Madness

Madness
Chapter 19's

Reflex, Lin rubbed Nate's back covered in her singlet shirt. He tried to give comfort to the man.

The woman did not understand at all what was happening to the man in her arms, but he looked fine.

Sensing the man who was starting to move, Lin lowered his head, staring at Nate's face back.

"Nate?"

The face of the man in front of him was still pale, but he did not seem to sweat much anymore.

"sorry. I was so nauseous earlier." Nate started to move away from Lin and sat leaning on the sofa.

"What's going on?"

The man shook his head. He squeezed his hair strong, seemed to try to eliminate the nausea that was still in his stomach.

"I can't stand the smell."

"Don't you?"

"Your friend."

Lin's eyebrows shot up. Is his friend that? Why didn't he feel it?

It seemed that the man had no desire to explain anymore. He seemed to be holding his stomach which was still a little nauseous.

"You want green tea? Usually it can soothe a turbulent stomach."

Hearing that, Nate turned to Lin. He opened his eyes.

"You're drinking green tea?"

"Yes. I usually drink when I feel nauseous too. You want?"

The woman stood up and headed for the pantry in the kitchen. He used to provide green tea in his closet, just in case he was nauseous after coming home from each of his failed dates first.

In the pantry, Lin started concocting green tea like he used to. While Nate who was still sitting on the sofa, could only look at the woman in astonishment.

The longer I know you, the more I like you, Lin.

Not long after, the woman brought two cups of tea that were still puffing hot smoke and again sat down next to Nate.

He handed one of them to the man. "drink. Maybe it can help."

Thanking him, the man accepted it and began to inhale its scent. Nate slightly frowned when smelling a foreign scent.

"You added something?"

Lin who was drinking his tea, looked at Nate from behind his cup. The woman was wondering how Nate's body odor could not make her nauseous at this time when the man was hugging her tightly.

"Yes. My secret recipe. Try."

Slowly, Nate sipped the still hot tea.

A warm stream of tea flowed down the tummy of the turbulent man. Not long after, his stomach began to feel much calmer than before.

Seeing the man slowly finishing the tea in his cup, made Lin chuckle.

"Hows it? Yummy?"

Nate looked at him and smiled widely. He put his empty cup on the table. "Yes. Very yummy. How do you make it?"

Just this time the man liked the green tea concoction from someone else. He had never trusted anyone else to make tea for him before.

"He-he. Secret." Lin blinked his eyes.

"You have a knack for negotiating, Lin."

"I'll tell you someday."

The woman placed her empty cup next to Nate's.

Curious, Lin turned to the man.

"What did you do, Nate? At the club, it looks like you're still okay."

Getting a question that he really didn't want to answer, Nate leaned his body against the head of the sofa. One of his hands rubbed his own head.

"A little embarrassing actually. If I could, I honestly wouldn't tell anyone this."

Nate's sitting position that looked very masculine, somehow made Lin stunned.

He only realized that the man in front of him was only wearing a singlet shirt, which showed both of his biceps were densely muscular but not excessive. Make it still can still look slim in his expensive coat.

The body of the man was very formed. It is very clear that he likes physical activities that are quite extreme, because such a body will never be obtained from the tools in the gym.

This made Lin very curious about Nate's background, especially before he went through any changes.

Unknowingly, Lin's hand held the man's upper arm. She squeezes. Throughout his life, Lin has met many people who like to exercise. But none of them were as physical as that man.

Nate who was shocked to get that sudden touch, could only be dumbstruck. He looked at the woman in front of him, who looked at his arm like he was looking at a foreign object.

The woman held onto Nate's arm and pet him involuntarily. It was like he was staring at a toy he had seen for the first time.

The woman's touch, though casual, began to cause a strange sigh in the man's chest, making his two eyes slowly blacken again. Is Lin starting to like him?

"Lin?"

"Eh?"

Lin realized he was holding onto Nate's arm, finally releasing him in a hurry.

His cheeks were red when he realized that he had touched the man without permission.

"Sorry."

Shamefully, the woman rose from her seat and silently cleaned their empty cups.

Putting the empty cups in the sink in the pantry, Lin started washing them slowly. What was with him?

He felt a strong urge to touch the man without his restraint.

Shaking his head slowly, he looked at Nate. The position of the sink happens to be opposite to the sofa, allowing him to chat while still washing dishes.

"Oh yeah. How's your story going?"

Lin's tone and extremely flat expression made Nate's previously inflated expectations, slowly begin to deflate. It turned out that Lin was indeed not interested in him.

"News?" Nate's voice sounded a little disappointed.

"Yes. You said it was embarrassing. Why?"

Nate lowered his head slightly. He was actually lazy to discuss the problem earlier.

"Well, the point is I can't get too close to a human woman. I don't know why their smell makes me sick."

Lin's forehead frowned slightly hearing that explanation. This information is almost similar to his situation of not being able to get too close to men. Besides Nate.

"But I'm Nate's human. And you don't seem to be anything near me."

"Hm. You are different. But before that, why were you holding my arm?"

Nate tried to divert the conversation. He tried to avoid topics that could potentially reveal information he knew about Lin. For the time being.

Lifting both of her shoulders, the woman placed the clean cups on her plate rack. He then dried his wet hands in a clean rag.

"Just curious."

"Curious?"

Slowly, the woman again sat down beside him and looked at Nate.

"Are you pursuing a certain sport, Nate?"

"Yes. Might as well. Marcus and I would usually do sky diving or rock climbing when we had time. But lately, we've been doing it less often."

Although both sports are extreme, it is impossible to make Nate's body until it is formed like that unless he is a dedicated athlete.

The man fell silent. The question was completely unexpected, and he did not know how far he would be able to explain his past to this woman beside him.

Aware of her overly outspoken self, Lin shut her mouth.

"Oh, sorry Nate. I didn't mean to ask that question. If you don't answer, it's okay. I'm just curious."

A little embarrassed, Lin got back up from his seat. He has twice tried to cross the line. His relationship with Nate has not been that close, for he can ask things that are too personal.

Suddenly his hand was pulled and slowly, Lin was directed to sit back down.

The man in front of her smiled and looked at her gently with both of his black eyes.

"Not to apologize. You can ask me anything, Lin."

Nate decided he would try to start opening up to this woman in front of him. He wants to have a closer relationship with her. At least for some things, the man would be willing to tell Lin.

Clasping Lin's hands together, Nate lowered his head. He realized how tiny the woman's hand was when compared to his own. Guilt crept in his heart, when recalling he almost forced his will on the woman.

"I used to be a soldier. My whole life, I spent it fighting."

"You're in a war? I mean really down to the battlefield?"

The man looked at her and nodded. "Yes. Wars in France and Europe."

The woman fell silent. His eyes seemed to wonder.

"Actually, how old are you, Nate?"

"Hem. More than 400 years."

This information made Lin's eyes widen. He did not expect the age of the man in front of him was already that long.

"Oh! Waw."

His comments contained no admiration, quite the contrary. He wanted to know how this man could survive his long life, considering that the woman herself had not been half of the man's age and she had already started to complain.

"Are you not lonely? After living that long?" The woman asked carefully.

Lin's question slightly made Nate's heart throb pain. Those words made him remember his family who were killed unjustly.

Nate slowly released Lin's hand and leaned back in his chair. He looked ahead.

He was actually a bit confused to explain his lonely side. And he also still does not want to reveal about Marcus as clearly as that.

"Past... I have a small family, but they've been killed."

Nate decided to tell her a little about her family.

Other information that made the woman speechless. Never thought that the man in front of him had become a husband and father.

"My whole life, I just wanted to die and catch up with them. But it can never."

"Never be able to?"

Lin had no other information about the Vs, except that they were long-lived and lived around humans.

"We can only wait for death to come to collect because the age has run out. Or our own creator who took the life of his creation back."

"I just heard about this."

Realizing that this topic was of interest to Lin, Nate turned his head and smiled at the woman.

"Ask what you want to know."

"So, you mean you can't get hurt and die?"

"I can get hurt, but the healing process is much faster than ordinary humans. Makes me unable to die with just ordinary wounds."

Lin realized that this turned out to be the same as his condition, which also had the ability to heal quickly. But for now, he still did not dare to reveal about himself to Nate.

Clenching his eyes, Lin's curiosity became greater when he recalled something.

"What color is your blood?"

He was quite curious about this, considering that the man in front of him had pale skin and his veins were slightly gray under the surface of his skin.

Although this is not too obvious, but when in a bright room, then this difference will be quite significant compared to other normal humans. Especially when the talent of the skin that is already white and tends to pale, like Nate.

"Black." More information for Lin.

"Can I see it?"

Nate's eyebrows shot up and his eyes wondered. Just this time he heard that someone wanted to see the color of someone else's blood.

"Why?"

Lin's face seemed to sparkle. "Eitherway. But you guys are very interesting. Frankly, this is the first time I've met your kind. So I'm a little curious."

Nate was still a little confused, but decided to grant the woman's request.

"alright. Maybe I can bite my hand a little bit."

Lin directly hit Nate's arm which seemed to start raising towards his mouth.

"You're so slovenly, Nate! Wait here, I'll take something."

Chuckling, the man saw Lin standing up and walked into his own room. He was just joking with that woman.

Not long after, Lin returned to the sitting room while carrying a small box.

After sitting back down, he opened the box which turned out to contain various kinds of needle and sewing thread. The woman took one of the medium-sized needles.

"I just wanted to stab you a little bit. Can I?"

"Is it sterile?"

Smiling cynically, the woman replied, "Can you get tetanus?"

Nate grin wide. "No."

"Then, there's no problem. Come on, get your hands."

Slightly pushy, Lin took one of Nate's hands. The man looked resigned as the woman began to point her sewing needle at the index finger of her right hand.

A small stab was made by Lin on Nate's finger, which was barely felt by the man. A speck of black blood began to emerge from the open wound.

"It's true it's black." The woman commented. Eyes shine.

His fingers slightly pressed Nate's index finger to draw out a bit of his blood. He wants to see more clearly.

Just then, the phone in Nate's pants pocket rang. A little difficult, the man took it out and saw the one who called turned out to be his assistant.

"Marcus."

The man had just answered his phone, when he suddenly felt something wet and tingly on his index finger.

When he turned his head to the side, the sight in front of him made him quite shocked. He almost dropped his phone because he was surprised.

Lin turned out to be poking at his index finger. His eyes closed, looking to enjoy.

"Li-lin's? W-What are you doing?" Nate's voice sounded like it was suffocating.

The man's heart was hammering on his chest. Marcus, who heard his superior, started to panic and called out to him.

"I'm fine, Marc." Immediately, Nate turned off his phone.

Hearing the man's voice, Lin began to open both of his eyes slowly.

His eyes, which were light brown, looked black, and Nate noticed that the two female canines looked slightly elongated.

The man felt something was amiss on the woman in front of him. This woman's gaze at him, was exactly like her when she first saw Lin. The bern*fsu view.

Swallowing his saliva hard, Nate's mind started to frown. Oh myGod. Karma does exist.

He seemed resigned to waiting for the fate that was ready to befall him.
