Death Flute

Death Flute
The Back Garden Pavilion

Thanks to the treatment provided by the residents of the Bamboo House, Chien Wan's condition gradually improved. He started working in the kitchen. Chien Wan's job is to split firewood and transport it to the kitchen. Chien Wan does his job well. It seems that he is used to working hard.

Chien Wan is a quiet child, not much to say. But he was diligent and always did his job well. The other waiters liked it.

Sen Khang and Ting Ting were kind to her. Sen Khang always invited him to practice together. Chien Wan never refused Sen Khang's invitation, but he never practiced. He just looked. He knows himself enough. He realized that he was neither a member of the family nor a disciple of Mr. Luo, but just a servant.

“Chien Wan, see my moves!” exclaimed Sen Khang, showing off the new style taught by his father.

Chien Wan did not reply. He did see the movements of the Sen Khang silat, but he did not pay attention to it. His mind floated on the events of his mother's death.

At that time his mother lay sick with a very high fever while they did not have money to buy medicine.

“My son.. this was given by your biological father...” sighed his mother in a weak voice while holding out a necklace with a hong bird-carved leaflet. His hands were shaking violently.

Chien Wan was stunned. “A... biological father?”

“Be...right, Son. I was looking for wood on the edge of the Bamboo Forest. I saw a man lying almost dead. You're in his arms, you're weak. I tried to help, but he was almost dead. I took you out of his hand. He also gave me the leontin you were wearing. He said it was a gift from your father. Then he. said Wisma Bambu. After that he died.”

Chien Wan.

“Sorry, I didn't tell you this from a long time ago, son.” Tears melted on the old woman's cheeks. “I'm afraid you left me.”

“Mother...” Chien Wan's lips trembled withstanding the cries.

“My son, I am telling you all this now because I know. I don't want you to be a kara because I don't know your origin. I... do not want.. You are alone in this world...”.

Until here, Chien Wan's daydream was cut off because Sen Khang suddenly called him, “Chien Wan!”

Chien Wan was shocked. “Eh, yes?”

Sen Khang approached while grumbling. “You're how the hell? I told you to look even daydream!”

“Sorry...,” Chien Wan said slowly.

Sen Khang sat beside Chien Wan while wiping his sweat. “What the hell is it? You look sad.”

Chien Wan shook her head. “Tak nothing,” answered. He's a closed child, not used to expressing his feelings.

Sen Khang was upset to see him because he himself was an open child, always straightforward, and could not hide anything. Since he first met Chien Wan, he always told Chien Wan about himself and his family. But Chien Wan had never told him anything at all.

“Kakak!” exclaim a childish melodious voice.

Sen Khang turned his head and smiled seeing his sister running around while carrying three red candied skewers.

“Ting Ting, what are you carrying?”

Ting Ting brandished the three candied skewers with beaming faces. “So Uncle A Fuk came home from the village market and brought this for us!” report excited. The little girl looks so funny.

“Waaah!” Sen Khang rubbed his hands happily. “Sweetness! It's been a long time we didn't eat it.”

Ting Ting handed the sweets to Sen Khang and Chien Wan one each. Sen Khang immediately tasted.

“Who's good!” yells.

“Hm... yes, good!” connect Ting Ting.

Chien Wan did not eat the sweetness, but just looked at it. Smelled by it the sweet fragrance was so fragrant.

Ting Ting looked in surprise. “Kak Wan, why is the sweetness not eaten?” tanyakanya.

Chien Wan smiled bitterly. “I can't feel anything. So it's useless if this sweet I eat,” he said lightly. Then she handed the sweets back to Ting Ting. “For Miss only.”

Ting Ting was stunned.

Sen Khang swallowed his saliva. He forgot Chien Wan's sense of taste did not work. He feels guilty.

Chien Wan stood up. “I go back first,” saying goodbye.

Sen Khang and Ting Ting looked at each other.

Chien Wan went to the back to draw water. He runs into an old man who is a senior servant at Wisma Bambu, Uncle Khung. Chien Wan pulled over to let Uncle Khung through. Uncle Khung gave him a quick glance, then walked past him.

* * *

The time is rolling and it has been two months Chien Wan lives there.

All this time, Master Luo secretly observed the child. All the movements of Chien Wan were noticed by him. From the outside Chien Wan looked weak. His body was rather thin and his facial skin was pale. His eyes looked glum and uninspired. But Master Luo knew, behind her frail appearance was hidden a determination and spirit of fading. Chien Wan is a hard-hearted and unyielding boy, two traits that warriors deserve.

Master Luo intended to raise him as a disciple.

Chien Wan had no idea of Mr. Luo's intentions. He has no interest in learning silat. He only wanted to continue living a peaceful life as a servant of the Luo Family.

One day, Chien Wan was about to deliver food to Sen Khang's room which was not healthy at the time. He took a detour through the back garden. From the kitchen to the room Sen Khang a little far if you have to pass the front, will be closer through the back garden.

He had never entered the back garden before, but this time he entered it. It's late and it's soon dinner. He didn't want Sen Khang starving to wait for him.

Suddenly his steps stopped to find a small pavilion inside the back garden. The pavilion was small, only about three times the size of Chien Wan's room. But for Chien Wan the pavilion was very beautiful, carved charming and equipped with fine silk curtains and waving in the night breeze. Everything is white. The graceful fragrance hit Chien Wan's keen sense of smell.

Chien Wan stared in admiration.

Just then, something flashed out from within the pavilion. A shadow was white like fog. Chien Wan was horrified and rushed off, but the figure blocked him.

Chien Wan is devastated. That figure was a woman in a white dress. The woman was so beautiful and graceful, her long hair unraveled to the hips without any decoration, and it was pitch-black. Her face was smooth and dazzling like the goddesses in the paintings in Mr. Luo's study. But alas, the pair of eyes that were actually very beautiful seemed frozen and there was no ray of life. The impression that was caused by him, was both terrifying as well as amazing!

Chien Wan gulped. “Sa... I'm Chien Wan, the new waiter.

“You were sent by him? How is he doing?” ask the woman in a soft voice.

“Who?” chien Wan asked confusedly.

“Road!!” Suddenly the woman screamed. “You are so happy! You left me for her. I love you so much!!!”

Chien Wan retreated. His chest was pounding, he was horrified to see the rays of madness on the woman.

The woman looked at Chien Wan sharply.

“You can't go!” snapped it. He reached out his hand to catch Chien Wan. Chien Wan threw a tray of food at the woman. The woman flicked her sleeves, then chased after Chien Wan who ran away with horror.

The woman almost managed to catch Chien Wan if only no one came to help.

“Sui She, stop!” hardik that person who turned out to be Mr. Luo.

The woman stopped her steps, then she fell down crying. Tears flowed through her pale white and marble face. “Kakak Kuan... Brother Kuan. You are so cruel to me! Brutal!” roaring.

Chien Wan looked pale. Knees trembling.

Mr. Luo immediately acted. He quickly approached the woman called Sui She and took her blood. Then, Mister Luo carefully leaned Sui She's body into the pavilion.

When Master Luo came out, he saw Chien Wan still standing dumbstruck in front of the pavilion. He approached Chien Wan with the intention of scolding her. But seeing how pale and shaken Chien Wan was, his anger subsided.

“Chien Wan, why did you enter this park? Didn't they tell you that no one can enter this park?” reprimand Master Luo seriously.

Chien Wan replied nervously, “Ma! I didn't mean to enter the park. I just cut off the road for fear Sen Khang was late for dinner..”.

Just then came Lady Luo, Sen Khang, and Ting Ting. But they only reached the garden door, not daring to step in. The park is completely off limits.

“My husband, what's wrong?” ask Madam Luo.

Mr. Luo did not reply. He only looked at Chien Wan seriously. “Other times you cannot enter here.”

“Ya, Mr.”

Master Luo sighed. “Good. Let's go outside,” take her while holding Chien Wan's shoulder. He felt the boy's shoulder tremble. A feeling of compassion enveloped his heart.

Madam Luo looked at Chien Wan's pale face. He worries. “Chien Wan, are you okay?” tanyakanya.

Chien Wan shook her head. “I'm fine, Mistress.”

“Let's just go inside,” Mr Luo. Then he looked at Sen Khang. “Sen Khang, you're sick. Why come out?” reproofing.

“I heard screams, Father,” Sen Khang said in self-defense.

Chien Wan felt guilty. Because of the carelessness everyone gets bothered. He lowered.

They all entered the house and headed for the living room. A waiter brought food and drinks for Sen Khang who had not eaten.

“You've eaten, Chien Wan?” ask Madam Luo.

Chien Wan nodded. He has not had dinner yet.

“This is a warning to all of you. The park is off limits to anyone. Only me and a trusted servant are allowed to enter it,” Mr Luo said firmly. Then he looked at Chien Wan. “You're new here so maybe you don't know the ban yet. Know it, Chien Wan. The woman in the garden is my sister, her name is Luo Sui She. He suffered from mental illness for years. He can hurt people, so I put him in the back garden.”

“Dad, something surprised me,” sela Sen Khang.

“What is it?”

“The back garden is never locked. Why didn't Aunt Sui She run away? Wasn't he unconscious of himself? How come he just calmed down there and just attacked the guy who went in there?” ask Sen Khang.

Master Luo sighed. “The back garden has been Sui She's favorite place since childhood. He himself put himself there and never tried to leave. I myself also do not know why.” He clenched his hands together furiously. “This is all because of the Nada Valley people!”

“Tone Valley?” tanya Ting plain. “What place is it?”

Chien Wan was also curious. For some reason, hearing that name made her heart move.

“Nothing!” sergeant Master Luo was fierce, making his daughter immediately take refuge in his mother's embrace.

“Already,” interrupted Mrs Luo gently. “It doesn't matter. Importantly, you must not forbid that abstinence. Understand?”

The three boys nodded.

Master Luo looked back at Chien Wan. “There's something I want to ask you, Chien Wan.”

Chien Wan's heart was pounding. Will I be expelled from this place? thought agitated. He was really scared if it happened.

“Do you want to learn silat?”

Chien Wan was stunned. The question was not at all what he thought. For a long moment, he was only able to gape at Master Luo. The looks of it at that moment looked utterly foolish, making Master Luo smile amusedly.

“Hei, Chien Wan!” sen Khang laughed. “Jawab my father's question, don't just be so dumb!”

“Eh, yes Mr.” Chien Wan finally nodded.

“Good!” mister Luo's nod was satisfied.

Seriate.
