Way Back To You

Way Back To You
The Truth Slowly Revealed

“Where are you going?”

Hanna saw early in the morning Liam wearing a jacket and tying his shoes near the entrance. Liam's face was still gloomy, Hanna guessed she was still upset with Leanor. As the man snatched the car keys, Hanna stopped him with her own body.

“You said there was no filming schedule today. Where are you going exactly?” hanna asked with concern.

“Go a minute.” Liam said short.

“Iya, but to where?”

“Entahlah. Wherever it matters my mind can be clear.”

Hanna looked at Liam softly. “My whereabouts can't clear your mind?”

“Not so Han.” Liam sighed, looking frustrated. “I just want to sit by myself. I mean..You understand right?”

“When did you come home? What time?”

Liam shakes. “Entah. I'll let you know later. Maybe I'm not home tonight.”

“But you are like this. Are you going to be okay?” Hanna's sentence refers to Liam's emotions still filling himself.

“I'll be fine.”

Hanna can't hold Liam. He let the man go and disappeared with his sedan. Liam may take some time to ease his emotions, but Hanna won't wait. Hanna tapped on her phone while walking back and forth in the living room.

“Hai Steve, this is Hanna.”

There's no other choice. Hanna can only contact Steve, the detective Liam hired to find out about Leanor.

“Ya Han, what's up?”

“Are you busy? I..want to talk about something.”

“Let me guess, this must have something to do with Liam and that woman, right?”

“Mmm.” Hanna muttering. “Yesterday he came to Liam and did not know what they were talking about, but Liam looked very upset even to the point of being heavily drunk. And this morning he went from home, out of nowhere. I'm worried about him.”

“Then what do you want to talk about?”

“Have the results of her DNA test come out?”

“Not yet. The doctor said the results will come out tomorrow. What's up?”

Hanna took a deep breath. “Leanor met Liam when I wasn't home. I think it's a little suspicious. I mean, Leanor told me she'd give Liam a lot of time and she also said she wouldn't see Liam without telling me first. But yesterday he came, and..I'm a little suspicious.”

“Surgery? Why?”

“Entahlah..” Hanna mondar mandir's. “I'm afraid this woman is just taking advantage of the desperate situation that Liam is experiencing. She knows Liam is an adopted child and she deliberately took this opportunity to show herself.”

“So you think all this is just about money?”

“Well..” Hanna sighs. “Liam does have a lot of money, doesn't it?”

Hanna heard a deep breath from across the street. “Actually I'm not too sure either. But we should wait for the results of the paternal test before making this conclusion.”

Hanna nodded in agreement. “Good. That's all I want to tell you. If the test results come out, please contact me asap.”

“Ok Han's. I'll do.”

After disconnecting the phone, Hanna still pressed some numbers on her screen. This time he called Bobby out of concern for Liam.

“Bobby, are you busy?”

“Ngak also.” Bobby's voice still sounds heavy, it looks like he was still sleeping when Hanna called him.

“EEhhmm.” she heard Lona's voice.

Hanna smiled because she understood why Lona was beating on her. “Sorry to bother you. But I need your help Bob.”

“Shortly.” Bobby kissed Lona's forehead still lying in the blanket. He went outside the room so Lona wouldn't be bothered. “Say Han, what's up?”

“Seriously she's gone from home?” bobby said after Hanna told me what had happened.

Bobby took a breath, thinking for a moment. “Entah Han. But I'll look for him. She's really so angry?”

“I've never seen him like that before and, yes, he's very angry and upset. I don't know what Leanor told him.”

“I understand. Don'worry. I'll drive Lona to your house before I go find Liam. Lona will accompany you. Wait a minute ya.”

Hanna nodded. He sat on the sofa, propped up by his chin with a burning worry. Liam left the house with an emotion that was not very stable. Hanna was worried she would do something no-no.

*

Liam drove slowly while occasionally looking out through the car glass that was deliberately left open. The day had begun to turn late in the afternoon, when he stopped in front of the orphanage where he had been abandoned first. He traveled hundreds of kilo meters to get to this place, and he was very tired –also hungry.

It had never arisen in Liam's heart if he was going to come back here, a place he didn't want to visit at all. But somehow, when he got out of the house, his goal was only to the orphanage, nothing else.

After finding the right parking location, he pulled the car over and turned off the engine. From across the street, he saw some of the activities of the caretaker who was doing a lot of things. The children were playing on the field, not much, yet they looked cheerful without burden. They were still too innocent to know how painful the reason for their existence was until they ended up in that building.

Liam got out of the car, after waiting for some passing vehicles and empty streets, he crossed. His feet were heavy as he entered the orphanage grounds, and the group of children playing stopped at the sight.

“What you come to adopt? Select me..” a boy comes to him.

“Choose me.” Said another boy.

“No, just me..” shouted the girl.

“I'm it.”

“I'm it.”

“Choose me.”

Liam was puffed up, imagining they were his old self. But when he was in this orphanage, his life was not as free as these children. He was bullied, so when someone came, he would hide inside his room.

“Kids..”.

An elderly woman shouted from the door of the administrative office. Liam turned his head, recognizing the woman whose hair was almost all overgrown with gray hair. The woman approached Liam using a stick in her hand as a helper to step, her steps short, glasses hanging on her nose and a hearing aid attached to her ears.

She's Celine Amora, the caretaker of the orphanage. Back when Liam was a child, Celine still looks healthy and her skin is still elastic. Now all that is too obvious swallowed by time and age.

“You.”

“Liam..” he smiled extending his hand.

“Gosh, is that you, son? I've seen your news on television.”

Liam smiled back. Celine's hands felt warm and fragile grasping her hands. Celine rubbed Liam's hand as if she was sympathetic and pitying Liam.

“Sorry that I didn't pay much attention to you.”

The old hand placed a plate of bread and tea before Liam while the two of them were in the administration room. Liam looked at the bread in front of him. The bread was still the same as the one he had eaten several tens of years ago. Not much has changed from the buildings in the orphanage, alleged Liam not many donors who donated there.

He looked back at the bread in his hand which evoked memories of his bitter past.

“Are you okay?”

Liam nodded. “Slightly upset but I'm fine.”

“So that stuck in your heart?”

Liam quiet. She was wondering if she should tell Celine about Leanor. It was something that concerned his personal matters and there was a sense of reluctance in his heart.

“My biological mother came to see me yesterday and I was a little upset by it.”

Celine was surprised, her eyebrows furrowed. He fixed the position of his glasses and looked at Liam after goal. After that he also fixed the location of his hearing aid.

“Say once again.” His word.

“My biological mother came to me. He said a lot of things and I.I can't take it.”

Celine clasped her wand tightly. “I think I heard wrong, it wasn't. Son, isn't your birth mother dead?”
