Astral Pet Store – Chapter 100
The Pyro dog struggled in the hot lava and screamed with all his might. Like most dog pets, this one has learned how to scare his opponents by roaring at them. However, at this moment, it only sounded like a frightened puppy being bullied.
Its fiery red fur could not hold it to withstand the deadly heat as it was instantly ignited. Within seconds, the dog turned into a scorching fireball and disappeared beneath the surface.
Other surviving pets see the sad fate of their partner with widened eyes and open jaws.
Their contract explained that Su Ping was their new master for now. As pets loved and cared for by their original owners, they felt as if they had been cursed to hell overnight. The man in front of them was a terrible pet abuser or something worse. He had just killed one of them without the slightest mercy.
Using the power of their contract, Su Ping summoned his next target, the Blue Spark Cat. This one is another popular fire-type pet with the ability to speed. It is currently ranked fourth, while it has the potential to reach the sixth rank with sufficient training.
The cat looked at Su Ping with its enlarged purple eyes and slowly walked towards him.
Copying what he did just a moment ago, he sent the creature into the lava below.
“YOOOWL—”
The poor thing puffed up into a ball of feathers and got into a death-red substance with no way to fight back. Her hysterical meowing immediately stopped as the charred remains of her body disappeared from sight.
The two remaining pets huddled together and trembled.
“Come.”
Su Ping intended for these pets to grow stronger against the flames and make them experience what death feels like. It would be too late if they experienced the same situation while exploring a barren area with their owner.
Third pet—Obsidian—stoobs step by step as slowly as possible.
“Do not waste time. That won't help you.”
Another clean kick.
Bump!!
Rakings.
The frog managed to jump on top of the heavy liquid several times like a pebble jumping up and down before its limbs caught fire and died.
The Fire Lion Child that was left behind had been bedwetting with his own urine. This one had received an inevitable death with an expression of true despair.
Kick, burn, and die.
“Rise back here.”
The four pets reappeared beside Su Ping, and he pushed them off the edge again before they realized what was happening.
The Flame Lion was slightly heavier than the others. At “merpati”, a few drops of lava reached Su Ping's body. He was quite surprised to learn that he was not burning at all. The lava was extremely hot, but he could withstand it well.
He crouched down and also tested the lava with a finger.
There was no need to retreat; the temperature was decent, not what he had imagined.
My Solar Bulwark works, I guess.
He had achieved a first rank skill in the past few days, making his body as durable as someone of the fifth rank. Combined with the fact that the Golden Crow loved fire, Su Ping's fire resistance had developed to a fairly impressive level.
He grabbed further down, until his entire hand was inside the lava.
That nice. I want to take a hot shower.
He took off his clothes and sat on the edge of the platform to soak his feet in the lava.
A pleasant feeling crept along his legs and reached his body, causing him to shudder in delight. He sensed how his body was absorbing the fire element from the lava, which in turn increased his Solar Bulwark. This may be made possible by the nature of the Golden Crow, which is known to eat fire to grow up.
“Acquired.”
The resurrected pets saw him naked and were startled for a while, before they remembered what was going on.
Once again, Su Ping forced them to continue “mandi”.
The power of holding down pet contracts is not entirely perfect. There are occasional cases where pets can harm their owners. Pyro Canine seemed to be going down this road back then. After hearing Su Ping command, he instead bared his teeth towards her.
When Su Ping tried to kick him again, it bit his ankle and stuck to his leg.
Regardless of the almost negligible pain, Su Ping moved his legs to throw the dog away. The creature was easily shaken as its teeth barely entered its skin.
Su Ping's current body was completely immune to anything at the fourth rank or below. Not to mention the four pets he brought were all fire-type.
Unable to resist, the pet spun through life and death repeatedly.
They died a few hundred times or more in two hours. While doing so, they try to learn how to last longer in the lava pool, which eventually allows them to paddle in the lava for a minute or two. Meanwhile, their resistance to fire had also increased, which was what Su Ping expected to achieve.
His training did not involve complex tactics or knowledge. By sending pets to their deaths, they will naturally learn how to get better. That simple. This way, even the slowest of pets will be forced to come up with new or evolved properties accordingly.
In order to speed up his work, Su Ping jumped up and started swimming in the lava, so the pets instantly “joined” with him every time they came back to life.
None of them were trying to resist right now, after seeing his futility. Their only thought was to live longer after each attempt, hoping to satisfy humans who seemed more like fire-type Astral Pets than themselves.
Five hours later, the pet was able to safely survive in the lava for eight minutes. Lava could no longer kill them because eight minutes was enough for them to reach the nearest pumice stone.
Seeing this, Su Ping told them to stop so that he could check out the other parts of this cultivation field. The training has been done.
Ordinary training sessions required him to raise the rank of the Combat Power of the pet by at least 0.33, or new skills had to be taught. Currently, the four pets have successfully mastered a skill called the Fire Coat, which works similarly to the “lightning mantle” Lightning Rat. This skill can be further enhanced to “Flame Armor” in the future.
In addition, Pyro Canine is a little smarter than his friends because of getting an additional skill, namely Flame Dragon’s Roar.
However, he failed to find anything worth taking. There was nothing other than a few wild fire-type Astral Pets of varying degrees.
He was sent back to his shop when the timer ran out.
He died 12 times during the exploration, all of which were caused by high-level pets and even the Beast King. He could have taken Little Skeleton with him but did not, as there was little benefit to it in the field of cultivation for fire-type pets.
Su Ping dressed himself again and called the trained pet owner before he collected and prepared another batch of pets.
A day on a cultivation plane was equal to an hour in reality. When he returned to the shop, Su Ping saw a young man waiting in front of the shop with a worried look, probably because the shop was closed while he was still in training session, he said, and this man thinks he's left his job.
“You're the only one?” Su Ping looked around and did not look at anyone else. “But I called the four of you to come.”
The young man gave her a shy smile. “They all came, but they went the other way to hang out when they didn't find you. Should I call them? ”
“Ya, do.”
Zhang Baoxing followed Su Ping inside while sending a message. “You've trained my Pyro Canine? But I just handed it to you this morning.”
“Yeah, it's afternoon now. Is there a problem?”
Zhang Baoxing frowned. The trouble? Of course there's a problem! Does this guy give my pet dog food and take it as proper training??
I bought my Pyro Canine for a hundred thousand, and he only spent a few hours training it?
Zhang Baoxing decided to wait for his companions to come before arguing with Su Ping.
Soon, the other three arrived.
Without wasting any time, Su Ping gave them their pets.
“Training already ... done?” The four people all looked displeased as they all believed that Su Ping was deceiving them. While they are too worried about wasting money, they do not realize that their pet almost cries when they see them.
Su Ping only ordered Pyro Canine to use the Flame Coat.
The temporary pet contract had been terminated, yet the dog immediately heeded the order out of instinct, as if Su Ping had just pressed some kind of sensitive button planted deep in his heart.
Followed by three more “poof”, three other pets also did the same and brightened up the interior of the store with their new skills, he said, while the customer who wanted to sue Su Ping noticed the pet with widened eyes.
“That Fire Coat?” Zhang Baoxing recognized the skill first. “But it's a mid-level skill. They learned it in less than a day ??
“By the way, your Pyro Canine also learned how to use Flame Dragon’s Roar. But I can't show it here because it will mess up my shop. Find an empty spot and try it yourself later. ”
“What?? Those are two mid-level skills!”
“How about us??” the other three men quickly asked. They no longer doubted Su Ping.
Su Ping glanced at them. “They undergo the same training. But the rest is .. say, not as talented as Pyro Canine. They all gain a higher resistance to fire. From now on, fire-based attacks will no longer work against them.”
The three of them looked jealous, thinking of the skills learned by the Pyro Dog, although they would not complain. More defense sounds quite useful in any case.
Zhang Baoxing lovingly shook Su Ping's hand. “Mr Su, can — can I keep my dog here longer? Let me see, I will pay you an extra 20,000 as a tip! ”
Su Ping immediately agreed. He could not turn “tip” into energy points, though he would be happy to give the money to his mother. It was time he offered some kind of financial assistance to his family.
“Pets can only undergo one training session per day,” system warns it.
Su Ping curled his lips.
“...This is to prevent the store is dominated exclusively by rich customers. The ultimate goal of pet stores is to serve people from all walks of life. Please expand your vision, host. ”
Well, I can understand the first part, but is it necessary to judge me like that?? Su Ping thought, before saying to Zhang Baoxing, “I can only train it once a day. Come back tomorrow.”
Zhang Baoxing retreated in disappointment. If he could, he would even visit every day from then on.
“We can all come again, right?” the other three asked.
“Of course.”
“Good!”
The customers brought their pets and left, after carefully remembering the address of “treasure” warehouse they just found. They finally knew how the Lightning Rat had grown to be so powerful. With such efficient training, their pets could do the same!
The only problem is that they cannot easily afford special training sessions.
While walking away, their pet took the lead and tried to urge their master to move faster.
Su Ping closed the door and called for more customers to take the second group of pets, while not forgetting to remind them that they would have to wait a while if he left. He prefers to avoid wasting time while waiting for customers.
After answering questions from several potential customers, he bought more temporary contracts and began training the third group.
The remaining pets should not be of the same element, but close. Finding a suitable cultivation plane for all of them would be a relatively easy task.
Spending a few days inside the cultivation plane made him tired. He was eager to bring the store to level 2 as quickly as possible, so “Players could help him.
The good thing is, training a pet personally is also beneficial for him. He learned a lot from all the confrontations and deaths he experienced.
