“Have seen my email?”
Liam sits alone in the basement, spending the night with alcohol and solitude. After Hanna fell asleep, Liam immediately went down. His mind is bad, his brain is fucked. Leanor's presence makes her life slowly improve with Hanna become disturbed again. Maybe Hanna will be okay, but she's not. Liam didn't have – plans in the first place to find out who abandoned him. But the woman came to him alone, when she felt her life would be fine.
“You asked me to investigate Leanor Marie?”
“True.” Liam sipped his alcohol. “Investigate him to his roots. All his life, his past, his family, everything. I want to get accurate data about him.”
“Good. I'll find out the identity of the woman and tell you as soon as possible.”
Liam hung up on her phone. He's Steve Anderson, a detective hired by Liam specifically to examine who Leanor is and her background. Although she was the first woman to say that she was Liam's mother, she couldn't believe it right away. He is different from Hanna. Her heart was too easily touched –maybe due to the influence of Hanna's pregnancy, but Liam would not accept it easily.
He will search for the identity of the woman until all the truth is fully revealed.
After he finished his call, Liam went up to the room, carefully opening the door and closing it again without making any noise. Hanna was fast asleep, and Liam's smile expanded to see Hanna sleep like a little baby.
Liam lays down beside Hanna, then looks for the most comfortable place in Hanna's arms, Liam's head ending in Hanna's chest. Memory of Leanor, the paper containing the health letter from the hospital, the sentence ‘aku his birth mother’ fondled his brain. Shit, Liam swore. He closed his eyes, trying to block all the memories of the woman.
His heart hurts, it hurts. Reuniting with someone who made a scar in his heart after decades had passed completely reopened the worn-out sheets of his life.
The bitterest part, the side of his life that Liam wanted to forget the most.
“Liam.” Hanna muttered, stroking Liam's hair gently.
Liam did not answer. He opened his eyes so that the tears that had been pooled in both his eyeballs did not fall. She drowned her head even more so that it stuck to Hanna's chest, hoping that the scent of Hanna's body could dampen her tears. But she was wrong, the more she was held back the more her tears burst out. Droplets flowed into Hanna's chest, causing Hanna to push Liam's head slowly.
“Why you? You...crying?” Hanna raised half of her body in order to see Liam clearly.
Liam shook his head and decided to immerse his head in Hanna's chest, but the woman moved away from him, and sat down.
“Why?” Hanna stroked Liam's face. “About Leanor?”
Hanna's voice sounded very soft and her tone implied great concern for Liam. For a moment Liam felt a little comforted, his patience slightly flying, evaporating in the air. Hanna knows how she feels. Without her saying anything, Liam was sure the woman understood his feelings. And strangely, instead of stopping, Liam's tears were flowing more and more.
Hanna brought Liam into her arms. He rubbed Liam's hair gently, then rubbed his back. Liam spills his grief in Hanna's arms until her tears stop, and then falls asleep.
Although Liam slept well all night, this morning he somehow refused to wake up. Partly because she did not want to go through her days after remembering about Leanor and partly because her eyes were sore by her great cry last night.
Liam flips his body, fumbling the bed with his hands, hoping he finds Hanna. But Hanna was gone, probably waking up first. What time is it? Thought Liam. He looked at his watch and snapped. Jesus, is it nine in the morning? How could he sleep until noon like this? What about Hanna's breakfast? Quickly Liam rushes to clean himself up to the bathroom and plans to find Hanna.
“You're up?” Hanna smiled sweetly at Liam, as the man gushed his head from the bedroom door.
Liam smiled wryly, sat down at the table and Hanna had prepared breakfast just like she used to. “Sorry I woke up too late.”
“It’s okay.” Hanna put down a piece of bread that had been coated with peanut butter and a boiled egg. He also serves a glass of fresh milk in front of Liam. “Just imagine I'm doing a job that a wife should be doing.”
“What did you say? Wife?” Liam catches Hanna's arm as she leaves Liam to get her own breakfast. “You said you were my wife?” liam's face sparkled.
“Before.” Hanna smiled shyly. “But will be your wife soon.”
“That means you agree we're getting married?”
“No..” Liam wrapped his hands around Hanna's waist. “I won't let you go.”
Hanna smiled, nodded her head full and then kissed Liam's lips warmly. “You can find our wedding date.”
“Really?” Liam gaping, a little incredulous and too.happy. “You ready? I can prepare our wedding time?”
“Mmm.” Hanna nodded steadily. “I want to be Madam Andreas soon.” He said while laughing.
Liam hugged Hanna tightly. For a moment he could forget for a moment what was weighing on his mind. All the truth will be revealed soon. Ready or not, he'll hear what he didn't want to hear. Liam still wanted to hug Hanna for longer, but suddenly the door of his house was knocked by someone. Is he Leanor? Is the woman back?
“Let me open.”
Hanna stroked Liam's face and kissed her lips softly. “If she is Leanor, do you want to meet her or should I ask her back?”
“Just have him back.”
Liam's not ready. For whatever sake he would not be ready to meet the woman who had already left him since the red baby. It won't.
“Good.” Hanna nodded. “Will I say.”
It turned out that it was not Leanor who was standing in the doorway, but a man completely unknown to Hanna. “Whose you?”
“Steve.” The fat man stretched out his hand that was slightly soaked in sweat. “Steve Anderson, detective hired by your fiancee.”
“Come..”
Hanna didn't expect Liam to hire a detective. Make what? Did he really not trust Leanor?
Both of Hanna's eyeballs look at and assess the detective Liam hired. He ate voraciously –a little messy, as if he had never had breakfast before. Though the food served by Hanna was just peanut butter bread and boiled eggs, it was not a fancy breakfast menu. The only reason why his way of eating was like that was that he was a greedy person.
“Enak.” she smiles squinting at Hanna.
“Thanks.” Hanna said briefly.
He glared at Liam who was collecting dirty dishes. Where'd he get a detective like him? Can't Liam find another detective like he saw in the dramas?
“How many months?” Steve's gaze was directed toward Hanna's stomach.
Hanna glanced at Liam, but Liam only smiled in response to Hanna's gesture. Liam didn't even tell me Steve was coming to visit. At least he could wear clothes that were a little loose compared to this tight tanktop. “Four months.” Sahut Hanna short.
“I also have a daughter, two people and four and two years old respectively. You know, being a parent is fun, and having kids is a lot more fun. Soon you will experience priceless experiences when the baby is born.”
Steve took over the conversation for a while. He told his household, his wife and his two children. She even took the time to advise Hanna and Liam on how to form a good household.
“Good.” Steve straightened his back. “We've had enough of our story sessions this time. I came to get your DNA sample.” He pointed at Liam using his chin.
“You found something?” ask Liam.
“I'll tell you soon.” Steve smiled mysteriously. “Hanna, maybe you can help our hero to take some strands of his hair.”
