Death Flute
Stories of the Past

Ever since the three of them often disappeared to speak, Kui Fang felt somewhat lonely and isolated. He was eager to be with Chien Wan, but he realized he was just an outsider. Even though he had known most of their talk, it was still out of place that he included himself.

There was something he wanted to know; the past of Chien Wan. He was eager to ask Chien Wan. But he did not want Chien Wan to think of her as a presumptuous girl, who likes to interfere in other people's affairs.

Kui Fang sat alone in the park, waiting for Chien Wan to come.

Meng Huan flashed and saw the girl contemplating. He smiled a little and approached.

“Nona Wu?”

Kui Fang looked over. “Eh, Sister Chi.”

“Why are you alone? Not with Chien Wan?” asked Meng Huan while sitting next to Kui Fang.

“Sister Wan is talking to Brother Luo and Ping-er. I don't want to bother them,” please Kui Fang.

Meng Huan shook her head in concern. “Hopefully they are not talking about the past.

“Last time..?”

Meng Huan turned her head and looked at him in wonder. “You don't know yet about Chien Wan's past and Ping-er?” tanyanya surprised. He thought the relationship between Chien Wan and Kui Fang was deep enough and Chien Wan had already told the girl everything. It turned out that Kui Fang knew nothing.

Kui Fang shook his head. “No, I don't know.”

Meng Huan looked worried. “I don't know if it's appropriate for me to tell it...”.

Kui Fang was curious, yet he did not want to force it. “It's okay if Sister Chi mind telling her.”

Meng Huan looked at the sad-looking girl, and immediately made a decision. He told all those sad stories of the past to Kui Fang. It starts from their childhood, when Chien Wan still thinks he's an orphaned country boy. She recounts when Chien Wan was sent to Nada Valley and how Ting Ting objected because she was in love with Chien Wan. He also told me about the relationship of Chien Wan and Ouwyang Ping who was so romantic.

Kui Fang's eyes widened. “Kak Wan... and Ping-er?” whispered restrained. He was devastated. It was not expected at all. Never thought that it turned out that Chien Wan's past was that complicated.

“Ya,” nods Meng Huan while exhaling. “It was sad to see them finally knowing the fact that they were actually sisters of different mothers. Their relationship should not be continued at all because the relationship is a forbidden relationship.”

Kui Fang's heart was broken. But he strengthens the heart. “Then?”

Meng Huan told in detail about what Sung Cen did in protecting Chien Wan. About how he disguised himself as Uncle Khung for almost twenty years. About how Uncle Khung was nurturing Chien Wan's love for Nada Valley.

“Then Uncle and Aunt Ouwyang finally reunited after a long time apart? It is fitting that Brother Wan's youngest brother is still very small,” muttered Kui Fang. He lowered. Ouwyang Ping always seems strange when talking about Chien Wan.

Meng Huan did not tell me anymore. He looked at the girl's expression with pity. “You like Chien Wan?”

Kui Fang's face flushed, yet he did not refute it.

“And now after hearing our past, how do you feel?”

Kui Fang raised his face and looked at Meng Huan steadily. “Last time Brother Wan was indeed very sad and heart touching. But that's the past. I won't bother with it.”

Meng Huan grimaced. “A lucky steps Chien Wan.”

Kui Fang looked on sympathetically. The complicated love between the five of them made him frown and feel deeply moved. Ting Ting loves Chien Wan. Chien Wan loves Ouwyang Ping, and vice versa. Sen Khang loved Ouwyang Ping even though his own people never wanted to admit it. And Meng Huan loved Ting Ting very much.

“One thought...”.

Meng Huan furrowed her brows. “Who is sorry?”

“You all.” Kui Fang shrugged his shoulders. “You all suffer from romance games.”

Meng Huan snorted laughingly at the term that Kui Fang had expressed.

“How now?” ask Kui Fang.

“What is how?”

“About you and Ting Ting!”

Meng Huan sighed. “A few days ago, Aunt Sui She said she wanted to match Ting Ting with Chien Wan. Ting Ting must be happy to marry her.”

Kui Fang was aghast. “Ta... but...?”

“I will support them wholeheartedly.” Meng Huan looked pityfully at Kui Fang. “Sorry. I know how you feel about her. But if I had to choose, I would choose Ting Ting's happiness rather than my mother's taste for you.”

Meng Huan shrugged her shoulders. “Chien Wan loves her mother very much. Whatever his mother ordered, he wouldn't turn it down.”

“But that means Brother Chi can't get Ting Ting!” the Kui Fang. “That means Sister Chi sacrificing her own happiness!”

“Oh, of course not!” ringing Meng Huan. “Ting Ting's happiness is my happiness too. If Ting Ting is happy, then I will be happy,” he said steadily.

They were so serious about talking that they did not realize that someone was listening to them from behind a huge rock. Ting Ting listened to everything with teary eyes. He closed his eyes and tears flowed down his cheeks.

Brother Huan is very kind, he said inwardly moved. If it was true that Aunt Sui She was about to match Brother Wan with me, Brother Wan would definitely be willing to do so. How nice it would be if Aunt Sui She had proposed this before all this happened. Before he was abused and humiliated.

Ting Ting quietly left the place.

Just as Ting Ting was leaving, came Chien Wan, Sen Khang, and Ouwyang Ping to the place. They saw that Kui Fang was with Meng Huan.

“Meng Huan,” call Sen Khang. “There is something we want to talk about.”

“What's up?” ask Meng Huan. His smile froze seeing the expressions of the three friends looking solemn like that. “Something's wrong?”

“This is about the attack first it.”

The three sat around the stone table. Chien Wan sat to the right of Kui Fang, while to the left of Kui Fang sat Ouwyang Ping. Kui Fang was a bit awkward. He just found out about their past. Now he felt like a bully fly between them.

Chien Wan turned her face to look at the girl. He smiled at her with an apologetic look as he had ignored her for the past few days. Actually he did not intend to ignore Kui Fang, but Sen Khang insisted this conversation could only be done without Meng Huan. If Kui Fang came along too, Meng Huan would feel isolated. Kui Fang smiled back, stating that he was fine.

“What's with that problem?” asked Meng Huan beware. “You've found out who did it?”

“Instead it. There is a little difficulty.”

“What difficulty?”

“Regarding the number of people who attacked Wisma Bambu. Whether the killer was acting alone or in a troupe,” Sen Khang said.

Meng Huan frowned, recalling. “At that time I was training in the training room. I was alone at the time. Teacher is with Aunt in the library. Master said he would catch up with me, but I waited a long time for him not to show up too. Then I came out of the training room.

“That's when I saw Chien Wan—I mean the impostor!” he added quickly to see Sen Khang grinning. “I greeted him, but he attacked me instead. I remember, he used a sword. I should have remembered that Chien Wan could not use a sword. But I didn't think at all at that time. He's very shrewd. I can't match him. I fled to the front room and saw that Master and Aunt were dead. I panicked and tried to escape. He kept chasing me.

“I kept running until the Bamboo Forest. Uncle Sung came and helped me. He told me to run for help. I'm leaving too. But I could never get out of the Bamboo Forest. Some people were pacing around in the forest and blocking the exit!”

“Means the killer is not alone!” yang Ouwyang Ping.

“Why did you tell me now?” ask Sen Khang.

“I'm sorry. My mind was so fucked up. Plus looking at Ting Ting's condition. Detail of the incident was completely inevitable from me,” said Meng Huan shyly.

“Already. It was not intentional,” Chien Wan said.

“Now it is clear. The killer is not alone.”

“What did you guys find?” asked Meng Huan enthusiastically.

Sen Khang shook his head. “Only a few small instructions. Not important,” elangkah.

Ouwyang Ping got up. “I go first, want to see Ting Ting.”

“I'm coming.” Sen Khang stood up.

Chien Wan stood up. “Kui Fang, would you like to come too?”

Kui Fang shook his head in a doldrums. “I'm going to the room, Sister Wan. I don't feel well,” refused.

Chien Wan was shocked. “Why? You sick?” tanyanya. His anxiety did not escape the sight of Sen Khang and Ouwyang Ping.

Kui Fang shook his head. “I go first, yes.”

Restlessly, Chien Wan's gaze continued to follow Kui Fang's departure. He wondered what was wrong with the girl. Why did the girl seem so lethargic and not as passionate as usual?
