Third Floor Academy Dormitory

Long and slow calls always accompany long nights of Dusk. The cry seemed to be a sleeping melody that he could not even lose in his dreams.

Even though Dusk wanted to stop the call but he could not. Every time Dusk tried to close his lips, each of them also the temperature of the room became more and more hot.

"That's enough. I can't even sleep well because of your breath. Now...., let's stop while I'm still being nice."

Dusk was silent for a moment so that there was a pause in his sentence. He deliberately did so while sharpening his eyes at Khalid who was currently looking confused.

"If not, then I will send you to Sera." continued Dusk firmly.

"Sorry Lady, I'm worrying you."

"No, don't misunderstand me. I'm not worried about you at all, I just feel sorry for my ears." lamented Dusk with a thin frown on his forehead.

"At first I let Khalid do that to ease the burden on his shoulders but this has gone too far. I don't know why he seems to enjoy it so much and it's upsetting."

"Lady, you're so outrageous!" chanted Khalid with tightly closed eyes.

"Yes yes, it's up to you. I don't care, but..."

Dusk violently pulled Khalid's chin and immediately stared at his golden iris. Dusk looked very upset while Khalid looked so nervous.

"Cry as much as you, don't be arrested again. Besides I don't want to see you like this either." whispered Dusk right in Khalid's ear.

"..."

"I'll go and when I come back I don't want to hear your long breath." continued Dusk before releasing his hand from Khalid's face.

"Because it's so annoying to be heard by my sweet ears." continued Dusk back in his heart.

"Well," said Khalid slowly.

Dusk, satisfied with Khalid's reaction, took his backpack and left the room. While Khalid who was left alone can only take a deep breath for your umpteenth.

"Lady, I'm only worried about you but your reaction is really disappointing." - Khalid grumbled as he watched Dusk run towards the magic building from behind the bedroom window.

Honestly, Khalid was still afraid when he remembered the moment where he met the figure. But that does not mean that it will continue to linger in sadness.

The reason why Khalid continued to sigh long was Dusk. Khalid had an intuition that the figure would one day somehow connect with Dusk.

Khalid could not explain the reason behind his intuition it was just that he was sure that in the future his lady would be involved in things that were very dangerous and could be life threatening.

Khalid did not want his lady to die in vain, although the elementals could make another contract if her master died but it was not an easy thing to do.

The state of the elementals was very different from that of the saint beasts. Where the elementals would only go crazy if the master died and the madness would stop if they entered into a contract with the other party.

Unfortunately if the elementals had gone crazy they would be very difficult to bond with anything. They were even more dangerous than monsters, and the chances of them realizing were zero.

"I might have experienced something tragic when that madness happened, then it would have been better if I had died before my master." khalid muttered as he recalled the elemental figure that turned into a monster a second later when his master was gone.

The elemental time lag went crazy just one second after the death of the master, the possibility of surviving the situation was extremely difficult. Even if they can survive it on the condition that there is another substitute on their side before the contract ends.

"But the probability of that happening is very small. I might just go crazy before another contract is established. And being crazy is more horrible than dying."

Khalid was angry and confused, he wanted to say everything but strangely not all of those words he could express out loud.

In a fit of annoyance Khalid chose to leave the room. He did not want to get dissolved in anxiety and instead made his lady become upset like that.

"I'll go visit him."

The atmosphere of the class became so tense as Prof Deru announced the method of the exam. Because the method offered by Prof Deru is field practice. Where this method requires students to practice the method directly in real terms.

Usually the students who take the exam will use holograms for the practice exam. But this time they had to use physical objects to be able to pass the exam.

"My intuition is not wrong, there is something strange with Prof Deru." muttered Dusk while remembering the incident a moment ago.

Just then when Dusk had just arrived at the classroom, he saw a strange announced on the board. Announcement to state that there are no theory exams in basic defense engineering lessons.

The students who are in the class are required to immediately go to the combat field to take the practice exam. Of course the students were very happy, but unfortunately the fun did not last long.

When they had just arrived on the battlefield, they had already been presented with such an astonishing new announcement, even Dusk was unable to close the unease on his face upon seeing the announcement.

Of course as Dusk predicted earlier, he saw many students protesting about the method. They'd rather take a theory test than lose it and get worse.

But not Prof Deru his name if he can not make the student deterred. With one breath, Prof Deru disqualified the students who protested his policy earlier.

He casually crossed out their names and had the guard staff expel them from the field. Just then Dusk could clearly see the strange smile on the corner of Prof Deru's lips.

"Does he want revenge? That's a friend."

Dusk knew how upset Prof Deru was when not a single student cared about his subjects. But Dusk does not know if the disappointment of Prof Deru will be much worse than the killer teacher though.

Prof Deru casually issued various strange rules to make his students give up. He does not want to graduate students who he feels are unworthy and certainly do not care about his lessons.

"What are you waiting for?" ask Prof Deru to the remaining students.

"You've only got five minutes to make a shield. If it fails then you will be expelled without being able to follow the next session."

Hearing these words made the students stiffen. They hurriedly approached the table filled with chicken eggs.

"Take one." exclaimed the guard staff standing beside the table.

After all the students got their eggs, Prof Deru casually explained the next rule. Honestly, the rules are very simple where students have to make a protective shield on the egg so that the egg does not break.

"Simple is simple but channeling mana to the egg will make the egg break instantly." some students grumbled at the failure of other students.

"Even if we give a little flow of mana, the egg will break a second later when it enters the shell."

"It's a little strange, this egg shell is so thin that even a small pressure has destroyed it."

Dusk was a little confused as to what to act like. Some of the students taking this exam are dead. Most of them immediately fail when first channeling mana to the egg.

The rest are waiting to see the next victim. For Dusk this is not at all entertaining. He was very upset and wanted to curse Prof Deru and hit him hard on the head.

Fortunately, Dusk managed to hold back his desire. He tries to relax and calm down so that he can think critically about this problem.

"When you're two minutes away" exclaimed Prof Deru.

"Huh, shit. If it continues like this I will fail the test." murmured Dusk annoyed.

"I can't make a shield on an egg because the shell is very fragile" continued Dusk while weighing the weight of the egg.

"Shell.., uhm shell...!"

Dusk continued to mumble about eggshells until finally he remembered about one of the animals on earth that had a shell so hard.

The main function of the shell is to protect its contents or core in the animal. If the shell is weak then the core will be easily destroyed and broken.

"To be able to protect the core then the shell must be strong but what if the shell is not even stronger than the dust then we just make the new one." murmured Dusk with sparkling eyes.

"The point of the test session is to make a shield on the egg but never ask to make a shield on the egg shell. It means that what needs to be protected isn't the shell."

With that new understanding Dusk decided to drain a little of his ice energy into the egg. He tried to find the entrance gap in order to protect the egg nucleus.

"This is the same as the method given by Lucas to make a ball where, the difference if it's using a ball with this one using eggs."

Slowly Dusk began to drain his ice energy when the gap he had found. Nimble twilight makes the egg core becomes frozen with its ice element.

After the process Dusk switches on the inside of the shell. There Dusk slowly channeled its wind energy to cover the gap so that air could not enter the egg core.

Slowly but surely a small shield began to appear inside the inner shell. After the wind shield was activated, now Dusk stayed to make an outer shield from the rune patterns he had learned in class.

With one breath Dusk carves a rune pattern on the outer shell of the egg. Of course Dusk did not give special pressure so that his classmates did not find the traces he left behind.

"It takes 30 seconds to make a rune engraving on the shell, but this is enough." murmured Dusk as he saw Prof Deru about to raise his right hand.

"Stop it" exclaimed Prof Deru who made the faces of some of the students pale.

"The time is up, now show me your shield" he continued with a slightly raised corner of his lips.

One by one, the students began to show their magic shields. Of the remaining 20 students, only 10 managed to make a shield while the rest failed due to broken eggs.

"Good, quite unique." cried Prof Deru when he saw Ronald's unique shield.

Some of the students who failed were envious when they saw Prof Deru praise Ronald's unique shield. While some of them look indifferent to it.

"Very good but it's a pity that he was so closed." said Amir who was beside Dusk.

"Do you know him?" tanya Dusk curious.

Honestly, Dusk had known Ronald since he invited him to speak during practice class at that time. Just like Amir, Ronald also has a shy and reserved nature.

"We were friends but not anymore."

"Why?"

"Ah it's a secret, I can't tell you. Sorry."

"You don't have to apologize, there's nothing wrong with that."

"Alright, you're right too."

"But Dusk," call Amir when Dusk is about to go see the second session rule.

"What's wrong?" ask Dusk when he sees Amir's strange behavior.

"I, I can't take it anymore. I don't know who to tell this to, but I'm sure you can keep it tight." said Amir, wiping away tears on his cheeks.

"What's wrong with her?" the Dusk is confused.

honestly, Dusk wanted to end this conversation quickly. It was not because he hated Amir, but because the break was only 10 minutes away.

Not only that but currently the second session rules have been announced on the notice board. Dusk must see the rule if it does not want to fail in the second session.

"Let me hear first," murmured Dusk when he saw Amir's eyes begin to glaze over.

"Me, I'm actually afraid that our closeness will get you in the bully. I'm afraid they'll do the same to me for you." continued Amir with a restrained sobbing.

"Wait for Amir, what do you really want to say? I don't understand at all."

"That, that... Honestly this..."

Amir softly whispered in the ear of Dusk, he looked so nervous. Dusk who realized this could only lightly pat Amir's shoulder to calm him down.

"Me and Ronald were honestly close friends, but that all changed when Alisa came along. Alisa is so evil, she is Ronald's fiancee but she doesn't love him." cried Amir quietly as if he was afraid that anyone would hear his words.

"Alisa viciously likes me, she doesn't even hesitate to herd evil opinions to make the women who approach me run away. He is so obsessed and crazy." continued Amir with a sad face that is difficult to define.

"Ronald, hick... Ronald, who knew Alisa's actions, was silent. He didn't even care about me and chose to leave me." wailing Amir in the midst of his cries.

Dusk was a little confused, he did not know what to react to. Honestly, he did not expect that Amir would say it all.

Initially Dusk thought that Amir would keep this a secret and would talk about it until their relationship could be said to be close enough to open up to each other.

"That amir.., uhm let's talk about it later." exclaimed Dusk before going to the notice board.

Dusk deliberately moved away from Amir because his classmates started talking about them when they saw Amir's face reddened by crying.

Dusk did not want to have any additional gossip about himself and Amir. He is also quite dizzy about Khalid's problem and now he has to deal with Amir's problem, thinking that alone is enough to drive him crazy.

"I don't want to know about it, not honestly I don't care at all. It's none of my business and I don't like to interfere with other people's romance."
