While supporting the body with elbows, Hanna sat on the porch of the house after finishing weeding the weeds growing on the sidelines of the plants. It was already afternoon, and Liam had not returned as well after leaving two nights ago. Suddenly a white cat came up to her, meowing a few times and sitting next to Hanna.
“Who are you? Are you lost?” Hanna.
The cat meowed again, rubbed his head into Hanna's hands and laid his body on the floor, right by Hanna's side.
“I worry about him.” muttered Hanna to the cat curled up next to her. “If he doesn't come home, at least he can tell me where he is now.”
The cat paid no attention to Hanna at all, but talking to the cat was much better than talking to yourself. At least it still looks a little normal.
“When he said he wasn't coming home, I thought he was kidding. I thought he wouldn't have the heart to leave me alone in this big house.” continued Hanna, despite lack of support from the cat. “When there's Lona and Bobby, she shouldn't have left, right?” Hanna looked at the cat.
The cat opened his eyes, sighed, then closed his eyes again.
“You should have seen how she expressed when she left me. I know he's confused and upset, but can't all things be talked about? Why did he choose to leave and not tell you of his whereabouts?” hanna again.
And what exactly am I complaining about now? Think Hanna. Liam is in a mess, his feelings are worried and his past wounds reopen after Leanor comes to him. But didn't his actions disappear like this even cause Hanna another problem? If she had been patient for a little longer, she would have known the truth if Leanor was not her real mother, but her deceased mother's man. But until now, Hanna had not even had time to tell Liam about this truth.
“He's selfish.” Hanna again to the cat. I haven't seen him for a few days and I miss him a lot. He should have gone home. He shouldn't have to hide himself. He said I could heal his wounds, why would he leave me?
“Then it's like this, what if our child is born and one day he faces a problem. That means he'll just leave us?” Hanna told the cat quickly.
The cat just yawned wide. He opened his eyes looking at the plants, then not how long he went back to sleep.
“For what did he say all his promises to me if he couldn't keep them? Just this little thing, I mean, it's not even a little problem. But he should have trusted me in this, too. He should have told me what his head was so I could understand what he was doing to him.”
The cat realized he would not be able to sleep quietly next to Hanna. He stood up, stretched his body and yawned widely, then jumped up and walked towards the park. His long tail swayed from boredom.
“Good, even you don't want to listen to me.” grumbled Hanna while pointing at the cat, and the designated one only turned his head for a while before rubbing his body between the grass.
What Hanna gets in return is a tail wag as the cat walks towards a bunch of catnips that Hanna accidentally lets grow.
“I will revoke the catnip so you don't come back here.” Hanna warned.
The cat just meowed –entah was mocking Hanna or realized if Hanna's speech was just a mere threat, then re-sniffed the catnip plant. He was not at all affected by Hanna's words.
“I'll pull it out and replace it with a plant you don't like. You don't like roses, do you? I'll plant roses there.” Threaten Hanna. “And you will regret for leaving me so easily when I need a friend to talk to.”
The cat was still sniffing the catnip and a soft snoring sound signified that he was happy in the middle of the plant which could affect the behavior of the cat. He broke down, occasionally biting into catnip regardless of Hanna.
“What am I really doing?” hanna muttered alone.
He nodded, then stood up. It was time to clean his body. Soaking in warm water might make his brain relax. Soon Lona and Bobby will definitely come and at least she'll have a bath if they arrive.
As Hanna grabbed the doorknob, she saw from a distance a sedan speeding towards her house. He recognized the vehicle. The sedan belongs... “Liam?” hanna's forehead shriveled.
He undoes his intention to enter the house, waits and makes sure if it is Liam. When she saw Liam get off the car –and she was fine, Hanna couldn't hold back her tears. She is disappointed and sad, but she also feels relieved when she finds out Liam is back with her in good health.
“Han..”.
Hanna didn't say. Instead of welcoming Liam and hugging him, he instead went inside the house, passed through the living room and went straight into the room. Liam tries to catch up with her but is unsuccessful when Hanna instantly closes the door, just as she is about to step into the room.
“Just go there.” cried Hanna, amid tears that poured out. “Obviously you don't need me anymore.”
“Hanna, let me come in and talk. I'm sorry Han. I knew I wasn't supposed to leave home.”
“Tell that to yourself.” Shouted Hanna from inside the room.
He sat down by his bedside, unwilling to hold back all the emotions that were stirring within him. Hanna understood, well understood if Liam needed time alone. But that doesn't mean he has to leave Hanna for two whole days. No, Hanna can't take it.
“Han.” Liam was still trying to persuade, but Hanna did not budge.
Just then, Bobby and Lona emerge from the doorway. Since they accompanied Hanna during Liam's departure, Hanna had already given the spare key to Lona so that whenever they came, they could go straight inside the house.
“Where have you been?” snarled Lona at Liam. “You know every second Hanna always cries? She always blames herself for thinking she doesn't deserve to be your partner.” Grunts Lona.
Bobby just held his breath. She did not say anything, but her facial expression explained how disappointed she was to Liam.
“I'm wrong, forgive me.” Liam's sahut is short. “But there's a reason why I can't go back home. I..”
“You think I want to hear it? Hanna just won't hear your excuses, let alone me.” Lona grunted just like that, accidentally bumping into Liam's arm as she passed him.
He knocked on Hanna's room door. “Han, are you okay?”
“I don't want to meet him..”
Lona.
“I know..” Liam nodded, almost desperate. “I'm going to the basement. If he's ready to talk, please have him meet me below.”
Liam touched the door to Hanna's room before stepping down towards the basement. Bobby smiled raising his thumb at Lona. “My woman is fierce, but kindhearted.” His word.
“Your partner needs to be taught a lesson.”
“I agree. But since he's my cousin, I don't think you mind if I accompany him, do you?”
“Go.” Lona. “Actually I wasn't too angry with him because I knew he also had a reason behind what he was doing. Let me persuade Hanna so they can talk to each other.”
“Good.” Bobby kissed Lona's cheeks gently.
Bobby stroked Lona's cheek before leaving her. He went down to the basement and found Liam removing a bottle of alcohol from the storage cabinet. Bobby sat down beside Liam, looking at him fixedly.
“I think one bottle is still lacking if your heart is still chaotic like this. Can I get you some more?”
Liam smiled at the sarcastic tone in Bobby's sentence. He poured alcohol into the glass, stirring it several times before chugging it to the ground in one gulp. After that, he filled his glass again, then drank it until it was no longer there. While Liam busied himself with alcohol, Bobby just sat quietly beside him, not the slightest intention to ban him.
After one bottle of alcohol was running out, but Liam still needed a few more –as Bobby predicted, he got off his chair towards the storage cabinet while Bobby still did not budge. He only watched Liam as he took out two more bottles of alcohol.
“Tell me what makes you like this.” Bobby held Liam's hand as he was about to pour alcohol into the glass. “Leanor is not your mother. Steve has investigated it. Now what else?”
“He already told you apparently.” murmured Liam. He let out a long sigh, pouring alcohol back into the glass. “Thanks has accompanied Hanna as long as I go.”
“He kept crying. Lona and I even argued because she was so angry with you that you abandoned her best friend. You shouldn't have done it, Liam. However, Hanna is pregnant, and pregnant women should not be stressed excessively. It will affect your fetus.”
“I know..” Liam. He nodded slowly. “I also regret it.”
He seemed to think for a moment, then shook his head. “But it's good that I'm leaving home. I so know how I was born in this world.” murmured slowly.
Liam was silent for a moment. His eyelids began to water, the longer they piled up so he could not hold them any longer. As a drop of her tears fell, Liam immediately threw away his face and wiped it off. He cleared his throat, took a deep breath and then looked down again.
“Don't tell me you went to the orphanage.” Guess Bobby.
“I am indeed there.” Liam smiled a little. “Be only wanted to take a walk for a while, but I instead found out the truth there.”
The bitterness of Cathy's life, the fact that she's the fetus of criminals - whether criminals who because of their number four, she's unwanted in this world. All that reality tore his wound growing bigger.
"I don't think I deserve Hanna."
