Way Back To You

Way Back To You
The Underground Tunnel

“How's Hanna?” narendra asked after Eliana came out of Hanna's room.

The middle-aged woman sighed deeply, she shook her head at the sign Hanna was not okay. She sat down beside her husband, staring fixedly at the palm she used to slap Hanna.

“I didn't expect to slap my own daughter, at this mature age.” muttered Eliana. “I should have asked her what happened, why did she get pregnant instead of directly judging her. I'm really not a wise mother.”

“Already..” Narendra grabbed Eliana's hand. “You're just in shock, we're all in shock. But never do it again to Hanna. We know our son, she's a respectable woman. There must be a reason behind all this.”

Eliana sighed. Lona serves two glasses of chamomile tea to Hanna's parents, and sits in front of them. “I'm sorry Om, Auntie. I think I also played a part in Hanna's pregnancy.” He's down.

“What exactly is it?” ask Eliana.

With a little nervousness, Lona told everything back to the two. “Intinya, I invited him because he looks sad and stressed after breaking up from Jhon.” He ended his story.

Eliana and Narendra are silent. Disappointed? For sure. They leave Hanna to Lona, entrusting their daughter to her. But it's all happened. Being angry at Lona was also useless, would not change anything.

“How many months is the pregnancy now?” eliana asked after she had been quiet for quite a while.

“Four months Aunty's road. Tomorrow should be his USG schedule.” Lona was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief. She thought at least the two of them would throw her out of Hanna's house, but instead of scolding her, they didn't even say anything.

“You really don't know who the baby's father is?”

Who says they don't know? The bastard who delivered the vitamins was the man. But instead of being responsible, he even raved about things that were not clear. Dna test? What does she think Hanna's child is?

“Sorry Aunt.”

That's all Lona can say. He won't say anything, won't uncover the truth about the jerk. Maybe it's fate Hanna can't be with him, because honestly such a man has no price for Hanna –and Lona too. If at any time Hanna needs a male figure to accompany her, they can look for her. Hanna can definitely get a good man for her life.

“Already..” Narendra sighed. “Now all we have to talk about is not how Hanna got pregnant or whose father, but how next. What should we do with our child?”

“Nothing we can do.” Eliana looked at Narendra. “All this we have to give back to our son, Hanna. He has his own thoughts, his own decisions. Hanna's an adult, she's doing this because she knows what the risks are and she's ready to take it. As parents, we can only provide support and not complicate it.”

“You're right.” Narendra nodded his head. “Good. We wait for Hanna to feel better, then we talk this over with her.”

*

Liam wiped away the teardrops that were still falling past his face. His gaze was empty facing the waves on the gently thumping shoreline. The weather was overcast and not too hot, but along the coastline he was the only person sitting there.

From a distance Bobby looks at Liam, reluctant to leave him alone. Even though Liam asked him to leave, he still could not move. Liam is suffering a lot now and he is filled with guilt towards Hanna. However they had already taken this step, there was no way to return anymore other than to finish everything.

Bobby checks his car, sees if there's any alcohol inside as he usually leaves some inside. After some time –even he almost gave up, he saw a pack under the passenger seat. “Hopefully the content is alcohol.” Mumbled.

Justright. There were three small cans of alcohol, and Bobby smiled. “Alright, let's make Liam a little quiet.”

Liam looked up – with tears still remaining on his face as a white plastic bag fell beside him. “I only found this.” Bobby sat down beside him.

“You want to take me for a drink in broad daylight like this?” murmur Liam.

“Why not? Not bad, to drive away sfor.”

The beachfront atmosphere is back. Occasionally there was the sound of soft waves pounding, then the sound of a heron that was earthy. Liam let out a long sigh, opened the alcohol can and downed it. It feels strange to drink alcohol in broad daylight like this, but it is quite good enough to eliminate a little sadness.

“We meet at Silver Bowl Restaurant as usual, five o'clock in the afternoon."

“Good. We're there now.”

“Noah?” guess Bobby.

Liam nodded. “Maybe she found something important.” Hopefully Noah finds something to uncover who is behind all the terror Hanna received. They've done a lot of plans, secretly fused with the enemy, pretending..I hope he has good news.

Silver Bowl restaurant is quite solid even though the short hand clock is still at the number five. Liam and Bobby waltzed in with masks after some of Liam's envoys made sure it was safe. In the private room they had agreed to, Noah was waiting with a chocolate map.

“I thought you guys didn't come, I almost went home.” Noah scowled.

“Macet. You ask to meet at the office, the risk is of course congestion everywhere.” Bobby relaxed.

“You found something?”

Noah hands the chocolate map to Liam's front. “Jhon met Veronica last night.” she crossed her arms across her chest while Liam and Bobby checked the photos. “But before that he was back to visit home in the slums that time.”

“I think the house is inhabited by someone.” Mumbled Liam.

“True. The people you asked to spy on the house also said someone opened the door. But as they inspected the house by trying to peer inside, the house was quiet and very dark. They've been around the house for hours to monitor, absolutely no movement.”

“Your people have been watching the house for almost two weeks and their reports are still the same, no one came out of there. Veronica also did not bring anything when it came. But how to survive inside the house?” Bobby folded his hands.

Liam bit his thumb. He seemed to think hard. “Didn't he have another way to his house?” Liam looked at the two in turn.

“For example?”

“Underground line.”

Liam really likes buildings that have basements. Because of his obsession with all the things that can be done underground, he had even thought of making an underground tunnel as a secret passageway. Simple actually. He only intended to be able to go in and out of his house quietly without being noticed by the paparazzi. But could this idea have been first implied by someone else?

“Caused..” muttered Bobby. “That means he can show up anywhere, right?”

“The house is located at the very end, closest to a small forest. What's possible..” Noah widened his eyes.

“Tap.” Liam. “He must have been in and out of the woods.”

“Wahh, I feel that this is a bit serious.” Bobby amazed. “Like drama on television, you know?”

“Whatever he is, he should be in control of Veronica.” Liam. “Since the USG photo was spread, I know the culprit all this time was not Veronica. Just like me, he and Bradley were probably just pawns, too. As stupid as Veronica was, she would not commit such reckless acts.”

The deployment of the USG photo is a small gap to uncover the truth about who is the mastermind of all things Hanna experienced. The perpetrator might think it could weaken them, but he wouldn't have expected it to open the door to the truth. That small gap is what Liam is now using, assisted by Bobby and Noah.

“I will put our people on guard around that small forest.” Noah said.

Liam and Bobby agreed. “Good. Noah, I trust you with all this. I'll take care of the others.”
