The Poor Girl

Mathematics became a lesson that connected Raya and Farraz. Raya Drisana is not a girl who was born and lived on Asoka Street since infancy. He was born in downtown—the same place he lives now. When he was three years old, his father transferred his workplace to the local government office. The father is a civil servant so that the economy of their family is adequate. While the mother is a midwife who is quite famous name in the village. They even live in homes that are classified as luxurious in poor areas such as houses in villages along Asoka Street. There are no significant financial difficulties so their lives are fairly fine.

That was in the beginning. Before the catastrophe happened. Ibu Raya died when Raya was six years old. It was death that changed everything, both their lives, the father and the family's economy, everything. Nothing good happened after the death of the mother Kingdom. Everything's falling apart. The father, who loved his wife so much, felt devastated to be left dead by the woman. He felt frustrated and dissolved in his grief to destroy his life and even their little daughter. Because of his sadness, his work is often disrupted and not infrequently ends up in chaos. And seeing that, the boss fired the man disrespectfully without being given any severance.

Not having a job does not make Raya's father change his way of life. That guy's getting worse. This time not only became unemployed at home, he actually began to drink alcohol until drunk. In fact, not infrequently he spends the money left in his savings for things that are not important. Increasingly, one by one the objects inside their luxurious house began to sell out. Cars, motorcycles, electronic objects to home certificates have been pawned by the father to debt collectors as collateral for his life. That ended up them having to move from that big house to a house that even the Kingdom had never imagined before.

House next to the bridge. A small house made only of planks with a size of five by six meters. Of course it's not their real home. There they still pay rent per year even though the price is not as expensive as the cost they spend on living expenses while the mother Kingdom is still alive. After the money was completely gone, Raya's father started looking for work. His prestigious diploma and his work experience in government agencies are worth nothing in the village. No one cares about a person's level of education if he or she is poor and has no network with important people in that area.

Unfortunately, even though he had worked in government agencies and had many acquaintances in his office, it was still useless for the man. Either because of his arrogant attitude while still working as a civil servant or because he is indeed a person who is not good at getting along with his surroundings, but certainly no one wants to help him. They were impressed when contacted by the man. Some of them even pretended not to remember him. The thing that made the man had no choice but to work by just relying on his muscles alone. That is, he will work rough as a oddball laborer in a factory close to the village. The only place that could hold him.

Only 30 thousand rupiahs can Raya's father collect in a day working as a manual laborer in the factory. Even if he really works all day. Because of his drunkenness, often he only came half a day and only got a salary of 10 thousand. With that money, to eat alone is very less. He spent his money to buy cigarettes. As a result, once home after a long day of work, there was nothing the man could give his daughter. And the opposite happened, he even demanded Raya who was still a child to work. That way they can have money to buy food.

Just like the other children in the village, Raya also works. Despite not doing well in academics, Raya has always been a smart child. He did not want to work in the factory as a laborer because it would make him tired. He went to the next village to help his neighbors sell in the market. That is also the reason Raya used to be able to attend elementary school in the village. Early in the morning has helped his neighbors bring vegetables grown behind the house, then brought it to the market in the opposite village. When the day has shown at seven, Raya will go to school.

“It's rice and vegetables to cook at home. And here's the money for your school fees. Do not let your father know if you have money,” the neighbor's message to give advice to Raya every day when they finish work. The advice was sincere he conveyed because he knew with certainty the habits of the father Kingdom.

Who in the village doesn't know who and how the former government employee behaved? Every day only makes trouble in the midst of society. If he does not vomit on the streets, he will sleep in front of other people's houses carelessly. That is not the worst because the man often bothers the children in the village. Not infrequently he took the money of children who laboriously worked in factories to be used to buy cigarettes and liquor. That made him finally have to be beaten by their parents. With that habit, if he knew Raya had money, then he would not hesitate to take it from his daughter even though the money should be used for daily needs.

“If you've reached home. Quickly lock your room. Don't let that son of a bitch get inside. You understand, Raya?” The middle-aged woman reminded Raya how dangerous the boy's real father was. Because, not only caused a commotion because of drunkenness, he also committed violence to Raya. Dishes, glasses and chairs are often the target of his tantrums at home. If he saw Raya, then that brat became the man's impromptu samsak. Using a broomstick, Raya's body was subjected to the cruelty of her father.

Surprisingly, not once did the father hit Raya in the face. Raya's hands, back and legs were often bruised as a result of her father's abuse. But there was only one place that the man had never touched. Faces Raya. Since childhood, Raya is said to be very similar to her mother. Her nose, her cheeks ..Even the way she smiled was so similar to her mother. Maybe that's what makes his father reluctant to do violence in the area of Raya's face. Because every time he saw the innocent face of the little girl, he remembered the figure of the wife who had left him. Nevertheless, the face was unable to contain her anger which resulted in the torture of her own biological daughter.

Raya nodded obediently. “Yes, Raya will lock the door of meetings from the Father,” replied the boy innocently.

Initially Raya locked the door of the room because she was lazy to take care of her useless father. However, over time Raya became often locked the door of her room to avoid the father. Avoiding his rampage that is getting worse and worse. Avoiding the hard blow from the hand or broom that the man used on his body. Avoid all the cruelty of that son of a bitch. Easy to do at first. But more and more, Raya's fear grew due to her father's growing madness.
