Astral Pet Store – Chapter 221

Heavenly Pigs used to be third rank Astral Pets with adorable bodies that looked too pink to pose any threat. Staying inside the treatment cage helped him reach the fourth rank. Although such an increase did not help him avoid feeling frightened by the thought-destroying aura as he began to shout, it was as if he was taken to a slaughterhouse.

The presence of the Hell Dragon was enough to make a low rank pet faint. Not to mention there was something even more terrifying there.

“Oik!”

The pig's brain no longer works properly. His instincts urged him to escape.

“Ck.”

Su Ping unleashed the “Killing Intent” skill again through their temporary pet contract, making Celestial Pig stop in its tracks and run back as his beaded eyes glowed slightly red. Under the command of Su Ping, the pig charged into the battlefield with its small hooves,

However, the effects of the skill did not last long as the whip-like tentacles dug a one-meter deep wound on the floor right in front of the pig, almost cutting its nose.

“EE ee ee-“

The poor thing started shaking again. Then turn around and run away.

“Man, my skill failed so fast?” Su Ping watched him walk and complain, “That's the biggest coward I've trained so far.”

He had no choice but to use the skill again, once again forcing the pigs to turn around and fight. This time, he made sure to “refresh” his skill in time so that the pig did not wake up too quickly.

It worked, but it didn't contribute much when it came to fighting because the pig instantly turned into a slice of pork as soon as it got close enough to their enemy imitating his good old tactics, Su Ping forced the pig to die many times. This will not help them beat him, nor will it help the pigs learn new techniques. In doing so, Su Ping wanted to keep the pig under pressure to be killed so as to gain something new when faced with a desperate situation.

Both the Dark Dragon Hound and his Inferno Dragon learned to be ferocious and cautious at the same time from their “” death training. It has done wonders. This was why they could listen to his orders and face the Beast Kings and Goddesses without throwing them away. Well, most of the time.

Su Ping mainly focused his attention on his own pets during battle as it was more important to make them gain new experiences. As for Celestial Pig, his quest only required him to improve his aptitude on a small level; it was not something too difficult to accomplish.

Whooshing sound!

The Little Skeleton teleported around the monsters to search for its weak point.

Little Skeleton was mostly safe when the Dark Dragon Hound and Inferno Dragon kept the monsters' attention with their lives at stake. Moreover, it was quite good at dodging attacks. Even the Beast King needed an effort to capture him.

“Use Bondage Corpse Life!” Su Ping ordered, when he saw the many bones available for use around him. That body size suggests that they might as well have been the Beast King when they were alive. He wasn't sure if Little Skeleton was strong enough to turn the Beast King into a slave, but he wouldn't waste time thinking about another chance to try.

Heeding his orders, the Little Skeleton appeared above one of the bone piles and released a cloud of dark energy around it, causing the bones to start twitching.

Losing the Little Skeleton's aid, the other pets started to die too quickly without giving Su Ping enough time to call them back. Seeing this, Su Ping jumped from the Purple Python and asked him to join the battle as well.

After that, he had to be constantly on guard against danger.

The Purple Python did not do much better than the Heavenly Pig as it could only be slaughtered helplessly in the blink of an eye. Or lived a little longer because the monster had not considered him a major threat.

Like its peers, the python retains its best focus during painful training and releases its hidden potential again and again, only to keep an extra second each time it returns.

Far away from them, the Little Skeleton had managed to manipulate the pile of bones to reshape and stand. The shape was generally like an elephant, but it was at least a hundred meters tall.

Cool!

The Little Skeleton trembled as if its body was breaking. His hollow eye cavity lit up, and a larger skeletal shadow emerged from behind him, sending out a domineering aura from another dimension.

“The face” collapsed, before some of its bones floated back, gathering to create an incomplete shape that slowly moved towards the sand crocodile.

Su Ping could tell that the Little Skeleton was at its limit through their connections. But the result was quite satisfying; the Little Skeleton was actually able to control the Beast King's body, albeit a portion of it, only as a sixth rank Astral Pet. No one would believe it if Su Ping told them that a tier six skeleton had managed to enslave a portion of the dead Beast Kings.

It was all thanks to the skeletal king lineage hidden within the Little Skeleton. It was clearly visible.

The lineage is only considered as “inferior” by the system. Su Ping wondered what kind of terrifying thing a true Skull King could do.

The arrival of “half Beast King” quickly caught the attention of the crocodile as he threw away his weaker enemy and headed there.

The Dark Dragon Hound and Inferno Dragon found an opportunity to unleash their best attacks, most of which were ineffective against the monster's hard body.

Cool!

The Hell Dragon felt humiliated due to its inadequate strength. It gathered the last bit of energy available in its body and emitted embers of fire into that sand monster.

The concentrated destructive power contained within these embers of hellfire caused the crocodile to pause for a bit.

The embers landed on the monster's tail and burned it. The monster tried to put out the fire using the sand around it. But no matter how he tried, the fire remained, while leaving a puddle of melted sand behind.

Enraged by the small sensation of pain, the monster slammed its claws like a brace into the ground and sent a circular shockwave from its position.

Su Ping only had time to drift off the ground to dodge the attack. All of his pets except for the Little Skeleton were caught by the shockwave and exploded into a cloud of blood.

Surprisingly, the shock had no effect on the bone slaves controlled by the Little Skeleton.

Su Ping sighed in relief and revived his pet to continue.

“What was that..?” He glanced towards the tail of the monster that was still burning, before he used the Identification skill on the Inferno Dragon.

He saw new skills displayed.

[Dragon of Hell Fire (level 1)]

It seemed that the original fire attack of the Hell Dragon had just gotten a new name, along with the level label next to it. But he did not remember ever seeing another skill that had such a label.

So.... Can I raise this skill to a higher level in the future?

He decided to throw a question into the system. Systems are usually generous enough to answer simple questions. Sometimes he just has to pay the price.

“Reply to the host: levels are always displayed when the skills used by Beast Kings are adapted for further improvement. You will see a more detailed explanation once you learn Identifying (intermediate). Do you want to learn it now?”
