Astral Pet Store – Chapter 206

Several groups waited in an orderly queue in front of the entrance of the tower; they all wanted to test their strength through this ancient experiment. It was a pretty good place to hone their spirit and endurance because that old dragon soul that was left was the perfect training target.

They still needed to be careful, as the fragments of the dragon soul could still injure or even kill them if their visit was not timely.

“Hei view. Someone reached the fourth level. ” A man points to the 4th part of the tower that is shining right now.

“She's pretty good. A rank eight battle pet master or higher, I guess? ”

Being an eighth rank battle pet warrior was already impressive in this mysterious realm. Returning to the base town, they were either the leaders of a team of prominent settlers, or influential figures respected by many.

Unhappy, Su Ping glanced at the glowing tower and found a spot at the end of the line. He wanted to enjoy the peace while waiting, even though the chatting crowd did not allow him to because most of them went there with many friends or teammates who came along, either, all of them spoke excitedly about all the fame and glory they could achieve by leaving them behind.the names on the Pioneer Rank list.

The conversation only got louder when one managed to reach the fourth level, as it was a rare occurrence.

Before long, more people began to pile up behind him.

“Wait... Mr Su? Is that you?”

Su Ping turned around after hearing the voice, but only saw someone he did not know.

“You are...?”

He did not believe any students who would normally visit his shop were qualified to be there. Although there may be exceptions.

The man chuckled in shame. “I'm Gu Beichen, Mr. Su. I've bought things from you. I even placed my Fantasy Beast under your care once. That ring a bell?”

Su Ping did remember something like that. That's when the store was not widely known among people. Gu Beichen seemed to be a settler who had bought some pet food from his shop back then.

“Ah, I know you. Hehehe.”

“*sigh* This happens when you have too many customers to take care of, right?”

In the past, Gu Beichen had been troubled by the insane price Su Ping demanded from him to train his Fantastic Beasts. But he changed his mind later when he summoned a pet during a barren area expedition; he realized that the incredible growth of his pet was really worth 100,000 astral coins.

Unfortunately, he was stuck in his mission so he was unable to visit Su Ping for further services. He always planned to do this as soon as he had time. It was really unexpected to meet Su Ping at this place.

“Are you also here to test your courage?” Gu Beichen examined Su Ping from head to toe without detecting any visible astral force. In his view, someone so young might have reached the fifth rank, which was already incredible.

Su Ping nodded slightly in reply.

Gu Beichen looked behind Su Ping and showed a strange look. “Did you come alone, Mr Su?”

“Um-hm.”

“What? You're not-“

This is a risky thing to do even if one does not plan to enter an uncharted sector. A lone traveler often falls prey to robbers and murderers when walking in an area without proper supervision. Even the titled battle pet fighter stationed there could not keep an eye on all the places at all times.

“You um, do you need me to accompany you on your way back?” said Gu Beichen. He would not bother with such things normally, even though he decided to make an exception since Su Ping had indeed helped him once.

Su Ping rejected the offer. As far as he could see, Gu Beichen might be there to spend some time training, while he would leave once he completed the tower challenge. Their schedule doesn't allow it.

Gu Beichen looked a little frustrated after his generous offer was rejected. He was currently the sixth rank battle pet warrior who needed to reach the next rank to enter the Elite Pet Warrior League. He knew he could do it immediately because he was already strong enough to fight against a top rank seven monster. He was confident that he could protect the vulnerable shopkeeper from most problems.

He wanted to ask again, but refrained from thinking twice; he was never a talkative person. Since Su Ping did not need it, he would happily avoid the extra work.

“Quite fair. Careful.”

Su Ping nodded slightly in reply.

The two waited patiently without speaking again.

A young woman in front of Su Ping jumped up happily while talking to an old man beside her. “Hey grandfather, this time I will reach the fifth floor! If Tang Ruyan can do it at such an age, I can do it too!”

Su Ping thought of the woman who was still trapped in his scroll and wondered how to deal with it later. He had to find a way to force her to speak.

The queue is shortened at a fixed speed. Shortly after, the girl in front of him got a turn.

The second part of the tower lit up after only a minute had passed. The girl was apparently very experienced in passing through the illusion on the first floor.

The trick to succeeding there is not strength, but courage. Even pet fighters who were given the title would become too afraid to continue if they did not know that the dragon hiding inside was just an illusion.

A moment later, the third part shone brightly.

Gu Beichan looked up with a frown. He could see that the woman was only 20 years old or maybe younger, while he was already 25 years old. Seeing such a young woman make progress so quickly made her stressful.

Immediately, the fourth part shone, causing some onlookers to shout in shock.

The miracle did not continue; after a long interval, the girl appeared at the base of the tower with sadness written all over her face.

“Nothing, Son,” his grandfather quickly approached to cheer him up, “You can always try again next year. You have plenty of time.”

The girl clenched her teeth. “I—I will queue up and try again. I can get to the fifth floor. I almost got it!”

The old man carefully checked if he was injured in any way.

11*Sigh*Alright. But don't push yourself too hard, okay?”

“I won't, grandpa.”

Recalling that he would not challenge the tower due to his old age, he turned around and was about to head to the end of the line. He paused for a moment when he saw another young man right behind his grandson; he seemed to be the same age.

“Oh, I'm sorry, my friend. I am not a challenger. You can go ahead. ”

Su Ping returned from his inner musings and realized that this was his turn.

The old man shook his head because he believed that this young man was too easily distracted.

“You sure you're ready, young’un? This is not a children's game. Getting in there without preparation is too dangerous. ” Su Ping looked at the old man. “Ready? Oh, yes, yes, I'm really ready.”

“You-I mean.. All right. Take care of yourself.” The old man stepped aside because he was not interested in paying too much attention to strangers.

“For your eyes to stay there, Mr Su!” Gu Beichen reminded him.

“Sure. You are also careful. The challenge is quite heavy.”

Well, you don't have to tell me about that! Gu Beichen thought with an annoyed expression. Is he seriously going to the tower like a wanderer who knows nothing??

Su Ping answered him by entering the entrance without looking back. “That guy looks really young, doesn't he?” the girl commented.

“Of course.” The old man nodded. “She must have gotten a ticket here through her connection. But compared to you, he's obviously not ready for this.”

The girl did not seem interested. He used to meet with “men who were not ready” during his studies.

“Quick, let's go to the end of the line and start from the beginning, grandfather.”

“Sure.”

They walked along the line, but were soon stopped by a few people shouting around them.

Perplexed, the girl turned around and saw the fourth part of the bone tower glow yellow.

“Dia—how??”
