My Fiance Is The 2nd Male Lead
The Eastern Border Conflict

Ever since learning the truth behind her attempted murder, Suiren felt she had no appetite. He was confused as to how he should launch revenge on someone like the Empress. If this is a game, maybe the Empress will be the last boss who must be defeated to be able to finish the game.

The potato salad and corn soup in front of him were untouched, and his glass of milk was still full. Meanwhile, the breakfast served in front of his father was gone.

“Don't ask anything, Dad. I just don't want to eat.” Before his father started interrogating him, Suiren spoke up.

“Today Dad will go do surveillance on the eastern border of the empire.” General Themisree took a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped his lips to remove any food and drink left.

'Eastern boundary?' Think Suiren.

In the novel ‘Serena’, the Eastern Border is a part of the often mentioned because on the border lies a gold mine whose ownership is split in two between the Helianthus Empire and the Ginryuu Kingdom. Throughout Suiren's knowledge, the conflict began when the Kingdom of Ginryuu learned that the Helianthus Empire's gold mines became the headquarters of human trafficking and attempted to dismantle it.

The Ginryuu Kingdom had devised a plan so well, that even one of the princes of the Ginryuu Kingdom allowed himself to become a victim of human trafficking in order to dismantle the evil syndicate. Unfortunately, this plan did not end well.

Kyrie Wisteria saw the potential for war from this conflict so she decided to intervene in it. At the request of Empress Eleanor, Kyrie killed the third prince of Ginryuu Kingdom. Were it not for her own sake, Kyrie would not have been willing to interfere in the imperial family conflict. But if the two Empires and Kingdoms fight, then Crown Prince Frederick will join in and Kyrie will do whatever it takes to separate Serena from Frederick.

Eventually the war between the Helianthus Empire and the Ginryuu Kingdom was inevitable and in accordance with Kyrie's plan, Crown Prince Frederick led the war on the front lines. However, Serena's love for Crown Prince Frederick was so great that she was willing to wait for the return of the Crown Prince even though she had to suffer bullying from other empress candidates.

At the end, Crown Prince Frederick returned safely and Kyrie did not get what she wanted. A futile attempt that makes Kyrie look miserable in the novel.

“Are you sure? Nothing of interest in the eastern border.” His father asked back.

“I have to come, Dad! To be honest I don't feel safe being home without you.” Although he was just looking for an excuse to join, he did not really lie when he stated that he was afraid of being left behind by his father.

Suiren then rushed to eat the breakfast that had been prepared in front of him and finished the hot milk that had turned warm in his cup.

His father nodded and then stood up from his chair. “You'd better get ready because we're leaving at noon today.”

Suiren stood up from his chair and followed his father out of the dining room.

Suddenly his father stopped his steps and turned to look at the princess. "You have to promise me that you're not going anywhere without Gilbert's supervision."

Suiren gave his most reassuring smile. "Of course."

However, in his heart he knew that maybe he would not be able to keep his promise.
