Way Back To You

Way Back To You
Your regrets are late

Liam suddenly woke up when he heard the sound of door banging repeatedly. He was taking a nap because his body was tired after filming all night. Hanna is away with Lona because she's a little tired of being home on weekends like this.

Summer is coming to an end. Hanna wanted to buy some of her necessities to welcome the turn of the season.

With a somber pace because he was still a little sleepy, Liam wore a white T-shirt that he took for granted from the closet. While wearing his clothes, he stepped towards the door. “Sebentar.” Liam from the inside.

When he opened the door, Liam stared at someone he did not want to meet in this real world. “Leanor?”

Leanor smiled. The woman stared at Liam with teary eyelids, paying attention to every detail of Liam's body from head to toe. His brain asked Liam to retreat, closed the door and then returned to room –sleep soundly. But his legs were stiff, he could not retreat and just stayed where he stood.

“What do you want to say exactly?” liam asked, a little sniffling.

“You want us to talk here?”

Liam took a breath. “Come.”

They sat on two different sofas, opposite each other. Liam did not want to get close to Leanor because she was not at all comfortable. If he knew Leanor would come to visit, he wouldn't let Hanna go. At least if there's Hanna, she'll calm down a little.

“I'm sorry, Son.”

Leanor's trembling voice slipped into Liam's ear, sending a signal to his brain and touching his heart. Upon hearing the apology coming out of Leanor's mouth, there was a feeling in her heart that Liam couldn't describe, a combination of anger, sadness, disappointment and despair.

“Why apologize to me?”

“I was the one who put you away in the orphanage yard when you were just born.”

Liam's hands clenched, his teeth clenched so that the pull of his jaw was clearly visible. “Why?”

“I'm sick Nak.” Leanor held back her cries, a wounded expression was drawn there. “..and.and your Papa, that man won't take responsibility while I'm pregnant.”

“Then what dumping me is a solution to your problem? You know that I almost died of cold and hunger?” Liam stood up, pointed at Leanor with his finger, and shouted until his voice filled the entire living room.

“I know... I'm sorry.” Leanor cried so much.

“Not to say sorry now, as if you were looking for sympathy to justify your actions. I won't be touched in the least.” Screeched Liam.

“Sorry.” Leanor looked down, her tears flowing down the river.

Liam twisted his body, both his hands were on his waist. He's upset and angry. Leanor should never have reappeared. Liam has almost made peace with his past thanks to Hanna. He shouldn't have let his feelings go back.

“You know, for thirty years of my age, I have always fortified myself. I looked at the person with a suspicious look, I was wary of everyone around me. I always felt that if I was weak, they would throw me away, just as you did. I forced myself to work harder.Hard harder even though I was exhausted.” Liam stopped, his breathing was heavy and his voice was choked by his own emotions. “.. I want to take a break, but I always remember the rejection I experienced. It makes me tormented, do you know?” he again shouted out his frustration.

“If it wasn't for Hanna, I wouldn't have known what her name loved, cared for, accepted heartily. And you.you are not entitled to receive any credit from Hanna's efforts to heal my wounds.”

Leanor began to tremble, she stood up nervously. “I know Son, I know. That's why I don't have the courage to approach you.”

“It was even worse..” cut Liam, staring sharply at Leanor. “I languished in an orphanage, tortured by my friends until I was eight. If only.” Liam is approaching Leanor. “.. If only you had looked for me before I was adopted, it was possible that I could still change my principles because given my age was still very young at that time. Yet you let me pass into the hands of others for up to thirty years, and you just came to me.”

“I'm looking for you, son. It's just that the economic hardships I'm going through can't make me take you back.”

“Omong empty.” shouted Liam. “I only eat twice a day, sometimes if lucky enough to be able to three times if the orphanage the arrival of guests or donors. I can eat with a piece of bread.” Liam's tears burst out, he started crying as he pleased. “..just a piece of bread. It's not hard raising me, because I won't make things difficult for you either. You're just looking for a justification for your attitude, understand? Actually you don't want me at all.”

Sepi, all that sounded was a sobbing of the two. Liam wiped his tears away, feeling affection if his tears fell for the person who didn't really care about him.

Deserted back. Liam leaned against the sofa, turning his back to Leanor who was still crying. Liam's tears had dried up, his emotions had stabilized. Liam only wanted Hanna at this moment. She wanted to hug Hanna immediately and poke her head in Hanna's warm chest.

“I know you are very angry.” Leanor grabbed her handbag. “But I am grateful you are safe and can live comfortably Nak.”

“Well, thanks Ma.” He said with sarcasm. “Now go. I don't want to see you.”

After Leanor left, Liam shouted to himself and threw some books arranged on the nightstand. His face flushed red, with an annoyed grunt he went to the basement.

*

When Hanna returned home, the atmosphere of the house was pitch black. He even tripped by something to the point of almost falling. After finding the switch and turning on the lights, he saw the books scattered on the floor and it was that thing that tripped his feet. Hanna was stunned, a little confused as she reassembled the books onto the nightstand.

“Liam..” he tried calling Liam.

Silence, no speech. The house was completely empty like it was uninhabited. Did he fall asleep?

Hanna didn't find Liam in the room. The phone was on the bed, which meant Liam didn't leave. The only place where Liam is.basement.

“Cheap woman.”.

Hanna heard Liam's curse from the steps, sounding quivering and confused. He went down one or two steps, then paused when he saw Liam sitting on the floor with several empty bottles of alcohol. He is drunk, and completely unaware Hanna is home.

“You shouldn't have come in my life.”.

Liam's hands pointed in several directions with trembling hands and a flushed face. He was really drunk. Why was he suddenly drunk? It's still.. Hanna glanced at the clock on the wall. At seven o'clock in the night. What happened to Liam? I just left him for a few hours and he's drunk?

From the number of bottles of alcohol he counted, Liam had been drinking since a few hours ago.

“What happened to you?” Hanna robs Liam of the umpteenth bottle of alcohol.

“Hanna.” Liam exclaimed as if he had just seen Hanna. “Where have you been? I need you.” Liam hugged Hanna suddenly.

Since Hanna's legs weren't too strong as she squatted down, her body was dazed to the floor and Liam overtook her body. “Why are you like this? Slide your body.”

Hanna tries to get rid of Liam, but suddenly Liam sleeps on top of her body. “Tell the woman...don't come again..”.

A lady? Which woman? Is Leanor? He came to Liam?

“I hate it...hate it..”.

Hanna's hand slowly moved, from the one that was originally on Liam's chest, now shifted to her back and stroked it gently. “What did Leanor meet you earlier?”

“Mmm.” Liam replied with closed eyes. “She said many things..” Liam suddenly sat down, with his body hovering and eyes still closed. “She...says a lot of silly things.she justifies her attitude.she is a bad woman..”.

“He thinks he can make amends?...Won't..”

Hanna sighs. He sat down in front of Liam who was already heavily drunk, then hugged her. “It’s okay.” Hanna stroked Liam's back. “I'll talk to him on your behalf.”

Liam still said a few words, but Hanna did not hear it clearly. In his arms, Liam fell asleep, while still occasionally raving about Leanor.

“You'll be fine, Liam. We'll be fine.”
