Astral Pet Store – Chapter 99

Su Ping sat behind the counter to practice his skills while waiting for more customers. Or in other words, more battery energy points.

The store was far from the crowd, but he could still see that his “propaganda” was a success. Every now and then, some students of Phoenix Peak Academy would come to visit and occasionally purchase services.

Thanks to all the orders he had piled up, he finally realized that there was a limit to how many pens he could have in the store. According to the system, the store is currently at level 1, which is allowed to accommodate a total of 25 nursing homes.

Bringing the store to the next level will increase the upper limit to 50, as well as updating “” system store, which may allow him to buy better goods and services.

The level-2 store also comes with two important functions: Nursing Room and Dummy Trainer.

The Care Room allows him to keep the customer's pet inside, instead of occupying the available grooming enclosure, if the customer does not come to pick up their pet on time. Previously, he had to keep neglected pets in a grooming cage because the system would not allow him to dispose of them randomly here and there. However, with the Care Room, he could throw a pet that did not need to receive any more service inside and forget about it.

“Dummy Trainer” is a very useful function that allows him to command “klonnya” to train pets instead. These clones, or puppets, will carry some of their characters and skills, and can take training sessions in various fields of cultivation on their own. While waiting, Su Ping could give them more specific commands or let them start a regular practice.

At this rate, he couldn't possibly handle all the customers alone because the store was gaining more fame. This new function will solve a big problem.

But to level up the shop, he needed 10,000 energy points. He didn't have enough, even after all the next sale that day.

He's already filled 25 basic nursing homes. Fortunately, it was only 10 energy points each. As for the intermediate ones, each one was worth 1,000 energy points to maintain. To follow the higher price, the intermediate pen also has the feeding efficiency of “x100”. Random pets that stay inside for 24 hours can get a visible increase in strength.

A pet can get stronger both by staying inside an energy-rich grooming cage and undergoing training. The latter required Su Ping personal effort and was clearly optimal. Also, training is the way to go if he wants to complete “special training mission.” Keeping pets in cages is not enough.

Before he could open more treatment cages, he would have to refuse some orders, although he could still earn some energy points by selling pet food since there was no limit to it.

He felt a headache when he saw nearly twenty pets waiting to be treated in the pet room.

During the day, he bought a cheap lunch box and closed the shop. He planned to train the first group of pets as quickly as possible so that he could receive more and earn enough energy points to level up the store. That would free up a lot of his time.

With some quick movement, he bought enough temporary pet contracts from the system, found four fire-type pets in the pet room, and used those contracts at once.

He felt his head getting heavier as he finished the contract. As a top third rank battle pet warrior, keeping seven pets under his control was almost at its limit.

Fortunately, dying several times in the field of cultivation contributed to his growth of spirit and endurance.

“Ugh, my head... That's all types of fire? Goody. I can train the four of them in one trip.”

He sat down and scrolled through the list of cultivation fields to look for one suitable for fire-type pets. In the end, he chose a place called “Stellar Shard #9527,” that would spend 5 energy points to enter. This seemed like a pretty good one among all the basic cultivation fields.

As before, a dimensional vortex appeared in the pet room and pulled it in.

“Home master has connected to Stellar Shard #9527.”

“Time limit: 24 hours.”

“Please start your exploration, and good luck.”

Su Ping eyes were still closed as he felt a stinging heat assaulting his skin. When he opened it, he saw flames and lava burning everywhere. He was standing on a floating rock in the middle of a lava pool. Its arrival caused the rock to sink a few inches dangerously, blowing up some giant bubbles of hot carbon dioxide.

Where the hell am I?

Su Ping searched around while trying to find a better foothold. He managed to see a higher scene ahead where there was less lava.

This type of fire is a popular choice among students, especially the proud ones, because all pets of this category know some striking movements, although it may not be very useful.

However, people do not often find wild fire-type pets, as these creatures tend to make a big fuss by burning things. Predators can easily detect them from a distance and kill them.

None of the four pets Su Ping had brought could fly, so they had to jump between the floating rocks. He was worried that some stones were not as strong as they seemed. Stomping on them might not be a good idea.

Men's. Without the Solar Bulwark, the air would be enough to roast me alive. Is there anything living around here at all?

That system told him that certain abandoned cultivation planes were uninhabitable. He could have tripped if he wasn't lucky.

“Hey, you four. Try jumping to the lava,” his orders on pets.

Pets looked at each other with frightened looks. Despite being fire-type, they actually could not survive in the lava. A powerful fire-based attack could still injure them, let alone the bright magma that looked at least a thousand Celsius of heat.

However, they could not defy Su Ping's orders with their pet contracts in effect.

As carefully as possible, they moved to the edge of the platform and grabbed with their claws below.

Hissing!

It smells like burning feathers.

Simultaneously, the creatures turned around and looked at Su Ping with watery eyes.

Su Ping did not care that they were injured, as pets trained in the field of cultivation could be revived many times.

He walked up to the pet, and without any warning, he kicked one of them — a Pyro Canine — off the edge.

“Ouch?? AHROOOOO—”
