I'm Just Looking at You

Karan is still evasive even though he is desperate. Raya knew her husband's mistake, but she still followed him. Although a little tired because it just keeps circling in almost the same place, Raya gets a new experience with her husband. Experience dating him on the streets of Milan. Just as Karan had said, not a single person recognized Raya. Naturally, because the majority of the population in the city of Milan including people who are ignorant. Even though Raya is a Hollywood artist who often fills the big screen, she is sure that no one will take photos or disturb her as often Raya natural in Indonesia. Maybe this is one of the western cultures that need to be imitated by the people of Indonesia, which is always to maintain the privacy of others.

There is something else that Raya likes about this rough experience of theirs. Something Raya rarely experienced with Karan anywhere. Karan clasped his hand as if he would not be willing to make Raya leave from his side. Sometimes Karan also walked while glancing towards Raya, making sure his wife was in good condition. When Raya looks a little tired, Karan will invite Raya to stop walking for a moment or at least the man will slow down his steps. Karan will adjust his steps to Raya's slow pace because Raya's footsteps are much shorter than Karan's.

“Are you tired? Are we back?” ask Karan in the end. The words surprised Raya. Has Karan given up now? After almost two hours of them circling, did the man realize that he was misguided enough to make them stray? Raya observes Karan's face. The man looked depressed. There was also regret that was evident from the glare of his eyes. It seemed like the man really felt guilty for having been stubborn to the point of forcing them to walk this far.

Instead of agreeing with Karan's words, Raya instead challenged the man by saying one sentence, “So you've given up?”

Karan is obviously stumbling. Surrender is not a word in Karan's living dictionary. He would never give up and would never do that no matter what. Kingdom alone that had disappeared from his life for 12 years he could get back. The treasure that Karan had dreamed of all his life in the past, was now really in his hands. Companies that are prosperous and have hundreds of thousands of workers can be well led by Karan. How could there be a word of surrender in Karan's life? It's improbable.

“No! I didn't give up,” elak Karan because he did not feel like giving up at all. Only, Karan did not want to be selfish. He's with Raya now. If only he had crossed dozens of kilometers alone, then he would never have given up. However, Raya was not as strong as Karan. His wife had a fragile physique, not one that seemed tested. So, it would be nice if Karan stopped this stubbornness. It was better for them to return to the inn than to walk around without this direction. He did not want to make Raya suffer from the fatigue of walking. “I just don't want to see my wife exhausted,” the man continued.

Raya smiled happily. “True, I'm tired. But I want to go back to Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli. I haven't been there in a long time. You can find it for me, right?” Raya said with an enthusiastic face. If I'm honest, his leg is already hurting. Maybe it's swollen now. Although he has been wearing sneakers that are quite comfortable, but still walking so far can make his feet hurt. Not to mention the supplies they prepared had been exhausted they ate a while ago. The supply of mineral water in their drink bottles is also getting thinner. However, Raya still wants to restore Karan's cheerful face, and she thinks this is the only way to do that.

“Alright, you just wait here. I will ask people around,” said Karan find a solution that should have been taken since. Just because of his arrogance, Karan was unwilling to do so. This is a silly act. Because of his actions, he had to see the Kingdom exhausted like this. “East entrance is there, dear. About five minutes from here. But, we go back to the inn, right? Tomorrow we come back here,” bargained Karan while approaching his wife who was sitting on the street bench. The woman seemed to be shaking her legs because she felt uncomfortable. Something is wrong with both feet.

“You sure? Is it not just now? We'll be here in five minutes. Isn't that dear?” said Raya while pulling both her legs so that Karan did not pay too much attention to her.

Instead of answering, Karan squatted down in front of Raya. He touched Raya's left foot. Despite being pulled as hard as she could, Karan could still hold onto her. “Your leg is swollen as it turns out. I'm sorry, honey. I shouldn't have been so stubborn that I hurt you like this. I'm really sorry,” Karan said. In his tone of voice sounded a huge regret.

“This is nothing. I can still walk, Karan.” Raya tried to force herself to stand, but it failed. He returned to his feet on the bench. It turns out that the impact of the swelling is already felt now. The pain began to spread in both of his legs.

“Honey, no!” prevent Karan when Raya tries to stand up again. This was the Kingdom he had known all along. He likes to push himself and always hide his pain. Karan does not want regrets in the past to happen again, where Karan too late to realize the wounds that Raya received. As a result Raya bears all of it alone while Karan knows nothing at all. “You're hurt, honey. Don't stand up again.”

“But, we have to get there.”

Karan shook his head. “Yes, but not now. We're leaving tomorrow. Now we go home.”

Raya's face turned disappointed and she let out a long sigh. “Alright .. but, how do we get back to the inn if I can't stand?”

Raya cringing not understanding. “Means?”

In a still crouching state, Karan twisted his body. Now it is his back that is in front of Raya. “Come, I will carry you,” Karan said as he glanced back.

Both eyes were wide open, but she still obeyed the words of her husband. He approached Karan's back. “This is the first time yes,” chirps Kingdom after they walk where her body has been carried by Karan. He turned his head to the right and left in turn with his hands connected to each other in front of Karan's neck.

“No,” reply Karan.

“No?” Raya frowned. “Have we ever done this before?”

Yeah, often. When we were teenagers. You're always hurt by falling over a tree to steal a neighbor's fruit. And I have to carry you on my back like this. Or when you fall asleep waiting for me to practice basketball. I won't wake you, but I'll choose to carry you.

Karan was eager to say that to Raya, but he could not. That sentence could only be perfectly stored in his heart without being able to get out of his lips. These were the saddest moments for her, where all the memories of their past were never remembered by the wife at all. Keeping these memories made her chest feel tight. Had Karan not had strong self-control, he would have cried by now. Really a pathetic guy.

“Yes, I once carried you when you fell asleep in the living room of our house. Did you forget?” Karan deliberately diverted the conversation from the one in his heart.

“Yes, I remember. But that time was not like this. You carry me in front.”

“What's the difference? Equally I carry ‘kan?”

“Very different because in this position, I can see what you've been seeing. I can position myself to be you.”

Karan was shocked to hear it. “Nothing interesting being me.”

“No, it's very interesting.”

“You won't be able to see anything when you're in my position, honey. Because I'm just gonna see you.”
