“This doesn't make sense. Crown Prince Theophael is too young to send to the battlefield!” Duke Rosa hit the table after hearing the absurd idea put out by the Queen Mother.
Kyrie could only be speechless seeing this commotion that was happening before her. He predicted that this would happen, because the Queen Mother was a very power-hungry person.
If he sends Crown Prince Theophael to battle, he will be in control of the throne. If the worst comes and Crown Prince Theophael is killed on the battlefield, it could be the Queen Mother who will ascend the throne. That would probably be the beginning of the destruction of the Helianthus Empire.
“In my opinion, rather than filling Crown Prince Theophael's head with theories, it is better to field him directly in practice. That way, it can mature in adulthood faster than it should.” Duke Syringa said he approved of the Queen Mother's idea.
The Queen Mother smiled slightly after hearing Duke Syringa's words.
“How about you, Duke Wisteria?” ask the Queen Mother. His eyes almost looked like snakes.
Kyrie just smiled. He did not care what would happen to the Crown Prince or what would happen to this Empire. He knew that there was nothing he could do to fix the corrupt government that was in the shadow of Eleanor Helianthus. ‘If this empire will be destroyed, please. I Already don't care about anything.’ Her thought.
“I agree. Let the Crown Prince go to the battlefield.” He said as he stood leaving the meeting room.
“Duke Wisteria!” Duke Rosa ran after Kyrie to the outside of the meeting room. With the issuance of his opinion, the majority of votes have been obtained and that means the voice of Duke Lilium has no meaning.
“What are you thinking? The boy was a kid.” Say it while breathing.
Rosa's family used to be behind Empress Eleanor, but because Lady Tarance Rosa who was the first daughter of the Rosa family was not selected as the winner in the selection of the Crown Princess candidate for Crown Prince Frederick, the first princess of the family, so the Rosa Family changed course and decided to become part of the supporting faction of Emperor Helianthus at that time.
Kyrie squinted both of her eyes and looked at Duke Rosa with an annoyed look. “You need not pretend to care for Crown Prince Theophael, Duke Rosa. You are only worried that if the Queen Mother is in control of the throne, she will destroy your family that once supported the late Emperor Thaddeus.”
Duke Rosa widened her eyes towards Kyrie. What the Duke said was right. He simply did not want the imperial throne to fall into the hands of Queen Mother Eleanor Helianthus.
“Tsk! Shut the fuck up Duke Wisteria. Don't act like you know everything.” Duke Rosa leaves Kyrie.
After that, Kyrie walked towards the imperial palace garden. Trying to breathe fresh air when suddenly someone hit his leg.
Crown Prince Theophael.
“I'm sorry, Duke Wisteria.” Said while looking down.
‘This incompetent boy dared to hit my feet.’
Kyrie gave her fake smile. “That's my fault, Your Highness.”
“I'm on the run from my tutor. He said that I should not leave until I memorize a book about the history of the Helianthus Empire.” Said coyly. Her blond hair that glistened in the sunlight reminded her of Serena.
That was one of the reasons why he hated this boy.
“Do I ask, Your Majesty?” kyrie said sarcastically. Although he was not sure, the seven-year-old boy before him understood his sarcasm.
“Do you want to help me hide, Duke Wisteria?” ask the Crown Prince.
Kyrie scrunched her forehead. “No, Your Grace. You better not run away from a tutor who works hard to teach you.” Although Kyrie knew what her tutor was doing was more like torture than education.
Crown Prince Theophael's face turned sad.
“Your Highness Crown Prince Theophael Helianthus!” a bespectacled figure ran towards the two of them.
The Crown Prince gets ready to run but to no avail as Kyrie catches the collar of his clothes.
“Let me go, Duke Wisteria!” her door. He thrashed around trying to free himself from the Duke's tight grip. “At least if you don't want to help me, you don't have to do this to me.”
Kyrie did not let go of her grip. He continued to hold it tightly until the figure with glasses was close to them.
“Thank you, Duke Wisteria.” He said, bowing in respect. He then pulled the Crown Prince and brought him back into the palace.
From a distance, Kyrie could see the Crown Prince turning his neck and looking at Kyrie with an annoyed look.
After the two people completely disappeared from his sight, Kyrie walked into the garden to the fountain located in the middle of the park. His intention was to be aloof and stay away from the hustle and bustle of the imperial palace. But apparently someone had been near the fountain first and was sitting next to it.
Kyrie was in no mood to talk to anyone, so she slowly moved away from the fountain.
But the General seemed to feel his presence.
“Duke Wisteria.” Call her. “How many years have we met since last?”
Kyrie slowly twisted her body to face General Themisree.
“General Themisree.” The reply. He did not even remember the last time he met the General. Because their territories are different, the two do not often meet each other. General Themisree spent much of his time in charge of the expanding eastern regions since the Empire's war with the Ginryuu Kingdom, so that the two were not in much contact with each other.
“It looks like the last time we met was at my daughter's funeral.” He finally answered the question he himself asked. "Ten years ago."
‘Ah, correct. His daughter died and I represent the Wisteria Family come to serve.’
“Do you want to hear my story, Duke Wisteria?” tanyakanya. His eyes looked tired because they had eaten time. The frown on his face was more obvious than what Kyrie had in mind when she met him ten years ago.
Kyrie took a long breath. But he decided to hear the story that the General meant and sat down next to him.
“I have a sister, her name is Meredith. He has a free soul in his blood, he cannot be restrained by anything. Therefore, when my father told him to become an imperial troop, he decided to leave the house. Leaving me with all the obligations he should have done.”
The wind blew violently, dropping leaves from the oak tree. The rustling sound followed the fall of the leaves, making Kyrie feel sleepy.
“At last I replaced his obligation as the eldest son and followed in my father's footsteps by becoming a knight. It was no surprise to me when I met the Emperors Thaddeus and Meredith on the battlefield between the Empire and the kingdom of Tahlia. Meredith had become a member of the imperial elite force. It became something that made him run away from home, became something he should hate.”
“When seeing the two men fighting on the battlefield, they looked like a pair of complementary wings. Together they conquered the army of the Kingdom of Tahlia and gradually I began to understand why Meredith became one of the elite troops of the imperial.”
General Themisree paused while staring at the sky. “They are in love, Duke Wisteria.”
“At that time, Emperor Thaddeus was married to Empress Eleanor, they were even blessed with a son, the late Emperor Frederick. They do not marry for love. They married because of politics.”
Kyrie tried hard to hold back her sleepiness by covering her mouth with her hands.
“After that I never met Meredith again because I was busy defending the border and Meredith had her own busy life as an imperial elite force. Day after day, one day Meredith appeared in front of my house. Surprised me and Silvya, My wife.”
“Meredith does not come alone. It came with a two-month-old fetus contained in her womb.”
“Seven months later, the baby in the womb was born. Meredith gave her an unusual name, but she said it reminded her of the sweet memories she once had. The baby's name is Suiren.”
It was the moment Kyrie lost her drowsiness.
“He asked me and Silvya to take care of him like taking care of our own son. After that, as usual, irresponsibly he left us and never came back again. For years I hated him for doing irresponsible things. But Silvya loved Suiren very much and I slowly began to love him like my own son.”
Kyrie widened her eyes at the information she had just received.
“Is.... The late Emperor Thaddeus was the Father of Lady Suiren Themisree?” Kyrie asked with a confused face.
General Themisree did not answer Kyrie's question. He just smiled a little. But that little smile confirmed what Kyrie had said.
“Recently I know that Meredith is not leaving us because she does not want to be responsible for her actions.” He said, suddenly his face turned grim. “He was killed by Empress Eleanor for very obvious reasons.”
“But there's nothing I can do. I will not be able to bring to life the dead and I will not be able to avenge myself on Empress Eleanor. Wh-wh-what for? There's nothing more I need to fight for. I'm late to know the truth.”
“Why.... You told me this, General Themisree?” Ask Kyrie.
General Themisree smiled. “At least by telling you this, this truth need not be buried dead with me. Because when I look at you, it's like I see myself. We are both equally incapable of protecting something precious to ourselves.”
Kyrie. He knew the meaning of the General's words. How he could not protect the woman he loved with all his soul.
“This may be the last time we will meet, Duke Wisteria. I hope you will always be healthy and happy.” He then stood up and walked away leaving Kyrie who was still sitting trying to process all the information he had just received.
It was the last time he met General Themisree.
