Ouwyang Ping left the Bamboo Guesthouse with a raging mind. As he told Sen Khang, he had thought for a long time. The more he thought, the more he felt Chien Wan was innocent. He knew Chien Wan and his brother was not that kind of person.
Chien Wan's presence there in the most suspicious position was an accidental occurrence. Chien Wan just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. That's sure! Chien Wan must have been just a victim of unthinkable suspicion.
But....
With confidence, Ting Ting pointed to Chien Wan as the perpetrator of the rape over her. She would not have believed Ting Ting's words had she not seen that Ting Ting was actually raped. It wasn't a charade to frame Chien Wan.
Ouwyang Ping closed his eyes and twisted his brain, recalling all those events. Something came to his mind. He had seen the condition of all the corpses of the victims of the abomination. All were wounded by sharp weapons; otherwise the sword would have been a knife or a machete. Chien Wan never used a sharp weapon!
Ouwyang Ping's mind was clear at once. Chien Wan could never use a sword. He hates sharp weapons! He wants to practice silat only if the silat is related to the flute or empty hand. How could he kill with a sword?
Obviously already! Chien Wan is innocent!
But....
Ouwyang Ping returned listless.
Sen Khang trusted his own vision. And Chien Wan's position back then was indeed suspicious. It won't be that easy for people to listen to his explanation. Especially Sen Khang. It is his family who is the victim. Anger clouded his senses. It was impossible for him to convey the results of his current contemplation. Sen Khang would not listen to him.
All he had to do was find Chien Wan. He wanted to listen to that explanation straight from Chien Wan's mouth. This time he would not cut off Chien Wan's words in the slightest. He will listen to all his brother's explanations.
And if possible, they will both look for evidence that could show that Chien Wan is innocent and he is just a victim of slander. And if Chien Wan is indeed slandered, they will try to get anyone who does so to learn a lesson.
She was unsure about the rape Ting Ting had experienced. Deep down, he still suspected that Chien Wan did. Yet he clearly did not kill all the members of the Bamboo Guesthouse!
***
In just ten days, the atmosphere in Wisma Bambu already resembled an uninhabited old house. Circumstances that used to be so neat and cheerful, now dull and messy because there is no caring. The fallen bamboo leaves were scattered here and there. If there was always someone who swiftly swept it, now left alone. The bamboo trees were no longer taken care of, left wild.
Sen Khang no longer cares about the management of his residence. He was not interested in finding workers in the village to clean up his residence. He always locked himself in the library room— where his father could work.
In addition to not having the desire to take care of Wisma Bambu, he also never tried to comfort his sister. Every time he tried, his tongue went out. He could not say a word to comfort Ting Ting.
Every time he saw Ting Ting, he remembered Chien Wan's face.
Sen Khang set himself on the library floor with a grievous heart. The smoldering anger in the chest changed with unstoppable pain. He was barely able to accept all of this.
Buk up! His fist pounded the floor until the stone floor was curved and cracked.
“And you're my best friend!” his his frown was mixed with grief. “How dare you do all this to me! You're ruthless!”
All day long he cursed Chien Wan. Hatred and pain blinded his heart. He does not care about the Bamboo Guesthouse needs to be taken care of. He doesn't care if his sister needs to be reassured and supported.
It was fortunate that Meng Huan acted. He could not allow all this to continue, so he took over the responsibility of Sen Khang. He was looking for some people in the village who wanted to work to replace the servants who died on that fateful day. He divided up the duties to the new servants, gave proper instructions, watched their work closely.
Alongside all of that busyness, Meng Huan also always kept Ting Ting closely. She had always been watching Ting Ting because the girl had always intended to kill herself.
The first time the suicide attempt was carried out, Ting Ting was inside the room. He hung a white scarf on the ceiling and prepared to hang himself. It was fortunate that a servant passed by and shouted in panic making Meng Huan come.
The suicide attempt failed and Meng Huan reprimanded Ting Ting Ting seriously.
Meng Huan thought after the first failure, Ting Ting wouldn't try again. But he is mistaken.
As the kitchen maid caught her guard, Ting Ting stole a kitchen knife and brought it into the room. He meant to slit his wrist.
Just as Ting Ting was about to slice her wrist, enter Meng Huan deliver soup for her dinner.
“Ting Ting!” meng Huan was shocked. He threw the tray he was carrying and quickly ran over.
Ting Ting did not care about Meng Huan's presence. He pressed a sharp knife into his wrist. Meng Huan stormed over and snatched the knife just as the blade had already injured Ting Ting's skin. Fortunately, only his outer skin was injured.
“Let me die! Let me die!” ting Ting screamed as he tried to reclaim the knife.
“Yes Lord!” meng Huan complained poignantly. “Conscious, Ting Ting! Don't act this stupid. Don't!”
“Let... let me just die..,” isak Ting Ting weakened. He cried as hard as he could in Meng Huan's arms.
This incident was seen by Sen Khang who intended to see his sister. He was devastated to see his desperate sister. But he can't do anything. He could not comfort his sister.
The following days, Meng Huan always kept an eye on Ting Ting. He was afraid that the girl would do it again.
This surveillance was indeed necessary as Ting Ting attempted suicide a few more times. Not just a knife or a cloth. He tried by drinking poison, banging his head against the wall, and much more. His soul was so shaken that any words and advice could not be heard.
Finally Meng Huan was tired of facing all that. She spoke seriously and reprimanded Ting Ting.
“Ting Ting, why are you this shortsighted? you think by suicide, your parents will be happy? Your parents want us to take their revenge. We have to kill Chien Wan! we must take revenge so that their spirits can be calm in nature!” said Meng Huan sharply.
Ting Ting sobbed. “But... I'm dirty. Life is of no use to me anymore.”.
“You don't have such a narrow mind! Who said you were dirty?” meng Huan Tuas.
“And I love Sister Wan very much.... Why did he kill Mom and Dad? Why would he hurt me? Why?” ting Ting's cries were full of disappointment.
“Ah, Ting Ting...,” complains Meng Huan sadly. “Until now you are still glued to Chien Wan?”
Ting Ting was stunned.
“No! No!” scorching. “I hate him! I hate him!”
“Ting Ting...”.
“I hate him!” peek Ting Ting's.
“Ting Ting, stop!” Meng Huan clutched Ting Ting affectionately.
“I hate him...” Ting Ting's voice faltered.
“Already...,” entertain Meng Huan. “There's still me, Ting Ting. There's still me here. Don't be sad anymore..,” whispers gently.
Ting Ting was surprised. He released himself from Meng Huan's embrace. “A... what?”
Meng Huan closed her eyes. “I know... out of place I said this, but...” He sighed. “I've harbored feelings for you for a long time and I'm sure you've known for a long time. I did not dare to be frank because all this time you loved Chien Wan. I wish you could be with Chien Wan and see you happy with her. That's enough for me. But now..”.
“Kakak Huan! Don't mention her name again. I hate him!” cut Ting Ting fiercely.
Meng Huan nodded.
“Ya, okay. You hate her. And since you hate him, it means that you are not expecting him anymore,” Meng Huan said softly. “Therefore...” He was silent for a moment. “Therefore, may I be by your side? I will always protect you. I will always take care of you.”
Ting Ting was stunned to hear Meng Huan's sincere voice. It seemed that Meng Huan was so earnestly loving her. Long ago, Meng Huan loved him. He is blind. But now she was no longer the old Ting Ting. He is no longer holy.
“I'm no longer a girl, Brother Huan..,” muttered Ting Ting poof.
Meng Huan clasped Ting Ting's hands tightly. “I have absolutely no problem with that,” the bell.
“I'm the one who's got it in trouble!” tuk Ting Ting.
Meng Huan let out a long breath. “Alright, forget my words. But remember, Ting Ting. When you feel hopeless and need someone to comfort you, there's still me. There are still people who love and want to extend their hands for you,” he said with feelings.
Ting Ting could feel the young man's affection. How lofty is Meng Huan's soul! How sincere and pure is Meng Huan's heart! Ting Ting Ting cried from being so moved.
He is currently injured. But one day, as he recovered, he would always remember the tenderness that Meng Huan had poured out for him. And perhaps when that time came, he could open his heart to Meng Huan. Hopefully by then Meng Huan was still waiting for him.
