A slow knock from the direction of the door, made Nate who was looking down, look up.
"You're calling me, sir?"
Marcus, his loyal assistant, is ready to take on the duties of his superiors.
"I've thought about it, Marc."
Marcus' eyebrows shot up slightly, but the cold man did not say anything.
Nate tapped his chin slowly on the pedestal of his hand on the table.
"I'll try it. I'll follow your advice."
Marcus' lips slightly raised. Showing a very faint smile. A smile that he rarely showed.
"What do you want?"
His superior sighed back, leaning on the chair behind him.
"First of all, I want to improve my relationship with him first. Twice we met, and I've left a bad impression on her."
Marcus pulled something out of his pocket. The man placed a white envelope on the table.
"Your decision is very timely, Sir. Miss Alina Johan just submitted her resignation letter this morning."
Nate's eyes looked at Marcus. He noticed the change in his assistant's greeting to the woman. This made Nate's heart tremble slightly. He doesn't know the cause.
Grabbing the letter, Nate read it at a glance and put it in his desk drawer.
"Marcus. Please arrange my meeting with him."
"Who do you want to meet as, sir?"
The man stared at the ballpoint pen he was holding in his left hand.
Looking at his assistant, he said steadily. "As myself. Nathanael Axelle."
Just then, Lin was knocking on Lucy's workroom. He wanted to apologize to the woman.
Thinking back to his words yesterday, Lin did feel that he had crossed a line so that he hurt his own friend.
At least Lin wanted her relationship with Lucy to leave a good impression, even though they would never meet again.
Lucy was the only friend Lin ever had.
Not long after the door opened, showing the friendly-faced figure of Lucy.
Seeing who was coming, the woman immediately pouted and stared coldly.
"What are you doing coming here?"
"Can I come in?"
There was a stir in Lucy's heart. On the one hand, he was still angry at his friend. But on the other hand, he also wanted to know what this woman in front of him would say.
Sighing heavily, he shifted to the side. "Come in."
Slowly, Lin entered Lucy's workroom. He saw the various files on his desk, indicating that the woman is busy at this time.
"Thank you Luce, already prepared-"
"What do you want to talk about?"
Lucy slammed her body on one of the sofas and folded her arms in front of her chest.
Understanding the reaction of his friend who was still angry, Lin took a position opposite Lucy.
"I want to apologize for what I said yesterday. Sorry to hurt you, Luce."
"No need. That's your problem, your privacy. I have no right to mix it up."
Lucy's words that reversed her words, made Lin's heart feel pinched. She finally felt what Lucy felt yesterday.
"I'm really sorry, Luce. I know I may not be worthy of your forgiveness, but will you listen to my explanation?"
The woman intends to be honest with her friend, at least to some extent that she thinks is still safe.
Hearing that, inevitably Lucy stared at him. His eyes looked a little curious, but he still maintained his silence.
Before starting the story, Lin took a deep breath.
"Last night, I went to see Mr. Marcus and told him everything. He's willing to help me figure out who did it."
Lucy's eyebrows lifted. "That's it?"
"I don't want to involve you, Luce, because there's a possibility that the culprit is a very important person in the company. Don't let it be because of my personal problems, you become dragged into an unpleasant situation."
Lucy's forehead wrinkled at Lin's explanation. "What do you mean?"
"If until this problem is widespread among employees, by involving one of the company's leaders. What do you think is going to happen, Luce? I'm still single, it doesn't matter if I get fired. But what about you who have a son?"
Lucy's face long ago became paled, as she finally realized how complicated the matter was and the possible bad odds were.
"As you can see for yourself, the abuse issue with Lionel up until now has not come to light. But since he was just an ordinary employee, I hardly felt any impact even though the man had already spread such unpleasant rumors about me."
Looking at his friend, Lin continued.
"But for this one, I can't risk it Luce. Even Mr. Marcus himself indirectly admits, that he may not be able to do anything later if it is indeed proven."
"You understand Luce now? Why did I get so angry that you didn't interfere, specifically for this matter?"
The woman in front of him got up and moved beside Lin. He hugged his friend while crying.
"I'm sorry Lin. I didn't know you were thinking that far."
Lin also returned the hug of his friend tightly. He feels very relieved at this time.
"It's okay Luce. I'm sorry, too."
Currently, Lin was still unwilling to reveal his decision to resign. He will tell it later when the time is more appropriate.
After that, they promised each other to have lunch together. Lin immediately returned to his office.
Just as it entered his cubic, the phone on his desk rang aloud.
"Hello." In a hurry he lifted it.
"Alina Johan?" The voice of a foreign man greeted him.
"Yes. I'm on my own."
"I'm with Jon, Mr. Marcus' secretary. He asks to meet you. Are you able to come into his room now?"
Lin's heart was beating faster. Is there a clue?
"Yes. I can come to his room now."
"good. Please come to the 60th floor. I'll meet you there."
Saying thank you, Lin put the phone handle in place.
The woman met her superior briefly to ask permission and headed straight for the elevator that would take her to the 60th floor.
Arriving at the floor he was on, a perlente man had been waiting for him.
"Aline?" The man extended his hand.
"Yes. You with Mr Jon?" Lin greeted him tightly.
Smiling, the man said, "Call Jon. Please."
Towards Marcus' room, Jon glanced at the woman beside him clandestinely. He had heard the news that this woman had been dated by Lionel.
The woman has a proportional body. Not too short and not too tall. He also has a neck and legs that look level when wearing a skirt and shirt.
Her face was actually ordinary, and her makeup looked slightly thick for her size.
The clothes he wore were ordinary, even very polite. There was absolutely no indication to invite the striped nose man, to glance at him.
Nothing too special about this woman. But Lionel, the head of mortality who is also known as a playboy, seems to be quite infatuated with him.
Is he good in bed? Jon's head was filled with various slightly perverted questions.
Without realizing it, the woman in front of him had stopped. The man almost hit him.
The man was shocked, it turned out that Lin already knew the location of Mr. Marcus' room.
"Have you been here before?"
"Yet. But I went through it when I brought the documents a few days ago."
Trying to neutralize himself, Jon knocked on the door in front of him slowly.
Sayup-sayup, there was a hoarse voice of a man. Marcus's Voice. "Lake in."
Both of them went straight into the big room.
Marcus is seen sitting at his desk at the end of the room, against a large window with a view of the horizon.
There was another man sitting in the chair in front of him, turning his back to the entrance.
Lin's heart was beating a little faster, when it felt it recognized his physical traits.
"Mr Marcus. Alina Johan's."
"alright. You can get Jon out."
Marcus' eyes narrowed slightly when he saw Jon still stealing a glance towards the woman's body in front of him.
After the man came out, Marcus directly contacted someone by phone.
"Hendrich. I asked for a replacement secretary. Mutate Jon to overseas branches. The small one."
After giving the instructions, Marcus hung up the phone without saying anything more. Makes Lin quite confused. What did Jon do?
Marcus got up from his seat. Tidying up his suit, he met the man opposite him.
Slowly, the sitting man stood up from his position. The two men actually had a body posture that was almost similar when viewed at a glance.
When the man finally turned his body around, Lin's heart completely slipped into his stomach.
Marcus stood between the two of them, separating the two in considerable distance.
"Miss Alina Johan. Meet, Mr. Nathanael Axelle. The owner of this company."
