Mahram To Azira

Mahram To Azira
Chapters 4.6

After breakfast, Azira stays in the dining room to help Umi clean the dining table. He's not alone here because Kenzie's helping out too. Abah and Umi saw the closeness of the two of them but did not comment anything. Abah just watched in silence from the next room while Umi kept silent to help clean the dining table. Honestly Azira and Kenzie were the ones who helped. Umi never asked the two of them for help.

"Umi, let me take her to the kitchen." Azira walked up to Umi.

Umi was just about to lift up a bunch of dirty dishes on the table and was about to bring them into the kitchen.

Azira reached out her hand sliding the pile of dishes but was immediately stopped by Kenzie. Azira surprise. He looked at Kenzie hesitantly not daring to guess his thoughts.

"Help Umi wipe the table. These plates let me take them to the kitchen." Kenzie said softly to Azira.

If Azira had never faced Kenzie's cold and indifferent attitude directly to him, then perhaps he would have been fooled by the gentleness that Kenzie had shown him just now. The way Kenzie spoke and his soft tone of voice seemed to give Azira an illusion that they were a couple who loved each other.

"Ah.yep, mas." Azira took a few steps back to the side.

Kenzie smiled gently. His large hand was raised above Azira's head. Seeing Kenzie's hand held high, Azira shut her eyes in fear. A second later, his eyes faded in shock at seeing Kenzie as strange as well as astonished. He thought Kenzie would hurt him but instead, Kenzie rubbed the top of his head.

Swiping softly.

"Don't let Umi get too tired." Kenzie said in a gentle tone to his wife.

Azira suddenly felt her cheeks rather hot and strangely, there was a sense of shame that emerged from within her heart.

His body's reaction became more and more untrue as he felt the heartbeat in his chest beating too fast and abnormally.

Come Azira, calm yourself. Don't be fooled by Kenzie's kindness. Because he did it on purpose to humiliate you. Inner Azira reminded himself not to fall asleep.

"Yes, my mom." Azira accidentally runs to Umi's side so that Kenzie doesn't touch her head again.

Seeing his wife's rejection, Kenzie couldn't help but smile at the satisfaction on his lips.

Kenzie doesn't keep bothering his wife anymore. He took a pile of dirty dishes on the table and brought them into the kitchen.

Azira lowered her head pretending not to see Kenzie's departure. In fact, all this time he was secretly peering at Kenzie's back from the corner of his eye.

Meanwhile Umi looked at her son's back with a strange look. Umi feels that Kenzie today looks much more active than usual. The changes that Umi saw in this very short time, Umi can feel if Kenzie's emotions are not as flat as before. This is good news, Umi is happy to see it. It's just that when Umi turns her eyes to see Azira, there is a feeling of unwillingness to know if the change of her son is influenced by Azira.

Umi felt that everything was not right.

"You..have known Kenzie for a long time?" Umi suddenly asked.

Azira surprise. He spontaneously raised his head to look at Umi. Maybe because Umi is a foreigner who is involved in being a victim in this revenge event, Azira felt very embarrassed and a bit low in front of him.

"We didn't know each other before, Umi." Azira replied calmly.

Umi frowned, "If you didn't know each other before, then why would Kenzie be able to say your name when Ijab kabul?" Tanya Umi did not understand as well as felt relieved.

He was relieved that Kenzie's change may have nothing to do with Azira. A foreign woman who is not known exactly where she came from. Logically, if the Humairah family refuses to know Azira, then it makes no sense for them as the Kenzie family to accept his presence.

But isn't it too late now?

"That's..." Azira was worried about what to say.

"Eye."

Just as Azira was feeling cornered, Abah suddenly called out from the next room.

"Yes, Bah?" Umi from the dining room.

"Please get Abah wood oil in the room. Abah's leg pain's coming back, Umi."

Umi's so confused,"Kok suddenly relapsed? Even though last night was it in the same massage as Umi?" Mumbled Umi talking to herself.

"Yes, Bah. Umi take it to the room first, yeah." Umi then went to the room to get Abah's wood oil.

Seeing Umi's attention diverted, Azira let out a sigh of relief. He is grateful that Abah's leg pain suddenly relapsed and saved him from the question of killing Umi. If not, I don't know what answer he will say to Umi earlier.

Afraid of Umi coming back again, Azira immediately sped up her hand cleaning the table. Once clean, he immediately fled to the kitchen and met again with Kenzie.

Azira stood hesitantly in front of the kitchen entrance. He saw Kenzie was busy washing dishes in the sink. The work that a woman should be doing at this point Kenzie is working on quickly and cleanly without being awkward, as if Kenzie was used to doing it.

"Please bring all the clean dishes to the dish rack." Kenzie's flat voice instantly disperse Azira's daydream.

Without a sound, Azira immediately came to Kenzie. Standing beside him, he then reached out his hand to take the already clean plate and bring it to the shelf to dry. They work in silence without any noticeable interaction. One cleaned the dirty cutlery while the other put the clean cutlery onto the shelf to dry.

They did this until 15 minutes later, the work was finally done.

"Go to the room first. I'll catch up with you later." Kenzie said before going out of the kitchen.

His indifferent attitude was inversely proportional when he was in front of Umi.

Azira's face immediately pouted. While bowing her head wiping her wet hands, Azira secretly thought that if Humairah were in her current position, would Kenzie still be able to be gentle?

Smiling wryly, he then shook his head expelling questions he should not have asked. The answer can also be guessed by him.

...***...

Azira P's. O. V

I went upstairs after I finished working in the kitchen. While passing through the middle room earlier, I had time to listen to Sasa and Umi talk about Humairah. Too bad I couldn't eavesdrop on their conversation because both Sasa and Umi must have been aware of my presence back then.

Huh, Humairah. How's it going now?

I really want to hear it. Then Safa's aunt and the rest of Dad's family, I hope they will be tormented by the hatred they feel for me.

Just enjoy. I suffered as much as I did and Mom at the time. Because that way I can at least feel how fair the world is after so long suffering injustice.
