Astral Pet Store – Chapter 132
After sending Tang Lang away, Su Ping threw the trembling Wing Beast into the Treatment Room.
Today there are many pets in the store waiting to be handed over to their owners. Still, Su Ping had to wait for the school to end. This is not a big deal as there are not many customers during the day.
While he waited, he only needed to use the Dummy Trainer to train the few remaining pets still waiting inside the grooming cage to empty his schedule.
He called the system shop window to see what kind of items were on offer that day. To his disappointment, he did not find any Strength Pellets or beast-capturing rings.
A book by the window caught his attention. It's a skill book.
“What is this? ‘Medium Pet Food Assessment’..”
This was the first time he had seen a system shop selling skill books. It seemed that this one was not a battle pet warrior's special skill, but rather a supportive tool. That would cost 10,000 energy points.
“Does the store sell skills for pets?” he asked the system in his mind.
“Agree.”
It was some interesting news, though the system made it sound boring and unemotional. A mid-level pet skill book is worth quite a lot.
He saw the “sresh” button and decided to give it a try. Since he could earn several dozen thousand energy points each day, spending 100 points was not much.
However, before that, he had chosen to purchase appraisal skills first. He still used the basic ones he received from the system for free, which was far from enough if he wanted to identify better foodstuffs in the cultivation field. He did have some expensive items on the shelf, not because he knew what it was, but because he randomly brought it back because of its colorful appearance.
With this “Middle” Pet Food Assessment, he will be able to scavenge for better items while he trains pets. Using 10,000 energy points for such a skill was truly beneficial. As long as the description of the book was correct, he would be able to use it to identify most of the food and cooking ingredients he could find.
He bought the book, refreshed the store, and was happy to find a middle-class beast-capturing ring among the five new items on offer. This meant that 100 points of energy had been well spent.
He decided to keep going.
The slot with the animal catcher ring gave him another book called “Astral Telekinesis (basic).” It was a skill aimed at fighting pet fighters.
Su Ping paid 5,000 energy points for the book without a second thought.
Once he did, he felt his brain become overwhelmed by the flood of knowledge that suddenly attracted his full attention. She doesn't know how much time passed when she “out.” By the time he regained consciousness, he was only focusing on the new skills he had learned, and it made him feel extremely excited.
It was a powerful skill, not inferior to Killing Intent, if not better. Although it is defined as “basis” by the system, it will work very well if used in the right situation.
Simply put, Astral Telekinesis allowed Su Ping to manipulate objects remotely using his astral powers.
He had heard of something similar before, that is how a title-granted pet warrior can unleash their unparalleled astral power to directly control or even destroy objects before their eyes. This was supposed to be an exclusive ability for titled warriors, who also served as dividers, signifying their superior strength over weaker warriors. Ordinary fighting pet warriors might know how to send their astral powers away from their bodies to create astral runes, which in turn indirectly affect their pets. However they cannot move or control objects in such a way.
Delighted, Su Ping followed the instructions he had just learned and ordered his astral strength to take out the empty food bowl at the counter.
He succeeded without any problems. If there was someone else who was there to watch, they would see the bowl floating in the air without anyone propping it up.
Simple controls were not enough to inflict damage on the object as a title-given soldier could. But that was a start. Su Ping knew he could continue to improve his skills until he could use them as deadly attacks in the future.
“And that's just a basic skill.Maybe I can use this to fool people as long as they don't ask me to do more than just move things.”
He goes to the pet room and finds the biggest pet he keeps in the store. Regardless of their complaining gazes, he used Astral Telekinesis to lift them off the floor.
He only managed to keep the three of them slightly above the ground, then he felt his astral strength was being strained to its limits. He checked the floating pet and measured that the heaviest thing he could carry should be around 3,000 kilograms, which is quite impressive.
After sending the shocked pet back to their grooming cage, Su Ping returned to the front room, sweating.
“This is amazing..”
Such strength was not enough to break through the defenses of the hard-skinned Astral Pets if he only used it to punch them. But ... What if he applied the same force to a needle?
He found a random stone outside the door and threw it into a tree beside the shop. Using his enhanced vision, he saw a brief flash of shadow leaving the rock flying, before a small crater appeared in the middle of the tree trunk with “pom.”
Such a result could have been expected since the stone looked quite fragile. He might be better off if he used something made of metal.
Previously, Su Ping thought he was good enough to fight a titled fighting pet fighter with the help of the Small Skeleton. Then he realized he was too naive. A true warrior who could “ ambush” him from a distance would kill him before he had time to react.
And that worries him.
It was not that he was being targeted by a soldier nicknamed the enemy back then, but no one knew if some kind of misfortune would drag him into a deadly situation someday. He must know how to defend himself better before that happens.
“I have to work on my Solar Bulwark.. As long as I reach second rank, stray bullets from titled warriors will not be able to penetrate my body easily.”.
He went back to the store and called the system menu again. It would be best if he could find some Force Pellets to buy.
“Wait, five hundred energy points?” His actions froze when he saw the number displayed next to the refresh button.
System talking in his head, “Only the first two refresher attempts every day will cost 100 points. The price will go up from there.”
“Fu—”
It's like some kind of cheap knock-off mobile game, isn't it? Where does the system learn about these terrible things?
He sighed and decided to bet. Five hundred was inaudible as long as he could find something good
Or don't. The shop showed five pieces of trash.
He checked the button again. The next refresh would see him lose 1,000 points this time around.
He spit and closed the menu. That's the limit.
From then on, he remembered to refresh the store three times each day. Or just twice, if he lacks energy. He still needed a lot of energy points to level up the store and the Incubation Pool. He cannot throw away too many points for a game of luck.
Since there was still time before the academy released the students, Su Ping closed the shop so that he could spend time inside the dragon king's inheritance land.
While exploring, he did his best to train the Astral Telekinesis against monsters. After many victories and inevitable deaths, he gradually refined the accuracy of the skill until he became quite good at shooting.
Two days had passed, during which Su Ping's name became increasingly known in the Peak Phoenix Academy. When his customers recommended his store to their friends, who further spread his name to others in their community, almost the entire academy was made aware of the expensive but effective “training services he provided.
As soon as the school ended, the crowd of students would all rush to his shop. And if it was a weekend, the outside of the store would be crowded with people in the morning.
While handling his business at a steady pace, Su Ping used his free time to train his own pets, all of which grew rapidly under his tutelage.
Soon, it was time for him to give another lesson in the academy. That day, after doing some necessary work and having lunch, he went to the Phoenix Peak Academy at around two in the afternoon. Lessons have been scheduled at three in accordance with Dong Mingsong's plan.
Half an hour later, he arrived at the academy gate and saw eight people standing at the entrance while looking at the phoenix statue. They all looked like students, which was strange, because students had to be inside the academy back then.
He doesn't care. Getting to her class is more important.
“Hey, you, hold,” one of the “student” saw him come and called him to stop, probably because he also looks like a student who arrived at the academy at a very wrong time.
Su Ping stepped on the brake and looked in that direction.
“Bung, there's Ye Hao studying at your academy, right? I heard he was pretty good. Do you know him?” a young man with a crew piece yelled at him in an ominous manner.
Huh... These people are not from here?
“No. Not knowing him.” Su Ping shook his head.
Ye Hao did pay him money to order his services, even though it barely made them acquainted. He didn't say much about Ye Hao if that was what these people wanted to ask.
