Mahram To Azira

Mahram To Azira
Chapters 5.4

A day passed in the atmosphere of a house that was still not alive. Azira spends time resting in the room, while Kenzie just stares at the documents at the workbench without getting bored. While Abah sat relaxing in the backyard, watching the sky slowly change color from bright blue to cloudy orange as time passed. As for Umi and Sasa, they both went to the room of an aunt who lived in the same complex as the two of them.

The house became quiet. As if there was no life in it.

Azira looked at the sky outside which was slowly changing color. Then looked towards her husband who was still sitting staring at the documents at the work desk. Already several hours passed, her husband only got up from his seat when prayer time came in. Other than that, he focused on staring at the documents tirelessly and quietly remained silent.

Secretly, Azira must admit that Kenzie's charisma as a man is indeed extraordinary. Any woman, including herself, would have the illusion of being very warm if she could live with him. And now Azira felt it.

Her husband was indeed not being gentle with her as he was merely a substitute here. The love and affection of her husband is only in a Humairah. However, Azira was grateful that although she could not be gentle, her husband did not treat her harshly.

He shook his head, rubbing his face so as not to think too much while regulating his mood. A few seconds later he removed the blanket that had warmed his body, then got off the bed and walked slowly towards the door. The steps are very light and take care not to cause any noise that may interfere with Kenzie's concentration of work.

Carefully pulled the door handle of the room.

"Where are you going?" An indifferent voice Kenzie asked.

Azira spontaneously straightened her back and turned rigidly towards Kenzie.

"I.want to drink water, mas." Azira said in reply.

Kenzie's flat face glanced at the empty glass above the nightstand.

"Hurry over."

"Yes." Yeah." Azira breathed a sigh of relief.

He opened the door and closed it carefully after making it out.

Doubtful, his feet stepped doubtfully forward. His black eyes watched this house awkwardly. There was fear and curiosity mixed within his chest. He was born of the poor, had no possession, and was accustomed to lack of many things. Just like the reactions of other poor people, he will also be stunned and amazed to see everything that has never been seen before in this life.

Even his eyes never stopped shining as he went down the stairs while heading to the first floor. He had never seen a ladder in his life. This house is not as grand as his father's, and arguably quite simple. But for some reason that Azira could not explain, she felt that this house was much warmer. The place is very spacious, but decorated simply like a regular house in general. There are no expensive jars, family heirlooms, or antiques that should not be touched. The house is much cleaner than Azira had ever seen.

"Non Azira is better?"

"Yes, sir. I'm better." Azira replied awkwardly.

He was not used to the friendly attitude of others.

"Thank God. I'm glad to hear it. Then excuse me for going forward, non." He then politely responded.

Azira nodded awkwardly while watching her old back leave. After the man left, he then proceeded to the kitchen to fetch some drinking water.

"Azira?"

Azira was surprised and almost fell on the glass in her hand. But fortunately he could take it back, otherwise he would add more trouble to himself.

"A... Abah." Azira looked down awkwardly.

Abah is the most silent and indifferent person in this house. Ever since he entered the house, Abah never said a word to him. So, Azira does not know what Abah's attitude to him is because he has never interacted directly.

"Don't drink standing up. Get used to drinking while sitting, this is better for health." Abah advised him.

Azira stunned. After being reminded by Abah, he hurriedly sat down on the chair while tightly holding his glass. His sharp eyeballs moved nimbly following wherever Abah moved.

"Yes, Abah. Thanks for reminding me."

Abah went into the kitchen to pick up a glass from the shelf and spilled hot coffee from the electric kettle. His warm steam danced in front of Abah's old face.

"Let's go with Abah to the back garden." Abah said, bringing his coffee out of the kitchen.

Azira was stunned by Abah's sudden invitation. For a few seconds, Azira's brain was slow to process Abah's words until her old back slowly disappeared from view. Azira spontaneously stood up and put the empty glass on the table before taking her footsteps after Abah.

"Change, wait." He shouted while accelerating his pace.
