killing him, he said, beat any toughness he might have. As far as I can tell, the only idea she had was to get engaged to Cherry, and trust God to prevent the marriage from happening! One good thing that arose from this adventure was Archard, who found on his return to Etretat, his dearest father became enraged, without suffering the slightest pain, without suffering any pain, start to realize that Oliver's weak heart is just a weapon to control all his family members.”

Miss Dior observed, with satisfaction, she finally managed to make the man feel displeased. Mr. Constantine flushed, then said in a hidden irritated voice, “Because the only plea I ever received from Cherry relates to things that are beyond my authority”

“In fact, begging a horse of his own?” sidetrack Miss Dior quickly. “Is it also beyond your authority, Mr Constantine?”

The man's eyes emitted a twinkle of disapproval. “Did he ask a horse to me? I don't remember it.” Now, it's Miss Dior's turn to be confused, as she finds herself unable to remember whether the refusal to allow Cherry to own her own horse is one of Cherry's accusations against her uncle, or just one of Ms Raina's bans she thought was an order from her uncle and felt it was pointless to protest.

Fortunately he did not have to retract the statement because, without waiting for an answer, the man said, “If he did ask, I am sure I would indeed refuse to let him build his own palace. I can imagine some idea more stupid than having a horse and a steward in town. Both, I'm sure, need a lot of food!”

After knowing for herself this truth, Miss Dior was unable to deny it, so she wisely threw away the question, and threw back her initial accusation by saying, “But, she said, isn't it true that I believe your custom is to direct every Cherry request addressed to you at Mrs Raina's judgment?”

“Ya, of course you are right,” he replied impatiently.

“What do I know about how to educate schoolchildren?”

“How sad is the calmness that your conscience gives you,”, Miss Dior said.

“My conscience does not need tranquility, Mistress!” sahut rude. “I may be Cherry's legal guardian, but it was never expected that I would have to deal with the details of her upbringing and upbringing! Had it been proposed to me, I would not have hesitated to deny such responsibility. I have no inclination to like children.”

“In fact, not for your only child?” brother tanyakanya. “Didn't you feel any affection for her?”

“No, absolutely not,” replied Mr. Constantine. “Why should I? I barely knew him. There's no point expecting me to be sentimental because he's my nephew. I know as little about my brother as I do about Cherry, and what I know I don't like very much. I don't mean to say there's just bad things in him, there's definitely a lot of good things as well, but he's lacking common sense, and have too much sympathy that doesn't suit me. I find it very boring.”

“Well, I also find my sister very boring,” said Caroline honestly, “but as often as we fight each other, there is a bond of affection between us. I guess that bond must always be between brother and sister.”

“Maybe you know your brother better than I know my brother. It was only three years of age, but even though that distance meant nothing among adults, it was a wide gulf among the school children. In Harrow, he made, as I recall, a pretty heartwarming close friendship with Young Blanchet. They were both fans of the army, and entered in the same regiment when they left Harrow. Since then, I have only seen it occasionally. He married a beautiful woman who was not intelligent either. The woman was not as stupid as her sister, but she had more beauty than reason, and a mouth that liked to speak unqualified things that were unbearable to me. I know, of course, when Oliver bought Etretat Manor, the close friendship between him and Blanchet was strong, and I think I've guessed that a couple of fantasizers would have planned a bad idea for a closer relationship by marrying the Blanchet heir to Charles' daughter. Although the reason Blanchet or when he was called Oliver must still carry out this noble plan after the death of Charles I do not understand at all! Unless he thinks the Cherry property will complement his own estate.”
