Tonight, the moon is shining. His silver light shone on the eastern border very beautifully, making the empty-looking gold mine glitter like a jewel. The wind was fresh and slightly mixed with the scent of the sea.
Suiren and Kyrie walked through the forest surrounding the Empire's gold mines to avoid the hustle and bustle of the imperial troops who were busy with their respective affairs. Some were cleaning up the wounds of the battle with the Ginryuu kingdom troops, some were talking to each other. Everything is clearly visible from up here.
Kyrie wore a black top with a collar covering her neck and black pants. Suiren was wearing a black blouse with a dark purple skirt. They look like a real couple in matching clothes.
The wind blew away Suiren's hair as well as Kyrie's. Both of them were silent and said nothing. Their main purpose for walking is to talk. But no one seemed to have the intention to start talking.
“About what you said on the dock, what do you mean by life this time?” Ask Suiren. Starting with a question is a good idea.
“No, Suiren. This time it's you who will speak to explain, not me.” Kyrie brushed off Suiren's question.
Suiren scrunched his forehead. He did not remember giving permission to the Duke to call him by name. Then Suiren sighed.
“Then let's suit.” Her request.
“Suit?”
Something Suiren remembered from his previous life.
“So, we will fight using fingers. There are three things that we can remove, namely scissors, stone and paper. Paper will lose if against the scissors, the stone will lose if against the paper and the scissors will lose if against the stone. This will make it easier for us to determine who should start talking.”
Suiren explained while giving the gesture of scissors, stones and paper with his finger.
Kyrie looks unsure but she decides to follow the girl's will so she can quickly scrape the information.
“Alright then. In the count of three simultaneously.” Suiren
“One.”
“Two.”
“Three.”
Both bring out two different things. Suiren took out the paper and Kyrie took out the scissors.
“I can't believe I beat you at your own game, Suiren.”
“To be honest I wonder why you suddenly called me directly by name, Duke Wisteria. It makes me feel uncomfortable.” Finally Suiren said.
“Now it's not your turn to ask.”
“Tsk!” decak Suiren's.
“How did you know that I came to this eastern border carrying a special mission from empress Eleanor?”
“I told you that I can see the future, but you don't trust me.” Suiren looked at Kyrie with a serious look.
“What do you mean maybe?”
“Depends on what kind of future you know.” Answer's short. “Giliranku.”
Suiren looked at Kyrie with a look of disbelief. “What do you mean it's your turn?!”
“You used your chance to ask what I said earlier.”
Suiren realizes that Kyrie is playing him in the game he proposes. It upset him but there was nothing he could do.
“What kind of future do you know? Tell me everything.”
Suiren laughed mockingly. “You won't like this story. Are you sure you want to hear it?”
Kyrie did not reply, she gave a defiant look to Suiren. It was as if Suiren's warning was just a mere wind.
“The future I see is a future where you will not be with the girl you love, Duke Wisteria.” Suiren. “You won't get a happy ending with Serena Tagates.”
Kyrie was not surprised by Serena's words. “Then?”
“Serena will marry Crown Prince Frederick and they will get a happy ending. While you're not. Will you believe this story?” To be honest Suiren did not expect Kyrie to believe this story. “Normally people will choose not to trust a prophecy that does not make them happy.”
“I believe.”
Suiren frowned. He was surprised by how easily a Kyrie Wisteria could believe his words.
“But you're naive, Suiren. Marriage is not the end of everything, you can not conclude someone will get a happy ending just by the occurrence of marriage.”
As she spoke Kyrie's face slowly turned gloomy. A face that shows that he is recalling bad memories.
“Marriage can be the beginning of happiness but it can be the other way around. Unfortunately for Serena and Crown Prince Frederick, their marriage became the beginning of a tragic story.”
“Tragic?” ask Suiren.
Kyrie nodded.
Suiren did not believe what Kyrie was saying. After all, how could this man in front of him know that the marriage of Serena and the Crown Prince would end tragically even though his own marriage had not taken place.
“How did you know that their marriage would end tragically? The selection of empress candidates has not even begun.” Shoot Suiren.
Kyrie looked at Suiren deeply.
“Because I was a witness to the fragility of their love story.”
