The prisoner's car stopped behind the police station. They avoided the usual rush of reporters waiting ahead. The driving police immediately opened the back door of the car. From that door, two officers came out carrying a prisoner. It was Abi.
Abi placed the edge of his handcuffed palm on his forehead to block the glare-inducing sunlight from piercing his eyes directly. He stared at the police station while recalling his bad memories a few weeks ago, when he was tortured after being caught carrying meth.
Due to the new findings at the final trial, Abi is scheduled for a re-examination today. He had to answer questions for the sake of questions from the investigators.
“It looks like we came too soon. Shouldn't we have coffee first?” seloroh Abi who was not responded to by the officers.
They brought Abi in through the back door of the police station and through the winding corridor. Until finally they stood in a room familiar to him: the interrogation room.
One of the officers linked the handcuffs in Abi's hands to the table. Then they left Abi alone. Although he had mentally prepared for whatever would happen during the examination, he was still nervous.
“Good day. I'm Aipda Marthaliza Regina Reus and my partner, Briptu Slamet. Did you previously understand the purpose and purpose so that the examination is carried out now? If you understand in what case?”
Abi was stunned to see the person before him, who introduced himself as the investigator who was about to examine him. The woman was Regina, her best friend since childhood.
“Isn't this a re-examination of the drug trafficking and murder case against Mischa Radjasa?” Abi asked back.
“Good, means you already understand. Please good cooperation for this inspection.”
Regina did not look into Abi's eyes at all, though she realized that Abi kept looking at her. His face looks serious. Abi never saw his best friend behave like that to him. He remembered his mother's words yesterday, if he had to apologize to Regina and he had promised to do so. But, looking at the situation, he wasn't sure if now was the right time to apologize. Even they seem too eager to pretend they don't know each other.
“Good, Mom. I will work together as best I can,” said Abi who decided to act as if she did not know him as well and speak the official language.
“Do you know Benjiro Michael? What is your relationship with him?”
“I don't know him personally. I only get information about him from my legal advisor.”
“How does your legal advisor get information about him?”
“Through investigation. He's great at doing it.”
“Why did he do the investigation? Did you or your legal advisor know from the beginning that Benjiro Michael framed you?”
“No. I just mentioned the traits of the person who gave me the drug package to send on the day I was arrested. Then, departing from the traits I mentioned, my lawyer did an investigation and found Benjiro's name. Previously, we never knew him, even heard his name was not.”
Regina tapped the pen in her hand onto the table while staring at the file before her. While Abi was still looking at her with a smile. Despite not knowing the relationship between the two, Briptu Slamet who became Regina's partner felt a sinister aura between them.
“Why haven't you told investigators before about the person's features?”
“How can? They kept forcing me to say if that guy was Mischa. That's what made those cops torture me,” Abi said. He deliberately used the word ‘para polis’ to provoke an angry reaction from Regina. The woman herself once said that many police officers hated her and gave her the title of complainant for exposing the torture inflicted by the police when interrogating her first.
“Are you sure that Benjiro was the person you met at the time?”
Again Abi provokes Regina by discussing the two investigators again. However, the beautiful policewoman can still control her emotions well. In fact, he seems to deliberately avoid discussing Aipda Carlos and Briptu Donny, his colleagues who continue to be discussed by Abi, and choose to focus on questions about Benjiro.
“Could you please mention the characteristics you saw and convey to your legal advisor regarding Benjiro?”
“Either coincidentally or not, his posture has a lot in common with Mischa. Height about 180 cm, thin, white skin color and narrow eyes. Only, he had his left eye blue, his body slightly bent, there was a burn scar on his palm, his right leg was a little longer so that when walking a little limp, it looked slightly limp, as well as a rather cryptic Japanese accent.”
“So, with just such traits, your legal advisor can find Benjiro?”
“Of course with the addition of one important factor that is very helpful,” Abi said. “He must be a drug dealer because it is difficult for ordinary people to get as much methamphetamine as he entrusted to me.”
Abi deliberately keeps a secret about VIP coins from the club belonging to Dirga's boss. Regina did not need to know her relationship with the casino magnate, let alone after her change of attitude.
“How did you and your legal counsel conclude that Benjiro was the perpetrator of the murder?”
Abi took a long breath. He leaned forward with his elbow on the table as his body support. “I've said this in court and it seems like the whole country has heard of it. That man is not the killer. He just engineered Mischa's death, I don't know why.”
“Yes, I mean, how can you and your legal counsel conclude that he engineered Mischa's death?”
“Isn't it hard to know? I'm sure the police knew it before the trial. Maybe not by agency, but it is impossible that there is not one of the police members who can not know.”
For the first time, Regina looked into Abi's eyes, even with a sharp gaze. There was a hidden meaning to the words spoken by his old friend and he understood it.
“Colour Means?”
“I mean, there must have been a policeman who interrogated Aipda Carlos and Briptu Donny and got the name Benjiro. Then, he tried to catch her, but the bastard had to be released due to lack of evidence,” Abi explained with a smile. “Or more precisely, because the order tops.”
Regina and Abi stared at each other. No words, just staring at each other. Regina knew exactly what Abi was talking about.
Unbeknownst to Abi, even without the knowledge of his co-workers, Regina has been secretly investigating Abi's case. He finds out the whereabouts of Abi's two interrogators and torturers, Aipda Carlos and Briptu Donny, who went missing without a trace.
In the end, he meets Briptu Donny who is hiding in an area. The police inform Regina of two things: the name of Benjiro and the fact that the agency he served in was not as clean as he had believed so far.
According to Briptu Donny, many parties were involved in the Abi case, including several police officials. It would be difficult for him to catch Benjiro just by relying on a little bit of evidence. Moreover, the case was beyond his authority. Therefore, he tried to arrest the man for his other crime, the murder of one of the drug dealers.
Honey, even though he had already gathered enough solid evidence to hold her back, the man could be free with just one verbal order from his superior. Everything is exactly as Abi said. He was ashamed to admit it.
“I feel you know too much,” Regina said in a stifled voice.
“I'll say everything I know and want you to know,” reply Abi, now without a smile and just a sharp gaze.
